>>3933092 I've enjoyed TLS quite a bit but unless you follow a guide it's definitely going to be a "make the best out of a bad situation" kind of game since it' can get pretty convoluted and the investment system in such a long game means that if you fuck up your early investments then things are gonna get a little bit worse for you every time you invest again which makes your choices even harder later on.
I also really wish it wasn't a porn game. It's not particularly erotic and just gets in the way of the good bits.
How quick would it be to use rpg maker to throw together a game to test out ideas? I have XP and VX Ace if that makes any difference. They gave them out for free a while ago and I snagged 'em.
>>3933092 I've been going through the towelket games. 6 is really quite shit but I've enjoyed the rest of the games. It starts off edgy and then you get sidetracked into Agochu Pucchi shenanigans later alongside some other meaningless characters that say nothing of value. I can SOMEWHAT see where the dev wanted to go with the story with the later chapters but it's in between a bunch of unfunny interactions. But then the game just ends there with "THE STORY WILL CONTINUE... IN TOWELKET 4". It really feels like he gave up halfway through. The combat is somehow even more skippable than the other games. I just started 4 and am already having a more enjoyable time with it, in part because I'm biased toward ocean settings. I don't expect anything more than simple RPG gameplay from the series but the focus on more traditional RPG gameplay intrigues me.
>>3933092 Started 7th Stand User recently, never been a big fan of Jojo but some of the entries in the series are alright I guess. I'm more surprised about the huge variety of stands the player's character can have, tho it feels unfair how some of them don't have Overworld interactions besides extra dialogue while others can straight up net you unique items or cheat out specific portions of the game
Replaying B. B. Rider recently. The battle system... could be interesting, but the required grinding in areas that have no relevance to the story makes it suck. Still, the story's interesting (Yeah, let's summon a hero from 1200 years ago! Wait... what kind of person would be so famous they end up in books as a hero for so long...?) and the reveal of the true relationship between the protag and main heroine hit pretty hard my first playthrough. And it's a free RM2K game from 20 years ago with a vocal OP and ED, so it stands out for that if nothing else.
I started it yesterday, the beginning seems promising enough but the amount of retarded bickerings and unrelated jokes just keeps rubbing me the wrong way. Does it get better in that regard?
>>3938419 It does... eventually. It's definitely true that it thinks it's funnier than it is and it drags on. At least once the final chapters start the dumb shit is kept to a minimum. The sub-events that unlock from talking to the people in the town also don't really add anything to the story, and only a couple are good enough to be worth reading.
>>3933612 The dev is Francis Coulombe. If the name doesn't ring a bell, he was the artist for Barkley: Shut up and Jam: Gaiden and worked closely with the Tale's of Games people. He's the only one of that group that successfully escaped from the dumpster fire that was Barkley 2.
He's also worked on Katana Zero, Kingdoms of the Dump, and Snakebird. He's a talented indie dev with decades of experience, in other words.
It's neither FotM or horrorslop. He worked on it for close to a decade, livestreaming nearly every bit of development, and it's a very polished and well designed game.
Enchant Farm, seems to be a typo in Heal III's character information page on the vrpg honyakubu site. https://vrpghonyakubu.neocities.org/enchantfarm/charadata/heal-iii Under the "How to Get Her" section it says that you can get her by pressing SHIFT twice on Spirit Bless, although I think it's meant to say Quake III instead. Seems like whoever wrote it was copypasting the text template from Confuse's page, which happens to be right above Heal III's page. Only making a post here about it since the additional info text file included in the game download mentioned to make a post here if anyone found any typos, though I will admit it's not exactly clear if they meant typos explicitly within the game rather than a typo on the FAQ pages, but both seem to be maintained by the same group, so I hope someone from R&D sees it here. Fun game btw, has consumed two weeks of my life so far.
Is this Tales of Drunken Paladin game is a one of the example of "ironic recommendations" or something? I trying it right now it and it legit feels broken from the start. Different sprite of Anebriate in his non-golden armor when you interact with the bed, then there's few walls that don't have collision when you leave the first room of the house, combining with complete softlock if you accidently return to first room while looking through the main part of the house, because you literally can't exit it again. If you get softlocked this way you also forced to go through unskippable 10 minute intro because fuck you, dev just decide randomly turn off the save feature in the beginning of the game.
The most crazy part is - this is from the version of 2025. This game is supposedly 16 years old, i could literally fuck it legally in my country! How do you just left shit like this in your game, in literal beginning?! Like what the dev of this inverse-masterpiece even doing man.
>>3941476 How do you figure that? Black Souls and Off and SEQUEL and Fear&Hunger are on there. The real reason that Look Outside isn't on there is because that list predates Look Outside.
>>3941437 I got a little bit further. After he get into a fight with a mechaknight, or whatever, and then get knocked out by a woman who pretend to be attacked by a said mechaknight. Tried explore the town further, only to get a script error crash after interacting with a candle in warlock house...
Is there a version of this game than isn't a hot steamy pile of bugs? I'm lowkey fuck with cringy writing of this game and all, but playing like this is just impossible for me. Without ability to save freely at least.
>>3941525 Alright, so i got to the actual gameplay, since the candle seems to be the only broken script, in the part of town i explore at least, and it's what you think it gonna be - literal brainless z-mash with random encounters every five seconds.
Someone should erase this fucking game from the gem list outright or replace it with Doom & Destiny, cause at least that low-quality, default asset using, non-funny-but-tryint-to-be rpg maker game was actually working game and not tortured you with inability to save whatever.
>>3938992 >zakuzaku actors starts out average then game keeps getting better after the first defense stage. tons of playable characters to play arround with fuckton of content that main story takes 70-80h, with postgame story (basicly season 2+3 of an anime combined for comparision) game goes to 200h++ >gathering light untranslated but someone is working on it >light tower enchant farm dev, untranslated but an anon from few threads ago is working on it >cradle of nightmare SFW black souls 2 made by chinese (except few enemies), right now has couple of issues but enjoyable if you can forgive them
>>3938992 I haven’t touched rpg maker in well over a decade but my giga boomer recommendation is Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. I remember hearing good things about Space Funeral too but never played it.
>>3942251 ...this is an RPGmaker thread, and Look Outside was an RPGmaker game released last year. Anon mentioned Barkley, and the guy who make Look Outside worked on Barkley. Also, it's not an "Undertale-clone", what the fuck? Also, obviously I'm not the guy who made Look Outside, in case that actually need to be said.
Why are you so upset about 3 mentioned of Look Outside in an RPGmaker thread?
>>3942253 >Also, it's not an "Undertale-clone" It is. Reddit-coded undertale clone, with any resemblance of the actual serious atmosphere is being there for like first two or soo floors, then you get all this infinite hordes of mutated quirky chunguses npc, this is also the time you start get companions, with follow the same pattern. Oh, and this is was my experience on release, i seen few shorts with the updated enemies and stuff, and it seems there's even more undertaley quirkysloppa now. Also literally everyone on this game, who isn't some cartoony monster, are brown.
>Also, obviously I'm not the guy who made Look Outside, in case that actually need to be said. Well you definitely not from there in any case, so you could get back.
>>3942262 >It is. Nope. >Also it's 6 mentions, in 59 reply thread. It's 3 mentions. One up top, a small conversation in the middle, and this one.
I didn't read your post because you're clearly an upset shitposter, but I don't think you tried to explain why you're so upset about an RPGmaker game being mentioned in an RPGmaker thread.
>>3941869 what about the top left one? is it the VIPRPG one with SMTish menu posted like 2-3 threads ago? >etrian odyssey with elemental girls shit i want this translated too
Is there a way to increase the resolution (stretching it I suppose) for these games? the window is so tiny for Enchant Farm for example, I am considering just turning my resolution down to play it, but I figured I'd check.
Is there an English wiki for Enchant Farm? I was trying to trigger this Queen of Darkness thing for Darkness 1, but I either messed it up, or don't understand how the jp wiki explains it.
>>3944850 -protagonist can't be darkness -met darkness but did not recruit her -recruited 12+ other party members -go to the throne I think that's all you have to do
>>3945717 the passive it gives her isn't very useful, but it doesn't have any drawbacks like Blood iirc it only triggers under some stupid condition like a party member dies? the event is worth it though
Played Cardaire recently. It mostly interested me because the genre of "singleplayer non-roguelite card game" is pretty rare and I wish we had more of them, game itself was okay.
Playing Hat World and spicing it up by going to each world evenly and fighting all the minor bosses first. Dora brought up Yoko having been "tea pestered" by the Tea Twit despite Yoko never meeting her. I don't think I'm supposed to be playing this way.
>>3945717 not that worth if you play her as pure tank, gets better if you play her as dps but you still have base darkness unlike blood event man blood was so dissapointing >high expectation because you are trading a pretty good character (protean in pokemon got nerfed hard for a reason) for a new character >the scene and her lines gives me impression she is lore important, checking her status gives abit of creepypasta feel giving expectation things will change alot in future >turns out i'm getting a high maintenance okay payment instead of a sidegrade and playthrough is still exact same >ending simply defaults to no with 0 explanation given >>3946563 i had this in wishlist but card art made me skip it i'll give it a try since i don't have anything to play right now
>>3946605 Tea Fairy can just teleport whatever, including your own hub sometimes.(Or space between it and Audrey's cafe, at least.) So i presume it more of implied that she met her off-camera.
>>3946794 >Is Wind the best starter? She's not good against secret superbosses. Otherwise, absolutely. Just don't forget to stick her into the last position. Also, you can get a lot more souls and skill training chances if you leave her at SL140 (her final ability unlocked at SL200 is kinda a shit skill that gives fixed STR for melee weapons)
Makes me wonder who the best starter is too. Fire I I guess, her magic damage boosts are highest in the game. Physical Form-2 Water I is a fantastic choice as well.
>>3946772 >So i presume it more of implied that she met her off-camera. Honestly, just a mistake on developer's part. EXCEPT SHE DID. CANONICALLY. YES. IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF THAT TWIT.
>>3946794 >Anything I need to know before playing Enchant Farm? Game borrows alot of stuff from pokemon notably typing Weapon evolutions doesn't mean it will be stronger, some are straight up downgrades depending on who is using it/bosses (you want to save before using rare mats) >best starter That would be water because she is just that good, the only catch is in very early game she sucks and forced to waste a turn to change form if she dies since default form is really suck. Wind is the best starter in hardcore/tactical mode however due to certain reasons But choosing starter is pretty much whatever outside of enabling certain events since you can recruit everyone in the end
>>3933092 Umbral Soul is pretty good so far. I like how it's not just heal + spam highest damage attacks and the setting of actually playing the villains of the story is fresh. There's a lot of soulful touches like dialogue and battle scenes changing depending on who is in the party or which monster you summon too. Also Pandora is hot.
Played the Tobiden prologue, got completely blindsided by the sudden open world and time limit. >>3938992 You should prob removed the "Untranslated" from Tobiden
>>3952893 Depends on what you mean you're looking for. If you're looking for something dark, a bit edgy with a unique aesthetic then Ark's Wonder Dungeon fits the bill. If you're looking for something a bit more schizocore then maybe The Endless Empty.
>>3952963 It looks like he got worse again, since he delisted the game and has started scrubbing everything off the internet. It's a shame and I hope he gets the help he clearly needs.
>>3952977 >since he delisted the game and has started scrubbing everything off the internet Is there any preserved version of Ruza on the Internet Archive or whatever or it's legit a true abandonware now?
>>3953119 Not sure, but since it's RPG Maker anyone who still has the game in their library can just upload a copy. It's not like it's particularly well protected.
Why are these games so comfy? I've bounced off shit like FFX or newest SMT, but put 2 weeks and 99% Atline (didn't beat the secret final boss) and now I'm playing Ghost Path and enjoying that too Also liked wadahonara and first towelket game
>>3953698 RPGM its in its own league of comfy. I recommend playing the LiEat trilogy (can find them for free on VGperson's blog), as well as Purgatory 1 and 2. I feel you'll like these.
>>3953698 I also find myself liking RPM games an unreasonable amount lately. And I spent decades writing them all off, wholesale, as trash, simply because I remember that I made my own shitty RPGM game when I was in the 5th grade.
>>3953989 >>3953916 Yeah, I don't know why, but things like default sprites or stock sounds/music that make other anons disgusted and disinterested, don't bother me at all They feel kinda nostalgic in a way...
>>3953991 I'm fine with default sprites and music, but the default battle system in 2k3 turns me away. I get that making a custom battle system takes time, but
>>3953991 It's simple, you're just used to it. Look at any other genre or console and you'll notice the exact same sort of trends, mechanics, ui styles, sfx, etc in that category. It's a meme in the actual meaning of the word. Also people who get angry about default assets are silly in general and their opinions don't matter, most developers use premade assets and 100% of them copy other titles and tropes constantly. Expecting developers to remake the wheel every time they make a game is retarded.
God damn it feels good being a Towelket fan and having a TON of games to play, rather than wallowing in misery because my favorite RPGM develper made only 1-3 games and then made nothing else aside from bad lazy remakes!
Is there a place to find and download games now that the archive is dead? The only ways left being begging for links here or praying that it's on internet archive is pretty sad. I've been trying to download a rpgm torrent pack of games for years to no avail. I'm slowly getting attached to the futility of it.
I don't normally play 4 niggas in a row games, but honestly, I want something simple to play in my bed or while on break with my laptop. Anyone got some good classic fantasy rpgmaker sloppa? Bonus point for a decent story and all that, but not strictly required.
>>3968145 You might like the prequel/Era of Myth series. Town of Gears, Atline, Ghost Path, Erra Saga, Ruinswald (not translated yet), Silver Tower, Ghost Path 2, Liberty Step.
even though Bad Bitch Blasters is easy, unfunny, kind of incomprehensible, and maybe up its own ass a little bit, there was so much variety in the party members and skills that I quickly realized it was a trainwreck I could not look away from. recommended.
I played a futa rpgmaker thing and you know what, there's exactly ONE actual full sex scene. What the FUCK. You walk around with your dick out and you get a rape attack but you only get to use it ONCE. Come on.
>>3965068 hold the fuck up are you translating the barrier girls game too? I remember playing it and was fun but stopped early because mtl can't handle the ancient sigils
>>3975115 The closest ones I can think of is Disillusion ST or Ark's Wonder Dungeon but neither of those are traditional dungeon crawlers if you're looking for something along the lines of Grimrock.
>>3933092 how do I play this in android? I tried it running it on joiplay and I get an unsupported game error >RPGM Version: 2k3 Maniacs Patch I guess this isn't regular rpg maker/ace?
>>3948301 I checked it out due to this post, and it's been awesome so far. I keep running into the same glitch when the phoenix egg boss battle is finished, and it's hard locked my progress. Have any of you guys encountered the same thing? There doesn't seem like there's any mention of it, but as far as I know the version I have is the standard.
>>3982009 The thing is, these games aren't supposed to exist. The dev did and still is attempting to erase all trace of them from the internet. Like, I have the game files for both the original and one of the more common versions of the fanmade sequel that caused the dev to crash out to begin with, but if he's still going after links after all these years I'm not sure where I could upload them safely.
>>3982255 Thank you anon. I appreciate your sharing otherwise lost media, and will do my best to archive and proliferate it to other RPG enthusiasts I know.
What's the best version of jojo's 7th stand user to play nowadays? I wanted to check it out but there's a bunch of different ones. Should I get chaos edition or R edition?
Why it's only jap devs who are so anal on such a retarded position? If you don't want your game to spread, don't fucking post it on web in the first place. It's literally on the same level as keeping your daughter locked at home so that she wouldn't get raped by Detroit niggas at some point.
>>3982535 So as I understand it: >dev released the original Dark Nec, edgy Serablue-ish-thing, was well-received. >dev says they're working on a sequel/second game, but either stops or is just so slow that fans of the first start working on it. >things get a little nuts in the fangame to the point that the original dev considers it defamation >dev nukes everything and is said to this day to be circling all DN content with lawyers. I don't know how much of it's true, I'm just going off rumors and the seemingly-enforced scarcity of information on the game. I don't know whether it would be serious defamation or another case of a creator taking everything Too Damn Seriously(Tm) and entered a crashout that persists to this day.
I heard that the fans began altering the devs arts and canon way too much to the point of mocking, so he buttblasted and demanded to wipe everything out, then as a backlash the fans mocked him and his site, calling it the "worst disaster happened to the world on par with holocaust and hiroshima", something like that lol. That broke the camel's back, and the dev deleted absolutely everything and disappeared from the web (aka changed his accounts and nicknames).
>>3983979 The version I have (1.00 released on 9th of September 2018, I think) may be missing most of the fanmade art. Apparently there is or once was a later version with much more, but I haven't been able to find it.
>>3982895 The dev first released DN2 as a demo or half finished version. Fans continued to work on it and released a finished version. Until then there was no bad blood. Problem is in later versions they used copyrighted assets. And whatever happened ... apparently the lawyers were knocking on DN devs door. The ones who report the uploads are a bunch of rabid japanese fans, in the past they had a thread on 5ch, where they even commented on the upload on uboa and about how they needed to prevent another shitstorm by reporting that upload.
The fans who were developing the sequel then removed the problematic material but it was then too late. Dev apparently then caused a massive shitstorm and made sure any upload got taken down.. https://web.archive.org/web/20210120012646/https://freegame-mugen.jp/roleplaying/game_8645.html Ver 4.1: 夢現版において、使用可能性がゼロの画像素材を削除 That is at least what read from a thread on 5ch, so its also not verified but closer to the truth then some of the theories here. So the dev did have a reason but I think most of us dont care and still want to play the 3.3 or any higher version. seriously it has been 5 years already,. why are those rabid japanese still reporting those uploads. Also anyone knows if there are newer もう落とせない! sefure or can give me a link please
I think one of those who report the links are one of the people who worked on the repaired version. Maybe he got threated by the dev himself, or got some other troubles. Anyway yeah, the game has an utterly cursed fate, unfortunately.
>>3985510 For 2k/2k3 games I remember using schizo setup of EasyRPG's in-built translation file tool to manually translate character names, items, skills and their descriptions with DeepL, and then translated dialogue text while playing through offline SugoiTranslator. I did it because I didn't have stable Internet and translator++ was a such a piece of shit soft which just corrupted scripts and made games unplayable. Maybe today there are better options, like Luna Translator (didn't used it but heard about it).
>>3946794 Wind I is good, I think Water I is the overall best though. She's very versatile with her different forms. Magic form is tough, never misses, and hits like a truck.
>>3988657 this is extremely hard to parse except the watery area it needs more shadow contrast between the tan/grey/green areas on the left the gate wall reads as floor ignore if you have a lighting engine
>>3938752 To correct a thing: the game he's been working on for a decade is Malison, which is still unfinished. Look Outside started as a gamejam, and he spent about a year or so turning it into the initial release.
>>3989866 I got bored of MGQP before I finished it. I really should go back. The porn isn't even good and you can very easily become retardedly overpowered, which I discovered purely by accident because I liked one of the girls who is retardedly overpowered early on.
>>3990799 Well I don't think people really play Paradox for the porn. Heck even the original MGQ itself doesn't have any good porn, unless you have a very esoteric taste due to the amount of weird designs it had. The story is crazy entertaining though.
>>3988663 I beta tested a lot of it, it's quite good, almost all quests have at least 2 ways to be resolved but often more than that, often offering the option to betray or lie to the quest giver. Lot of freedom that have consequences.
>>3933092 >>3938992 I recommend Madness Fantasy, it's not a hidden gem, but it's very interesting and ambitious in what it tries to do. The only problem is the humor. It's pretty much an Italian GTA clone made in RPG Maker 2000
>>3942233 >but my giga boomer recommendation is Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. That's Gamemaker, not RPG Maker, it started off as an RPGM project but it shifted mid-development because RPGM 2k and 2k3 was more limited back then compared to now.
>>3942262 >"Reddit-coded undertale clone" How the fuck can it be a UT clone when there's no bullet hell mechanics? The entire gimmick with both UT and DR is the Touhou inspiration with the bullet hell shit.
>>3992335 i got my start making games with Ace, but i'm most nostalgic for fucking around with the old 2k and 2k3 don miguel translations. they have a lot of soul. mv is probably the best to use if you wanna make a game for real, though
>Kanao makes a game >people want it in English >dev agrees but only if you still buy a game from him (which is fair) >English patch gets released >dev removes the game from his store >it is not even the first time he just deletes his games with no explanation I like Japan, but I hate Japanese people so much, it is unreal.
>>3992699 are you looking for open world character collection or slow burn spectacle? enchant farm is a quarter of the length if you're not sure. both have cool systems and boss fights.
So from what I gather, the ideal RPG Maker game must have: >science fantasy feel of FF7 >character progression of SaGa >plot point weirdness of Xenogears >groovy music >cute girls >monster raising minigame >real estate management >gambling >porn >excessive violence >kino moments Anything else?
Nobody's gonna give up their hobbies because of bunch of gaijins, not to mention that japs give zero fuck about overseas. As for takedowns, just spread it everywhere you can lmao
>>3993210 People like >>3992687 are not mentally stable. Fan translators for obscure doujin games get paid in social media cred and that check bounces if you push the dev off a ledge
>>3993511 They get paid in me playing their games and never acknowledging them except to castigate them for minor choices that have slight political valence
>>3993580 imo enchant farm has good fundamentals but hat world's bosses are more interesting and ask more of the player. enchant farm never made me revisit my team's gameplan or swap in other characters to overcome a challenge which is a waste of its sandbox. maybe some of the many ng+ difficulty modifiers help, didn't try, I know tactical mode has its devotees
Alright, shilling time. I played this one recently and had a blast, although it was mixed with frustration as well due to the annoying RE-style door opening animations and few softlocking bugs on the way. The game is basically Killer7 + Resident Evil, with Twin Peaks/Deadly Premonition chunks thrown in. Although the art is rough, I found it way less obnoxious to play than Killer7, also the story doesn't lean to political side. Speaking of the story, the flow and the presentation are really well done, the characters are likeable (including hot dual-personality milf and half-retarded meguka who sees rabbits instead of corpses), and there is ton of secrets and various interactions for each char. Don't sleep on this gem, but keep in mind that it's still somewhat janky. Btw the dev is russian, in case you don't want to get a guilty pleasure or something. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2411100/Mind_Control_Bloody_Renaissance/
