Got to the end credit of colony, what kind of writing training arc have this guy been doing to pump this out right after Awake ??? the past 2 games frankly are mediocre when it comes to selling serious moments but this game managed to land multiple gut punches to me consecutively ( the mormai dream sequence is amazing and actually creeped me out). I picked it up years ago to jack off while skipping dialogue (yes, I was lured in by Fake Rabi obviously) but I soon found myself putting my pants back on and enjoying it as a proper game. I remember that I was playing something else at the time and I paused that to focus on Blight lmao.
Anyway, Colony has a legit very strong narrative, the others are more on the fun adventure side with hit or miss plots, but the characters are constantly fun and entertaining.

Finished the 'DLC' of Colony. It's roughly as robust as blight's Pagadol postgame section so in that sense Awake's the odd's one out in not having a giga sized endgame setting up the Sequel (heh). I quite liked how Hakika foreshadows and prop up the next installment in these so I hope the subsequent games keep this trend. And from how much they mentioned Vastas here im guessing thats our next destination which is very exciting.

But to be honest I'm a bit dissapointed in the resolution. Having a tangible villain to defeat is a change after going through the whole of colony but aeon is so underwhelming to me. Hakika's Villain struggles to be compelling for me , from the moon guy who at the end of blight to sibluml and aeon, they all act way too "I'm evil and im going to exposition my entire history to you and act like a sociopath so you dont need to feel bad about killing me hahahah". I quite prefer the moral dillema during the rest of the game of having no outlet for the injustice commited during the past, and this guy suddenly appears as a moustache twirling villain who gets defeated as suddenly as they are introduced.

Shin is so well written I'd guess that he based the entire game's conflict around her when writing it and despite her being the impetus for us going to Alzhett i feel theres a disconnect beween the 2 storylines. That being said its very satisfying to see the place after how much its been mentioned throughout he rest of colony, character interactions is top notch as always(ACTUALLY INSANE how they brought back the ittybittykitty joke) and Olivia's scenes are hot as hell (god I wish lolibabas are real) so im quite satisfied in term of how much it answered, I hope we get another noja cameo next game

The post-game was particularly a let down, because the game proper has such good writing it leaves you wondering how they're going to tackle all of Alzhett society being built on this lie and wrap things up in a satisfying manner. And the answer is... they're not.

Yes there were plenty of good character interactions, and all the new characters introduced were fun as well. Olivia and Yubeil are wonderful. The succs as well.

Yeah I definitely enjoyed Colony a WHOLE lot, I complained about post game but that's just how much the base game impressed me

after playing through blight, awake and now colony consecutively I definitely felt a little burnt out (looking back on it I wished I took a little time to digest the ending before jumping to Alzhett), I'd hate to get a negative impression of a game because of factors not related to itself so I definitely want to take a little break before LET'S ASYLUM

some stray thoughts before I forgot:
- The mystery surrounding the time travel stuff I found to be quite well executed , reminds me of Awake's amnesia mystery but much better resolved
-I appreciate the slight tone shift before and after the time travel (i.e Solte being able to just appear out of nowhere to blast an obstacle during the early game (hilarious btw)) and afterwards is when the plot starts getting more serious
-After killing the early spider boss we see a well maintained grave, if you come back to it after the time skip it's in disrepair because we killed the person attending to it,no one commented on it but how you can realise yourself hits hard for me
-The faltoga prison break is the funniest part of the game and I'm glad she's recurring, just wish they put that event to post game because if you did it as it unlock before the final battle it would've obliterated the mood and pacing(I'm glad I rushed straight to shin)
-i wish they'd made faltoga stay a cat, she's hilarious but I do not wish to fuck her
-I really like alzhett's boss themes
-I think this is the one game I'd allow beryl to be the mysterious ally who knows more than she lets on, if she does this again in any subsequent game I'll start calling her a deus-ex-machina (I already felt her resolving the aeon situation randomly in the background is pushing it), I think it's a coward move to keep a convenient character like her without alluding more what she's trying to do

I feel basically the same about colony’s postgame. Basically everything was top-notch except for Aeon. Even then, I do like how Aeon is implicitly linked to why Alzhett even came to Schisma to colonize it. It was all because Aeon saw Trau’s arm that the egoistic man brought back to Alzhett, and he ordered the Alzhettians to further study the faeries. They have long life spans and the ability to revive themselves (see Phereo). That all links up with Aeon’s search for immortality.
Colony in general is just a masterpiece of a game, in all honesty.

If you give a shit amount final villain motivation for the first two games you'll be disappointed. They're not the focus of Blight/Awake. Colony ties in its main villains quite well but spoiling you on that would be dumb. Same to a slightly lesser extent with the remaining games.

Like other anons said, pretty common sentiment but each game has pretty nice carving out its own strengths. Blight has pretty crazy class customization and gameplay for an intro game, Awake is basically a visual novel with a hundred scenes and fun cast with decent bond progressions/interactions, Colony is where he starts to get into his pocket for the story, Asylum is for getting his freak on and trying to make a dark souls rpgm, Kludge has Olivia. I think the series as a whole so far hasn't touched the highs of the stretch from Colony's start to credits roll, but the second half definitely started to show cracks, luckily it's fairly far towards the end imo after the alzhett throne room exposition.

I can't say that I'm fishing for attention- more so that I'm making a crappy excuse. In any case, it really shouldn't be some big secret that I'm not great at keeping on track for working on projects. Specifically in the case of Ruinswald, I've made it about as unenjoyable to translate the game as possible (Translator++), so between that and work, it's not a huge surprise I wouldn't be motivated to use what little free time I have at what feels like an endless hole that I'm not making any real progress in, even if the progress is quantifiable. By the numbers, I should have been done months ago, had I just kept to the grindstone every day.
I'd say you definitely have a right to be upset at me for taking so long, but only that much- just like I have no right to get upset if someone finishes the translation before I do.
