Where do you start with modding KOTOR in 2026?

just get to nexus and pick what you want, I wouldn't bother with TSLRCM, overrated and buggy in itself
there's a custom lightsaber mod around which is cool though, gives each character it's own lightsaber model with specific stats too so that's nice

1
>KOTOR 1 Community Patch
>Restored Content for KOTOR 1 Community Patch
There might be high res mods for everything, but I never looked into it.
2
>TSL Restored Content Mod(the modder's additional planet if you want - M4-78 Enhancement Project)
>Workbench Crystal Attunement(there's 'A' and 'B', depending on your preferences)
There's a bunch of high res mods for everything, including the movies.

I read through the entire patch notes. What exactly are you suggesting is ruined by it?
If you're worried about the better early game equipment drops, fair enough.
Otherwise, I'm not really seeing anything that's a problem, beyond any perceived difficulty balance you have with the equipment.
>..or maybe try it out once and you'll understand why all that shit was removed from the game
I have played through with it, and I don't see what the problem is. Care to give a few problems?

Kotor 1 got a very lazy remake I think. I couldn't get 1 to work after I switched from xp to 7 no matter what I did. I think when they released 2 on steam they did some fixes, disc version was a bit screwey and needed mods iirc.

NTA but I think it simply ruins the pacing of the story, e.g. I like Taris but I wouldn't want to spend even more time there than I already have to every time I replay the game.
Manaan Pazaak Championship is pretty much the only useful addition from K1 Restoration mod.

I played through it with and without patch, there is barley any difference, you might install it just for the updated textures and models alone, otherwise its hardly a must have

the only thing it adds on taris is you bing able to re-enter the swoop bike area, otherwise its almost identical to vanilla
