I am /vrpg/ goer I don't like the dex I'm gonna make vague hyperbolic statements about a 100 rpgs all at once to farm (you)s, this is not at all like reddit karma farming because this is BASED and not CRINGE like the dex

I just looked at the top row and it's pretty good. I've played all the games in that row except for Jagged Alliance and Witcher 3, and the only game there that I didn't really enjoy is BG2. If I made my own top 10 RPGs list it would be pretty similar to the top row

no, i only accept the fact that you have no taste and that i'm talking about pearls and you are the swine, BUT that aside, i accept you concession and i'm glad we both agree that undertale is far from the best rpg maker games out there, yet it appears there because it's extremely popular
aka popularity awards, qed

>A shitty NWN2 expansion pack that is 90% dialog
>Planescape, the pseudo intellectuals holier-than-thou wannabe game
>Div:OS Modern comedy slop
>Grimoire LOL
>Trails in the Sky (Cuz they love dominant lolis)
>Tyranny: ultimate story fag game
I expect nothing less from a site whose spiritual leader is a kissless virgin who went bald at 30 and couldn't get laid in America so he went to Asia to fuck desperate brown whores.

It's really hard to make a top 100 RPG list because most RPGs are bad. It's a genre with a lot of potential that very rarely reaches that potential. There's a very good reason that most of the most beloved RPGs are the ones which hybridise with other genres and therefore dodge the pitfalls of boring gameplay and mucho texto.

I feel like this is a huge part of why the Codex community feels so off. It consists of people who try hard to come of as elitists, but for a genre of things that's mostly more potential than it is actually great, so they're obsessed with something that largely isn't that satisfying and are looking for something that fulfills their fantasies of the amazing game that actually lets them roleplay freely and have any decision they make affect the world in truly meaningful and fully realized ways, while being frustrated that this barely happens and isn't what they really wanted when it sort of does.
So they play into this identity of elitism, but it mostly feels put on because they're generally not playing things that are truly great or challenging and you can tell they're not fulfilled by most of what they do have and are chasing some ideal that will likely never exist.

Divinity 2, Tyranny, Kingmaker, Mass effect, and Witcher 3 should get booted off for quality. Star Control 2 while great isn't a rpg.
Slot in Rogue, Brigand: Oaxaca, Prelude to Darkness, Colony ship, CDDA, and Weird West.

>dragon age: origins
Dragon age is bg3 without anything good.
The loot is boring, the dnd substitutes for classes and systems are boring, the fodder encounters suck, the story is typical kotor ripoff that bioware has been repeating for a decade, I can go on.

>Making a thread about RPG Codex
Yes, this is embarassing, anon.
Instead of focusing on this, why don't we try to solve the mystery of which RPG Codex users are just sockpuppet accounts for their mods. I'm pretty sure Roguey and Fedora Master are the same person. I haven't figured out Infinitron's secret identity yet.

When you post a top 100 list you have to specify the methodology used to generate the list. Is it fan voting? How do fans vote do they pick 100 games themselves? Is it based on what people think the best game is or is it their favorite game? Define the parameters before I even begin to form an opinion.

This place is literally just the dumping ground of RPG Codex GODS (like me) & /v/ermin who come here to get educated and/or humiliated by us.
The Codex is & should be the aspiration of all of you lowly /v/ermin.

>There's not a lot of difference.
There is a lot of difference unless you are completely incapable of self reflection and acknowledging your biases. Many of my favorite games I wouldnt consider the best of the genre due to nostalgia and personal preference.

Top 100 is always pointless because you know half are classics, quarter modern 10s and then you maybe get something interesting left. Their YEARLY awards are more interesting if you ask me.

I for one love it when NPCs (usually kids and/or newfags) come at me with accusations like this. I only started posting on 4chan regularly 15 years ago so I keep thinking I'm just a "middle aged" 4chan poster. But statistically, I am very likely in the top 3% of oldest posters in every thread I post in, across all boards I frequent. Both in terms of my own age (only 34 years old) and in terms of how long I've been posting on 4chan.
>Your next post : some cope about how you've been here since 2001[sic] ACKshu--
Don't care, /v/ermin.
>B-but you use [words]
I remember when "based" was introduced to 4chan and the kids back then also tried to pull "if you say based then X". I have updated my lingo whenever it was appropriate to trigger as many NPCs as possible.
Remember, /v/ermin. You are all just ants who exist to entertain me. This ain't a two way street. I am *God*.

You stick out like a sore thumb dude, you have a very recognizable posting style even though you rotate through three or four “personas” that you use. I can immediately think of multiple threads you’ve had total meltdowns and embarrassed yourself in, and looks like this will be +1. You’re felted, bitch.
>>

Translation: I live in this librul jeetroon's head rent free because I FELTED him every single time he tried to start shit.
I trigger you just by unleashing my aura, so you outed yourself as a subhuman shitskin once again. You will never be a Codexer (the most prestigious title possible in the RPG field - even if you made an account you'd be just a crossie wannabe lil cuck), you will never be White, you will never be a woman. And you want to be all three.
I am the *GOD* of RPGs, an early 2000s member of the Codex (with the prestigious Arcane & [Patron] title), the oldest poster ITT, and the best & the wisest poster on /vrpg/ - and the last part is not me bragging, that's just me stating facts. It would be like bragging that I am the tallest & smartest in a sand pit full of retarded brown childs [sic].

Mass Effect is mountain dew and doritos driven movie for lobotomized Xbox kids where both character building and combat are braindead and shallow.
KotOR is fanservise driven Star Wars theme park with inconsequential mechanics stuck between BG's opaqueness of its system and ME's casualization for console babies.
TES is jank-driven porn games engine without a single properly functioning system, no matter what kind of value you squeeze out of it, you'll be doing it through larping and modding.
DS features great degree of interaction between character building and action combat with both being very functional and never cannibalizing each other, allowing you to both solve encounters with appropriate gear choices and power through fight on sheer consistency of your dodgerolls.

Disingenuous and melanated contrarian faggot.
I played through the whole Mass Effect trilogy on autopilot without putting a single thought into its mechanics (except switching from space wizard to gun dude when importing character ME2 so won't cuck myself out of using fun guns).
It is literally impossible to treat Dark Souls this way because you see immediate and tangible impacts you your character building choices in DS.

Lol

Yes the gun restriction was a design decision I disagreed with. I get the reasoning behind it, but the third game had a better solution.

>BG3 lost to Jagged Alliance 3
I hate BG3 and think it’s an overrated mediocre game plagued by poor decisions during its development.
That said, the guy running the site fortified the election by rigging it such that different votes were counted with different weights, in order to ensure that BG3 lost, out of a petty grievance, and not from the choice of the voters. That’s a totally dishonest and pathetic thing to do. JA3 barely even counts as an RPG, and it’s completely obvious to anyone that BG3 was the bigger, more popular, and more influential RPG of the year.
