They got fucking Noriyuki Asakura and told him to go balls to the walls, it was going to be absolute kino regardless.
Also they legit had him write a 10/10 cover of "The Court Of The Crimson King" as the staff roll music, so you know the director has patrician taste in music.

I found it far too tedious. It really needed to allow free movement/positioning when no enemies were active. Waiting for a unit that can move a whole two spaces a turn to make their way to the next door got old really fast.

That might be a dealbreaker. I already dislike it in Jeanne or tactics ogre. You need 15% of the time for the last two clowns fleeing the battle scene. Ai should give up when it's 1 bowman vs 8 melee units.

Great game, I enjoyed it a lot.
I agree it's a bit clunky when you're trying to line up your units before you open a door, but that doesn't happen enough to bother me
Last time I didn't use any pluton and I didn't use any of those random rings you find in some story battles. No idea how I should handicap myself in future playthroughs to avoid repeating the same strategies.
