You say it like that's a bad thing.
>mfw spell animations taking ages to play out

Beavis & Butthead made this game.

Okay but how many rpgs have you played besides Chrono Trigger and Septerra Core?
>>
>>3978238
I bought this game on GOG ages ago and I still have to play it.

As if the japs didn't rip off of each other literally all the time. CT is kiddy consoleshit with toddler controls. Septerra is a proper PC RPG with good writing.

The entire reason I dropped CT, but beat septerra multiple times.

All I know is that I thought Araym was the coolest fucking design ever

I played almost every big/popular western RPG between Fallout and Pillars of Eternity, and a handful of outliers (Albion, Burntime, Wizardry VII before and ...I guess Disco Elysium counts for after, and Age of Decadence/Colony Ship and a bit of the first Owlcat Pathfinder).

I reckon you are more interested in JPRGs though, yessir, I reckon, mmhm. I haven't played a lot of JRPGs, only a bit of Final Fantasy VII, Persona 3/4/5 and 5's two spin off games, the original Trails in the Sky trilogy and Disgaea & Disgaea 2. I thought Chrono Trigger would only overlap with Septerra in the ATB combat style, but I was shocked to see how much of the design was just "hope no one notices" copy-paste. The few reviews I read at the time of release all just compered it to Final Fantasy, so I thinking to myself "wow this is so much better than FF7". Though it's possible it was partially me coping because I couldn't get a pirated version of FF7 at the time and I got Septerra Core as a game magazine cover game, like most people in the region, I reckon.

Very based, the writing of Chrono Trigger is just basic anime cringe but I was being nice because I haven't played any pre-1995 RPGs with much better writing. I reckon if I could've played Chrono Trigger in the 90s I would've loved it as a kid though, would be playing it all the time. It took me months to finish the game but on the other hand I finished Septerra at least 2.5 times and Chrono Trigger is giving me a hankerin' to replay it again. I would also say that the soundtrack of Septerra makes a huge difference, I just love the combat themes, the shell themes, and the sound effects (like the generic gun shooting) live rent free in my head. But the soundtrack also sounds a bit similar like the Myth games, so maybe O'Donnell and Salvatori didn't put too much effort into it.

I wish there was a mod that disables enemy aggro if they're low level or in previously visited areas (like the cheat code)

Imagine how much better the game could've been if they at least implemented some of the easier points in the original game design.
https://twilighttangents.com/septerracore-legacy-of-the-game-part-01/
>Remove respawning enemies and just do quest XP.
>Chess style combat would've probably slowed the game down even further, so this is the one thing they benefited from not implementing.
>Would be a great fit with the "organic tech" universe.
>Probably the night was important for the next point.
>Camps could be an improvement if it let you interact with your party more.
>The politics point is especially funny because that's the one they kept selling to the publishers all the time.
>"Guys, imagine if we had a journal..." - yep this one was a big stand out as far as lacking features go. Easiest thing to implement by far.

Everything looks similar if you squint your eyes enough

If the bullets in this universe are grown inside the weapons firing them, why don't they just make bullets that continue to grow inside men

White indie devs are still making a living by ripping off Japanese games and pretending they’re doing something bold and original.

Nice try, Amerifat. Only white people have the chutzpah to say something like this.

Jews are white.
>>
>>3985778
Why do you hate white people?
>>
>>3985810
jews literally treat being white as a costume, they say they are white when they want to shit on white people and they say they are not white when they don't want to suffer the consequences of the hatred they stoke. Fuck them and fuck you, you offensive jew.

>>3985865
I can’t tell the difference most of the time.

>>3985883
Congratulations, the costume was effective on you.
>>
>>3978238
does it take a short time to beat and have more than one ending like Chrono Trigger?
>>
>>3978425
Honestly, you haven't played enough JRPGs to judge originality. CT isn't that special.
>>
>>3985883
That's because white is loosely used to include a myriad of ethnic groups.
>>
>>3989615
Sadly no, they basically ran out of money halfway through and decided to remove the "freedom to support any political side" with lots and lots and lots of dungeon crawling slop, which was easy to implement because of the marvelous level editor / lever placer the programmer did.

>>3989801
>CT isn't that special.
It might not be special to the Japanese (but I get the feeling that the features that Septerra Core ripped off are in fact special to CT) but it's obviously and objectively special to Western devs.
