Seems like you are not familiar with the difference between cast shadows and form shadows and only used the latter. Working with a pure white background also made you subconsciously form a bias towards extremely bright values instead of using the whole value spectrum in a more balanced manner.

I have experimented with adding cast shadows in the past. I was absolutely dogshit at them though and was focusing on comms so just reverted to doing what was comfortable so I wouldn't fuck those up. I guess i've been avoiding them since and it shows.

Also I did use a neutral 50% value grey for the background while rendering which probably makes it even worse that it looks like that lmao.

I can't say I understand the process of exactly what you've done with all the different layer effects and correction layers. I do get the general idea though.

Anyway you make good points and I'll start messing with adding cast shadows again. Thanks for the advice, JADF.
