- Marketed the men similarly to women: no collabs with women, idols, possible BFE for some of them. They tried to dip their toes into too many pools with Holostars, but what differentiates Hololive from other companies is same gender groups and otaku & idol pandering.
- Aside from Holostars like Gavis Bettel, who actually has a pretty good design, most of their designs look derpy. Not something that would attract female viewers. They seem like they wanted to pander to fans of both genders, but no matter how derpy you make the guys look, people will still get pissed off if you break the idol golden rule. It would have been better to appeal to girl & gay guys who only want to watch men and then appeal to women & gay girls with having only women.

Hololive's current issue is now, they are no different from Nijisanji or other agencies.

I don't know which manager greenlit Jurard making jokes about cucking their fans, and Shiori, when that is the opposite appeal of hololive to most male fans
>>
>>111149526
They flew too close to the sun, shoulda just stuck with what made money
>>
>>111149554
Dont you mean /pcg/? Phase just lost all of their collab partners and you're just fucking laughing, do you need Tenma or Pippa to give you a harsh lesson again on why you should support holostars?
>>
>>111149526
They need to disappear already, nobody likes failures

If anyone says "they should do fujobait BFE buzzword buzzword" I'll fucking kill you

If I meant /pcg/ I would've linked it, retard

pretty much this, I enjoyed early holoen until magni and later vesper started in with the cuck jokes. that very quickly torpedoed any naive notion I had that a "brotuber" could exist in this space. I still liked axel to a degree, but I couldn't watch him anymore because I now know what 99% of these guys are really like behind the vtuber persona. it's just not worth caring
>>
>>111149526
Even their hiring strategies were directly opposite to this approach, I remember Shinri talking about how people might assume hiw he is based on his voice (= bara) and that he's not like that.
>>
>>111149812
I said for some of them, asshole, not all.
I have seen female unicorns on /here/ so while women don't get as openly pissed as male unicorns, they exist and they do get jealous, but Hololive made the men so unattractive and bro-y that it is difficult to even have female fans that care that much.

I never replied to you I'm talking generally so I don't know why you're feeling called out unless that's what you would actually think.
That strategy is bound to fail anyway because women don't want to be in the same fanbase as a bunch of 30 year old incel men that don't shower. Not even saying that to deliberately insult, I'm saying exactly what people have observed at Hololive events irl.
>>
>>111149969
Female unicorns get extremely aggressive out in the open on a scale that makes male unicorns look like specks of dust, they just have no presence in the holostars fanbase
>>
>>111150196
Why not appeal to what brings in a profit, rather than try to put their fingers in too many jars? Rather than sticking to their niche, they tried too hard to go against their fanbase, why not just let other companies cross gender collab, while they stick to their own thing? By breaking their unicorn's fans trust, they have turned themselves into a generic vtuber corpo. Plenty of other vtubers do the cross-gender collab dynamic, but much better

That is like saying that animators shouldn't make CGDCT anime because it attracts stinky otakus and gamers, that logic is dumb and derogatory

Other way.
Focus on targeting the boys/men and the girls will follow. Funny is funny and most stream watchers are male to begin with. Cover just refused to grasp this simple concept and instead tried to half-ass everything, burning money on useless shit instead of doing any kind of research into ANY market.
Between kpop, chinese shit, and western boy bands, there's just no space for male idol chuubas in the tween girl/young adult female market unless you spend a fuckton of money supporting them. Even if you manage to capture the audience for a bit, they're extremely fickle and prone to moving on to the next boy toy quickly. (See NijiEN, PLAVE, etc. PLAVE was probably the longest success due to the obscene amount of songs and high budget content they put out)
Stars were fucked from the start. They might've stood a chance if they were marketed from the beginning as brotubers that sang occasionally allowing them to compete with other gaming channels rather than as male idols who also rarely sang due to lack of resources. The male idol yaoibait shtick chases off the main market that actually WATCHES gaming streams, and the girls into that kind of stuff don't care about watching video games.

In the end, Cover kept shoving useless shit down people's throats and blowing money on projects that nobody actually cared about instead of focusing on finding an audience that would actually watch their streamers and then supporting them through that. It's a real shame because several of their members are genuinely talented (Roberu, Bettel, Oga, etc.) but just get fucked over due to the absurdly misguided staff direction.

They have to be actually interesting. A little less than a week ago, they had thousands of eyes on them. More than they ever had and they couldn't do anything with it. This just shows that no amount of promotion will ever give these fags an audience, because they're simply not entertaining enough to hold one.

What you'd need to save them is better streamers. So you're shit out of luck.

>>111150782
Why does Cover blame them?
They hired them, so the responsibility falls on the company to make who they hired marketable.
>>
>>111150834
I mean, as long as we both agree that they suck
>>
>>111150834
Ever heard of the saying "you can't polish a turd"? And no, ultimately it's up to these fags themselves m to do their job well. Roberu managed somehow, how come the rest of these retards couldn't?
>>
>>111150834
they take responsibility by losing profit and cutting the funding
should they thought about their decisions better, sure
but if the people don't want to cooperate there is so much you can do
No amount of money or HR nannies can make a group successful
Girls started their branch not knowing it would work out but they still did what they could and eventually they realized that having a cohesive group of talents that play of each other and motivate each other is more important than money and HR
now that covid is over the window of opportunity is smaller plus cut funding, they are playing on hardcore, glhf

The animators don't have to share fandom spaces with the stinky otakus. Cover staff can easily insulate themselves from stupid Twitter fights but starmin kinda are forced to see their boys get shat on if they want to interact with other fans. And yeah I've also heard that some female fans tend to get uncomfortable around Hololive fans or the male fans of certain girls.

I think things would have gone WAY better for Holostars if they had grown up in their own path away from Hololive's shadow.
>>
>>111150881
>Roberu managed somehow
He essentially abandoned the Holostars brand and networked like crazy. He also had luck in that the kinda stuff he wanted to do happened to coincide with what Cover set for the guys and that he didn't really need corpo help to achieve that.
>>

>have to share space with
Not really, most hardcore vtuber fans are nerds. The ones willing to pay money and watch the streams, and if you are afraid of the man fans driving away normie girls then it just comes with the territory. Most of the small percentage of women who actually watch Hololive, are probably stinky themselves

There are anime idol concerts, where the seiyuus perform and it is similar to vtuber venues. If the company makes it known that they hate stinky otakus, then they are sacrificing a large portion of their fanbase, that will go to Phase or elsewhere with their money

Why specifically curate FWMC for otakus if you don't want stinky nerds???
>>
>>111151992
Seiyuus from anime do meet-and-greets with otaku, and unlike virtual girls, they don't get the nicety of hiding behind a screen

transition

i've made this stance known before, but i firmly believe they'd have a lot more of a base if they ditched streaming altogether and made some good old fashioned youtube videos pertaining to whatever niche they like, just like what kizuna did back then before she switched to streams. although, albeit, i'm not sure if there really is a demand for regular videos anymore with how skewed people's brains are from consuming too much shorts and tiktoks, but i think it's an interesting idea.

Headhunt male flesh tubers and pay them geatly and let them do their thing. Don't force them to do idol shit cuz flesh tubers don't do that shit. Even then 50/50 since there will be drama because dudes if you let them do their own shit will cause drama.

But there are pit falls to this
High freedom + High pay = Lazy (Gura, Ayame, etc)
High freedom + Low pay = Drama (VShitshow)
Low Freedom + High pay = Doesn't stream too busy with other Holo shit (HoloEN Gen1,2)
Low Freedom + Low Pay = Niji

There was an easy solution
Hire women to play androgynous "boys". Women love it, fags love it, men will tolerate it. Give them an incredibly cute and girly outfit to grab those otakubucks on occasion.
