I'm having a problem that I don't know if anybody can help me resolve it.
I bought some guy's old collection of (Japanese) Pokemon games, and I'm having trouble with Omega Ruby.
I insert it into my softmodded 3DS and nothing happens. Interestingly though the 3DS does seem to be reading it because using PKSM I'm able to look at and analyze his old save file no problem, it just doesn't show as a game I can play on the main menu and trying to load it from PKSM goes to a black screen and fails.
This is the only game from his collection that I'm having a problem with.
Is this something that any of you know how to resolve, or you know what's causing it, or anything that I can do at all about it?

Supposedly 3DS cart blanking is most common on Pokemon games for whatever reason. I don't know any technical details, but the carts hold a tiny amount of power in order to store data. If the carts aren't used for years the power may dissipate, and when it hits 0% complete data loss occurs (modern SSDs have the same issue). Carts get recharged in less than a second when inserted in a powered up system. Every serious 3DS collector nowadays cycles their collection every year or so. Also don't open sealed games, it's Russian roulette at this point... I would assume the save file survived because it's sitting on a different memory bank

Oh also. It's rumored that 3DS carts are reflashable, with hardware that Nintendo owns. But given how deep the Nintendo hacking scene is, I'm sure someone has ideas about how such a device works. And when the demand for that service eventually grows, someone will release some sort of product to let people rewrite carts, eventually, maybe

>Does that mean the cart is just straight up bricked?
It's not bricked, it's blank. May you rewrite it? No, no you may not. Not until you say pretty please enough times
>I'm not sure what I should do / should be doing here.
Put the cart in your closet and check the internet every decade or so to see if someone made a handy writer like Famicom Disk System collectors currently enjoy

Apparently some but not all. Early games used something different for memory or something?

Well, I think it's fucked. Thanks for the help guys, anybody know anything I could do with the cart? Since right now it's a paperweight.

It was at 0% after 11 hours running total, and after asking around I found out that the icon image isn't supposed to look like that it pulls it straight from the cart itself. If the icon is corrupted too then it's really fucked.
