Stalker to me isn't so much /x/, but it is a comfy movie. Probably is overrated in the way a lot of people see or read it, but if you ask me that can be said about a lot of movies with a certain aesthetic. Like how people will make a 2 hour essay about the deeper themes of Evangelion when its really just an embarrassing diary entry from Anno mixed with mechs, cute girls and some symbols and names he thought sounded cool.

pretty much anything "Hammer Horror" from the 1970's, you get alot that are based around supernatural, occult sacrifice wearing horned animal masks summoning baphomet wearing purple robes, usually a hot woman with tiddies out being the sacrifice, you see a lot of things that make you think someone had inside knowledge, as most people only saw shit like this in films until the bohemian grove alex jones video, there are so many similarities between the sacrificial scenes in the films and the "cremation ceremony" at bohemian grove.

>Are you just saying this because it involves an inner fake world and a real outter world?
Pic related. The Mattell CEO (Will Ferrell) represents the Demiurge in the movie.
The director of the movie (it was her first blockbuster) Greta Gerwig stated that the two films that influenced the Barbie film were Truman Show and The Matrix. Both Gnostic allegories.
In one scene, Stereotypical Barbie, the protagonist who acts as The Fool is forced to choose between the perfect, fabricated reality of Barbie Land and the truth of the real world.
Weird Barbie who makes the offer acts as a "Morpheus" figure, offering Barbie a choice represented by two footwear options: a pink high heel (representing staying in the blissful illusion) or a Birkenstock sandal (representing the harsh truth of the real world).
>>
>>42468401
The Wall perfectly maps to Carl Jung's concept of the Shadow archetype.
The album/film tells the story of Pink, a rock star who builds a metaphorical wall to cope with trauma, representing the destructive parts of the unconscious mind that we repress. From a spiritual and analytical viewpoint, encountering the Jungian shadow represents the first major phase of the soul's alchemical transformation.

barbie? i watched that clip and this is a film for kids? lolwut.
>>
>>42468450
>Weird Barbie who makes the offer acts as a "Morpheus" figure
Bump. She also says the choice is fake and makes a jab at free will, forcing normal Barbie to wake up. Weird Barbie is the trickster spirit.

She's built up to be an ominous person but the first thing she does is flirt with normal Barbie. Then smiles and shakes her hand. Says "sorry about the dog crap," telling the audience she's a portrayal of Sirius. Then she makes a raunchy sex joke about Ken. Tells normal Barbie there's a dual world. "We're all being played with..." and that every Barbie's life is controlled by a higher form of life, a human, using them like a doll. "And never the twain shall cross," talks about the veil and barrier between worlds which normal Barbie is disrupting because of her disharmony with her human. And so forth.

Brokeback Mountain. Not only the movie itself is a humiliation ritual for main actors involved (Heath Ledger for an example, who later was found dead "for no reason" , even though there was tons of evidence pointing to at least a heavy drug abuse or getting offed by his handlers), the movie itself being a wet dream come true to the most of /x/ homosexuals in denial. The title itself also points to something important - "Brokeback", as everyone after doing that movie had their moral spines broken.
>>
>>42476401
>moral spines broken
Broke Back is also play on words on the kundalini, our spinal nerves, which the occultists and larps say sodomy supposedly awakens. It's why Jesus threatens to step on necks (break the back/spinal cord), it was the metaphoric way of saying he could switch NPC's "off" too.

The Conspiracy (2012). It's found footage, but done in a way where it's necessary for it to be found footage. It's actually one of the better ones imo. It's exactly what you're looking for in fact because it's a conspiracy involving an occult group (secret society, same thing, there's occultism involved). Basically two conspiracy theorists try to infiltrate the secret society. The ending is well done too.

I would say Frailty. Bill Paxton directed kino. Starring Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughey, and Powers Boothe.

>QRD
>Sort of told in a flashback way
>McConaughey (Fenton) goes to Boothe (The Sheriff) to tell him his brother (Adam) was a serial killer
>Starts telling him the story from the beginning with his childhood
>Bill Paxton is a widowed father with two young sons and they live together in a little cottage in this small town
>One night he tells his sons that he's had visions that he needs to kill demons
>Demons who are larping as humans
>Fenton thinks he's having some kind of mental breakdown, but Adam believes him
>Paxton gets his holy weapons; he makes an axe inscribed with 'OTIS', a pair of gloves, and a piece of pipe
>Then he has a list of names of these demons in disguise and begins hunting them down

I can't really say much more than that without spoiling it and I haven't done a great job of selling it, but it's actually a really good and underrated film. Definitely /x/.

Otherwise, idk if this thread about something like Akira, no? Maybe I don't understand something.

I mean the scientists are trying to create a god in the flesh to win WW3, succeed with bringing ESP powers out in a couple kids (GATE), one of them becomes a god, this kid then creates a new universe and destroying Tokyo in the process. Lie about all of it, say it was a nuke. The conspiracies and research continues, while the remaining kids are given a special drink to suppress their ESP to prevent another Akira-event. Years later a group of rebels that knows about all of it then breaks one of them out during a massive protest over wealth inequality in Neo-Tokyo, and in the process runs into Tetsuo, a teenager in a motorcycle gang. Tetsuo coming into contact with the ESP kid unlocks ESP powers within Tetsuo, the scientists abduct and test Tetsuo. Tetsuo is the first person since Akira to be this powerful. However Tetsuo is probably one of the worst people to have these powers however. He's got a massive inferiority complex, zero control, and has 0 idea of what is happening to him. The scientist's don't care and are more concerned with success then considering whether they should. They release him back into the public. Eventually his power's develop and he becomes a god in the flesh, however he uses it mostly for revenge and to be worshipped as a god. Then Tetsuo loses control and Akira comes back and brings him into his new universe. Although most of the movie focuses on actions scenes and the like, the story is quite /x/. A plethora of movies ever since have been inspired by it, especially The Matrix, this is also why the other 2 aren't as good as the original as half of it is basically Akira. The Machines are Tetsuo mostly after being heavily mistreated in their childhood by humanity. I will admit however most of the movie focuses on actions scenes and the like, the story is pure /x/ kino.

Ok, fine. In the context of this thread, why not.
Tbh, it's been some couple of decades since I seen it last.
Altho, the matrix definitely was not inspired by it. but that's a whole different story.
I'd love to hear more though, regardless wherether I see it the same way... or not. duh.

It's a live action anime, Akira was the first big break through for mature-themed Anime in the west. After thinking about it ya the story probably isn't, the cinematography and action definitely is though.

Ratatouille, hear me out as it's about the creative process. You have the pure idea which the ghost chef. Then you have the rat which interprets those ideas. Then the rat uses the human to actually make what he wants while struggling a bit. At one point the human gets into conflict with the rat because of a distraction (love) and the rat gets into conflict with the ghost chef for a brief moment (The first time he wanted to steal ingredients). Then you have literally have a character named Ego that suffers ego death and becomes happier for it, and the frozen product line that represents how the world takes you creations for itself and corrupts them.

The series that were released as The Third Eye in the US. I guess Into The Labyrinth and maybe Under The Mountain are more fantasy than the other series but certainly worth watching. Also maybe The Quiet Earth and Sweet Movie.

Heraclitus the obscure (1967)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nhLxgLBji48&pp=ygURSGVyYWNsaXRlIGxvYnNjdXLSBwkJOAsBhyohjO8%3D&ra=m

Adaptation of the fragments of Heraclitus. Driven by disgust at the materialism, debauchery and atheism of the city of Ephesus, Heraclitus goes to the wilderness to live in seclusion and contemplate the divine fire of the Logos. Though being a short film this covers the most important of the fragments.

Stalker is not supposed to be entertaining. If you watch it under any pretense or expectation you are missing the point.

Tarkovsky's most accessible and equally influential but less acknowledged film is L'Offret/ The Sacrifice. Watch that if you are new to Tarkovsky and expect a movie that has a plot and characters.

Yes, many of the films you all are discussing are clearly vessels for esoteric ideas; some obviously, some behind facades, but all intentionally.
The problem is that these movies lack instrumentality in society. The Matrix may be esoteric and even appeal to the occult, but viewers don't watch it for that. The esoteric themes are only a plot device delivered in a cliche'd fashion; the Oracle, the Chosen One, etc. They're memes and do not deliver contemplation on these ideas. They use them. The Matrix, Twin Peaks, etc., occupy space in the public consciousness because they draw interest through spectacle. The esoteric ideas are set dressing for a commercial product that only exists if the product is commercially viable.

What's my point?
Western esoteric tradition is based on individual interpretation. Ideas are not static, they are subject to the times and experiences of the person who inhabits them.

2001: A Space Odyssey was advertised as a science fiction film. It opens with classical music on Earth, in the deep past. It has no action, just establishing shot and then mundanity. Even the most powerful scenes in the film are carefully restrained. No close ups, no cuts, just music and set pieces.
Kubrick was very smart to package the movie as science fiction when in reality that's a trick to get people into the theatre. HAL9000 could have been anything other than an AI and the message of the film would not change. The setting could have been Homer's Odyssey or mankind's uncertain future.
2001 is the ultimate example of how a man can create a philosophical mediation on film and have it explode to dominate the public psyche. This is what makes Kubrick a genius. He knew how the mind of the average person worked and he also knew how thoughts are conveyed in modern society.

And perhaps the most telling fact is that nobody here has brought this film up, even though it is no doubt the most existential and esoteric film ever made with no close second.

the Bohemians an African death shaman is tasked to assassinate Bill Murray, an international businessman and adversary to the Bohemians. the death shaman assassin stays awake for several days, possibly weeks, to be guided into the kill location by field operatives who use various forms of synchronicity to prepare him to teleport into a highly militarized facility to perform the kill.

Jarmusch and his actors wrote the film as they made it. while not presented as easter eggs, each instance in which the death shaman assassin pays special attention to what would've otherwise been seen as innocuous and insignificant. to do his work, he must see the world as a schizophrenic sees it, with a runaway condition of semiosis

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiosis

wherein each of the daily activities he must perform has some direct link and reason he must use to perform his work. the Bohemians communicate to him by selected specific exhibits to display in an art gallery, which the African uses in his sleep deprived state where he begins to penetrate the veil between our world and the world of the dead.

after he uses these waypoints and guides to ensure he does not get lost, he uses his sleep deprived state and imagination to leave the world of the living, enter the world of the dead, and reemerge without getting lost. the Bohemians employed remote viewers and other persons to provide him specific instructions in esoteric form which he will need in his journey through the world of the dead. in each interaction with the guides, each of them give him information he needs to not get killed by counter-assassins looking for him and other dangers.

I could talk about that film all day.
>>
>>42504649
I need to rewatch it but I only remember a couple of esoteric example from the Last Unicorn. The first one being how they trick the skeleton only for the skeleton to know he is being tricked but accepts the illusion, and the very premise of regret.

It doesn't really matter who said it if what they're saying is true. There's an old meme about Communists arguing that water isn't wet because Hitler said it was. I wouldn't expect you to understand that neither.
You've done like a reverse appeal to authority. Rather than say why the quote wasn't true you've gone straight for the cope and used a funny arrow. Likely because it struck to close to home.
You're displaying all of the attributes of a peak pseud because you were filtered by a 4/10 flick. This anon >>42503065 who definitely isn't you (it is) really isn't helping your cause neither.
>>
>>42505519
hate to break the news to you buddy, but multiple people can reply and disagree.
I gave the movie a 3/10 so stop acting like your opinion is so much more valuable than mine when you rated it the same. There's nothing to get filtered by when the depth of it is generic cliches (the 'truther' is presented as crazy and yelling is the street. oh wow he said 9/11 was an inside job so wacky. oh wow now the researcher believes him and his friend doesn't believe him so original. oh wow now they're being followed never saw that coming. oh wow the secret society is totally like real life so epic!)
It's a boring movie for people with surface level knowledge on conspiracies. Fucking moron.
