Good luck! It's not impossible or anything, just realize that you'll probably need to plan ahead for opening classes for income. KB pay is not great.

Thank you! And I heard that, I could also do boxing, but I love kickboxing much more. Did it a few years when I was 18, but stopped to focus on education etc., biggest mistake of my life lol because it got me nowhere except older. I also heard that connections are pretty important, but my old trainer is a friend of the father of my friend, and he knows all the guys in the country, even the ones who teach the police and stuff. But he is one greedy and slimy mfer, and from the events where I have been, it seems like 90% of promoters and gym trainers are like that, which is honestly one of the parts I look the least forward to, but that's life. Only thing I can do about it is start my own promotion one day and ensure its cool

Just train. If you're ready to fight, you'll know. If you aren't cut out for it, you'll know.

Sadly where I live is like a wasteland for boxing gyms, but I got some thing and enough space to train at home and my best friend is also the best friends of a few ex pro kickboxers, but they are all older now and work dayjobs and have families, so I can't depend on them too much, but they can gauge how ready I am at least and maybe work their connections a bit to hook me up with an organization, I heard lots of the organizations at beginner level are pretty cutthroat and get you nowhere

It really depends on your fight IQ and talent. The UFC institute literally studies the average decline of fighters and it's typically 34, that's when you slow down reflexes wise, or recovery wise. So that is 9 years which is a long career. The only catch is this brother If you believe in yourself don't hesitate and waste any more time.

Bumping to ask an equally dumbass question. Which is worse: a 30yo. amateur boxer or a 30yo. amateur mma fighter? Both want to compete on either a national or global (amateur) level by the age of 30 while having started actual, consistent martial arts training from 26. No intentions for pro fights or really training seriously beyond the age of 30-32. How much of a fucking autistic dipshit am I?

do you have a background in anything? the regional MMA scene is pretty hit or miss, whereas people have been boxing since childhood (actual sport). If you can train 2-3 martial arts a week without injuring yourself
(probably just BJJ, Kickboxing) then it's probably achievable. Check what national tournaments there are.

you'll probably lose to some gen alpha kid either way though

Mma somehow is worse and better at the same time. Because of the variety you can get away with a lot of BS and defeat guys who would be able to beat you if it was a more focused fighting sport like kickboxing. Just rock-paper-scissors your way to the top
