Have any of you dudes tried 97a F4s? I need new wheels and I've always stuck with 99a duro, but I'm thinking about switching it up. I'm worried 97a will fuck up my slide tricks
Do you guys have a pastebin or any resources on getting a new board/hardware? I haven't owned a skateboard in 15 years, but wanted to play around for a bit.
>>253264 How much does board size matter? Is that just a preference thing? Wheels too, is that just preference? And for bearings, do I go with whatever brand the wheels are? I'm looking to get something to casually ride here and there while being able to do some basic tricks.
>>253292 Narrow board and small hard wheels make for easier flip tricks and slides. Wide board and large soft wheels make general riding, balancing and controlling the board easier and more enjoyable. All three can make a big difference but it's always a tradeoff. Bearings don't really matter as a beginner unless you get generic brand shit ones that don't roll well or wear out quick.
how many days in a row do you think you could skate I just did 2 straight and I’m dying But I haven’t been hitting the board or the gym lately so my stamina sucks rn
>>253227 I've rode OJ Nomad 95 wheels, they are a bit less slidey true, but you can definitely get a powerslide going with them, just will require more speed and effort
in other news, welcome put out a new video, it's actually kinda ok. FAT NORA is so lazy she only got 1 clip. they've already replaced her with another girl lol.
>>253246 /esg/ used to have a pastebin OP regularly, until a troll from /wwe/ started blasting the threads. I am still bitter. But I am even more bitter that I can't find a decent archive for /asp/.
>>253420 >tranny >"lesbian" is this some sort of joke? You people are so retarded its insane lets be real: You are a straight man with autogynephilia. Any thing else is just 1984 newspeak fluoride overdose backwards talk rewriting definitions vaxxed and boosted guzzling red 40 seed oil slop induced brain damaged retardation
Thinking of buying a Heated Wheels board. I went to check out their site and the boards are sold in shapes, sizes and you can also choose top and bottom graphics. Heated Wheels and Santa Monica Airlines, how much more core can you get?
>>253549 Just fucking chill you spastic. Are you on a meth binge again?
>>253562 >boards are sold in shapes, sizes and you can also choose top and bottom graphics. thats very neat desu. black label also runs a few options like that.
What? What are we talking about? Ryan Lay is cool, he skated for Palestine immediately after Thrasher made a part in "Israel". And he is a good skater too. Where was he dissed?
I recently realised I've been wearing shoes that are 2 sizes too large for me while skating. I suspect this, combined with the fact I was wearing lifestyle Vans instead of Skating Vans might have been the source of some foot pain after a fairly short amount of skating
You guys ever skated in too large shoes? Similar experience?
>>253622 I have s9mewhat wide feet so I've always worn larger sized shoes to accomodate them, since I started skating though I realised that I've let the size get a bit ridiculous and they're simply too loose at this point. When you've got space 9n the toe, either side of the ball AND in the heel it's time to rethink things
Annoyingly there's nowhere local that sells skate rated Vans, I've had to order them blind off the Web, I just hope my estimated correct size will be a good fit
>>253624 Vans in general have enormous heels. I bought a pair of sk8 his and the amount of slop in the heel even with the shoes laced ridiculously tight was too absurd to put up with, it felt like I was trying to skate in snow boots. Give the Nike low/mid blazers a shot, the heels are fairly narrow but the forefoot has a good amount of room.
>>253619 yes, shoes are a problem to me, I used to pick up larger sizes because foot is wide, and they desing shoes for lankets, right now my shoes feel like shit
There's a million other things, but these were the things that changed the game for me. Especially jumping a tad bit forward and diagonally WHILE flicking up and out through the nose (not off to the side).
>>253625 They have arrived Can confirm, a bit overly spacious heels, might try tightening the laces around my ankle to compensate, conversely the toebox and area around the ball of my foot is snug as a bug, it's quite an odd feeling, hopefully they'll feel more natural as I wear them in
>>253637 Also, a wear comparison with my old shoes I hadn't realised quite how far they'd gone, looks like I tend to be quite heavy on my outside foot, a symptom of the sizing issue perhaps?
>>253647 >doesn't instantly recognize the waffle outsole holy fucking poser. Did you start skating yesterday? even normies know exactly what brand that is at a glance
>>253645 >Bro he helps kids based >is political and other gay shit like being a Palestine fag That's a lot of skaters. He has good style and a great bag of tricks. His part in the sci fi video was the best one.
>>253641 Was it maybe a joke? Because his Palestine part was also releases by Thrasher. Also, he had or still has a podcast with Ted Burrow and another girl, didn't he?
>>253653 >>253655 So we went from >OMG that shoe is from da jooz! What are they even called so I can heckin' avoid it! I'm a skater btw! to >Erm, actually... Vans is problematic and not core™
>>253658 >never owned a pair in 20+ years of skating >none of my homies ever owned a pair >therefore never saw the sole up close >only ever see them on non skaters >post example of their true target market >evidence they use skate culture like all other corporate brands >learn they're owned by Israel supporting VF corp I don't deny I went full blown retard but it doesn't mean I am not right. Vans are gay.
I had a little sesh the other day. Nothing much, just doing my ollies and my 180s and nollies. Mad how much I need skateboarding. Mad how good skateboarding is.
I'm basically a jock, look like a jock dress like a jock, jock friends all that good stuff, but I'm good at skateboarding, what do you think of me? I think it's the best way to be I dont wanna be a skater fag
>>253707 lmao, what? it requires you being male and obsessing over the woman's perspective due to pornography consumption. all of this describes 99.9% of transwomen, btw.
>>253668 airwalks are from the 80s you moron. vans existed when skateboarding was in its infancy and they were a major choice amongst the surfer/skater pioneers. you can not like them, i don't even wear them, but they are a skate shoe.
>>253721 >Yes, Vans shoes were immensely popular in the 1970s, particularly within the Southern California As I said maybe regional.. Vans is lame. I also just realised they self inserted themselves into the dogtown and zboys documentary. What a kook company.
>>253725 I'm a fan of Half Cabs. My kickflips were god tier when I skated them. I usually go with Nike though, so all the coretards in here hate my guts for not supporting Soletech's flimsy shoes that only last 2 weeks.
>>253725 Ever since they redesigned their shoes and made a dedicated skate line, it's been downhill. The non skate versions blow through in a matter of days at best, and the skate versions have thicker outsoles and a really thick insole, so there's way less room for your foot plus no board feel. Vans were great when they were $30 in a market where everything else was $50+, but now they're charging you $70 for a shoe that's worse than it used to be while everything else in the market is much closer in price.
>>253751 those super thick "popcush" insoles are so weird. they make it so you're feet just don't fit inside the shoe very well. i actually take them out and use them for my workboots lmao. i then just replace them with other thinner insoles and then the vans are ok. but why did they think they were a good idea in the first place...
damn thank fuck I'm not as mentally ill as the delusional narcissistic dudebro who thinks he looks like a girl and who posts selfies on 4chan, miss me with that shit man
>>253784 >>253790 I don't see Vans being worn. >>253787 Old msg's to chicks lol. Posted here years ago I knew some stuff he did back in the day that Slap would be very upset about. Funny to regular people who went through that stage in life (partying and picking up girls) it is nothing, but todays woke retards would go nuts.
>In 1989, Vans released the first signature skate shoe ever – from any brand – for Powell rider Steve Caballero, who was mentioned earlier as one of the Bones Brigaders that was an early adopter of the Air Jordan 1 THERE. NOW GO WESR YOUR STAR OF DAVIDS WITH PRICE KNOWING THEY DIDN'T CREATE A SLATE SHOE NTIL 1989 WELL AFTER AIRWALKS, JORDANS, CHUCK TAYLORS WERE POPULAR NO GO SUCK SOME CORPORATE DICK FAGGOTS
>>253795 >retarded I know I am wrong but there is no fun in accepting defeat on an anonymous image board so I will argue ambiguous points until it's unclear what the discussion was even about.
>>253798 Thats a random anon engaged by my enthralling arguement. Also we moved from nikes and corporate brands to skater owned. Hence why vans sucks and so does nike.
>>253799 Yeah you got assblasted because you were wrong. They’re shoes and skateboarding was probably cooler when you could just wear what worked for you and not worry about who made it or whatever. There was only a short window where the things made for skateboarding were actually engineered for function over fashion and it was like 95-05
>>253803 He might be tolerated but you’re probably one of the 4chan-as-social-media faggots who thinks we should be posting mid ass clips instead of calling each other niggers and arguing about shoes.
>skate for 5 years >get injured badly multiple times >can't commit to stairs or gaps anymore >cant commit to anything new anymore >ollies lose height >can't get over the mental blocks help. i feel like a beginner, cant hop on ledges like i used to, can't commit to new shit, the mental blocks are REAL. how can i over come my fear and skate like i used to?
>>253815 You need to pare back your expectations. Skate with the intention of having fun rather than landing every trick you've ever known. It will all come back naturally over time. No negative self talk allowed. Keep it light until that confidence comes back. Pushing yourself too hard will only get you injured again.
>>253816 thanks for your response. dont get me wrong, i can still have fun with my shallow bag of tricks, but progression is what i need and unfortunately 'keeping it light' is how i got to this point. im TOO comfortable. im stuck in my comfort zone and i feel like im unable to leave it; im looking for a method or new way of thinking to help get over my fear of getting hurt.
>>253647 i remember when i was in school other kids would say vans is a nazi company and thats why they have the star of david on the bottom to step on it every time u walk
>>253839 I tore some ligaments in my right ankle which ironically made it easier for me to do a bunch of tricks switch rather than regular since that ankle has a wider range of motion now.
>>253887 >Man lands on his skull and gets brain damage >Proceeds to talk down to people using helmets as they're "for kids" Will brother man revise his stance when he's reduced to the mind of a child? I suspect we will get to find out eventually
>>253916 Koston did some gay shit, Stevie called him a faggot, and Kareem is involved because the gay shit Koston did was pointing to pictures and videos of Stevie and repeatedly saying it was Kareem. Koston is a scientologist so he refuses to admit Stevie exists and will turn off like a robot if asked about the whole thing.
>be with my niece out skating >hear unintelligible yelling from a distance >hear same yell again >and again >its some boomer with his hands on his hips looking at us >we both stop in front of him to listen clearly >he says where are your helmets
>>253973 Scientology is very aggressive about forcing its members to cut off people the church views as a potential threat to that member's continued patronage. How do they do this? You have to give them a list of people who know/associate with and they investigate those people and rank them on a threat matrix with the "threat" being how likely this person is to tell you you're crazy when you proselytize.
>>253991 This stupid shit got me banned from slap message boards again.
They have a thread dickriding Thrasher for this and literally all I said was I think it's hypocritical for Thrasher to act like they're the moral guidance we should be looking to, and I even specified that that doesn't mean I support what Trump's doing. And with that they instantly banned my years-old account with the note "MAGA troll."
Like fucking hell, how much of an echo chamber do you need, guys? Pathetic board over there.
>>254221 I don't know why, but I tried to create an account there several times and it said I was banned. Without ever having an account. Yeah, they're an echo chamber, but on the other hand your comment was high-handed; it is a skateboarding forum, of course they're going to post Thrasher taking a stance on that.
>>254267 Sorry, I didn't mean to say high-handed, I didn't know what the colloquialism means, it just sounded appropriate in my head (chad.jpg). I know now. I wanted to say your comment came off as preachy, as an external observer trying to evaluate a scene of which they are not a part, oblivious to the separation.
>>254903 it's hearsay from a woman who could just as easily be namedropping random famous people for clout. let's not forget the majority of the women who Epstein 'diddled' were teenagers. you think a 13 year old chick doesn't know what she's in for when some rich old man offers her tens of thousands of dollars for a "free vacation"? She probably doesn't even regret it, she just wants her 15 minutes of fame.
>>254900 Nothingburger and I'm tired of conspiracy tards thinking everybody who went there were all fucking kids, he seemed like a cool dude if you didn't know about pedo shit, and that shjt was accepted in the 90s anyway
>>254943 I mean.. I am not fully convinced. Why bring up the other Epstein? All these celebs are worming their way out with carefully crafted messages.
>>255055 If my name came up in these files saying I was at the island and I wasnt I'd do everything I could to verify they were fake. Maybe post actual images of all my weddings proving they are 100% definitely not on the child rape Island. I seriously hope it's fake news but it's just his word for now. >>255062 Because your posts are now being cryptographically signed and sent to NSA
>first time skating since almost 3 weeks >mid session I do a really fast switch bs 180 >mid to upper back to starts to hurt since the movement was too fast >have to endure that pain for the rest of the sesh Shit sucks bros
Anybodys life after skating way better than their skate life? Grass has been greener for me, I'm glad kids coming up don't put their whole life into this toy
Did seriously not a single person pay for and leak the SkateIQ programs. That jew is out of his fucking mind if he thinks i'm gonna cough up $160 to watch some videos on how to pop a board.
>>255310 Well it's kinda similar but just less gay and childish, ya know? Plus I have neet status now which is great but it does feel weird having all this free time and not wanting to skate, but like I said it's much better cause I'm not a faggot anymore
>>255366 Me and my homie used to sesh the middle and high school across from each other when we were kids. One time we did a heist and went through the roof into the nurses office and stole some kids Adderall pills it was sick. We would smoke blunts on top of the auditorium. One time we fucked the high school up and got 1st degree burglary
>>255371 Actually in best shape of my life. I go for roons all the time. Maybe you should quit too bro cause you seem negative, maybe you need to switch it up
>>255309 >>255338 you do you buddyroo but I feel much less gay and childish being an employed adult with a hobby I can share with my kid than I would being a neet who takes pride in the things he doesn't do
>>255414 Oh, so its this fag. You aren't that good, and a lot of those clips are sloppy. You've posted this over a decade old footage in many /esg/ threads. I've never seen a clip from you that isn't over a decade old. My guess is that you're fat now.
>>255373 Is it a good spot? Hey I wonder where the anon with the dyi spot it, the one who was complaining that the spot blew up and even Thrasher showed up to do some filming.
>>255429 >Bro do you not think I got any better in 16 years? We've never seen proof of that. You insist on posting that busted ass video over and over again >those shoes Woah are you also the shoefag?
>>255431 >posts 16 yr old footage >looks 30 in footage Your fucking like 45 cunt, some dead beat attention seeker shitting up the thread and you don't even skate.
>>255424 its a crusty loading bay spot on some college campus with like a 3 ft drop, security are such bitches its abandoned and literally gonna be demolished in a few months time
>>253227 i was on the 97 f4's not that long ago and they actually slide really well. i ride the 99 f4 now tho and honestly id never go back to the 97 because the 99's just do everything better desu like even on rougher terrain id prefer the 99 because i think its a little more predictable in how itll handle it
>>255365 >I'm actually really good and have awesome style > proceeds to post >>255414 lol, when you have short legs and blocky movement the least you could do is have some speed and pop
>>255333 I have some of the older stuff saved from maybe a year back, only basics like 180s. I paid once, downloaded what I wanted, then cancelled the sub and watched whatever YT shit he puts out for free. He is in full grifter mode at the moment. His 'business model' has a beginner target demographic, because obviously beginners are the desperate and impressionable ones likely to spend money to get all the 'secrets' (the exact same video you can see on YT for free) and there is also a constant flow of them. This is why he's on his 3rd or 4th iteration of 'how to kickflip' videos, so the algorhythm will make a fresh catch of newbies. Enjoy 'how to 180' in a month or so, then back around to 'how to ollie' after that. I guarantee you whatever video you're talking about, it's just the same info that's all over his YT channel already, but the footage is more recent.
TLDR; it's a scam, he's already given you all the info for free on youtube.
i've skated for over 5 years and i don't have fun anymore. i just turned 21 and im not sure if its worth the risk of injury anymore, yet my identity is tied so heavily to skateboarding that the void left in its place would be too big, plus i think about skating all day and consume skate media regularly. ive watched my friends progress so much farther than me, i was aways the one to end up filming for them at spots that were above my skill level, and i got really good at backing out of things that intimidated me. to put into perspective: my buddies can nose grind the bump to ledge, treflip stairsets/gaps, boardslide etc. and i cant barley even lock into a 5050. today i went to the skatepark and landed 1 singular back 180 on the big hip while my friend shreds pretty much everything. the cherry on top was the local sponsored guys showing up to skate the park like it was a videogame. made me feel so defeated. like actually ruined my day. the thing is, i let bad sessions like this ruin my mood all the time. and im so sick of it. and no im not fat. can anyone relate? should i just quit?
>>255547 Being good is not important it's about having fun with the bros. If you enjoy hanging with the bros skating do it if you don't quit. Maybe you can just transition to the full time filmer and learn editing n shit. Your identity is not important but I know it is as a 21 yo but you can still dress like a skater and just be a poser
>>255547 I literally picked up a board for the first time back when i was 21 and this shit is still the best thing ever. Can I do even half the shit that the more experienced guys on the local scene can do? Fuck no. I show up and push my own limits whenever I can anyway. Doing dangerous shit that scares you keeps you alive maybe you need to change your perspective?
>>255547 >21 >risk of injury Lmao you’re a baby Maybe focus on other stuff but you will eventually come back and you will feel sorry for all the time you didn’t invest in getting better and you will feel worst because you’re still not good
>>255557 you're exactly right, i am a baby. that's why i haven't been able to keep up with my friends. the only difference between us; i got hurt while they rolled away. 2 broken wrists, and 4 missing ligaments in both ankles later... here i am. stuck behind a mental block so thick i cant see myself ever overcoming it. my legs get shaky at the sight of stairs these days.
>>255547 Step away for a while and let your mind focus on other things. When you come back I promise you that just riding your board will feel cathartic. Every skater has felt something like what you're describing. Stop comparing yourself to your homies, and start comparing yourself to yourself a year ago.
I'm quite a bit older than you, and I can tell you that the 2-3 years that I quit skating are a big regret for me. You have a lot of solid years in front of you if you stick with it.
>>255558 you dont *have* to skate gaps and stairs, worst case you could be like a bowl or a slappy kerb guy Just focus on what you actually enjoy doing.
>>255589 Retardedly expensive if you actually skateboard. Unless you get flow or a trust fund kid like versace plug. Malor TEs are like $56 on nike sb right now and skate way better as they're closer to the NB tiagoss shape. This shit will be scalped and on resale for $300 the second it drops anyway.
>>255547 >i just turned 21 and im not sure if its worth the risk of injury anymore Holy fucking beta bitch soipost I'm gonna turn 30 soon and i would still rather get bodied doing an fs flip on stairs than sit in my cuck cubicle. Bu-bu-but who's gonna support my wife's tyrone's kids if i get a boo-boo :( Go bomb a hill or stop posting in this thread.
>>255648 Paying over 60$ for a pair of shoes is for sucker chumps, there's always a sale somewhere
>>255649 I see older skateboarders all the time doing just fine, I'm 33 and apart from a wrist that gets slightly stiff from time to time I'm in much better shape than my coworkers who don't skate, even the ones who go to the gym and/or run
>>255649 I have a fucked up knee that starts killing me an hour in the session yet i still go out to skate. There is an actual balding grey hair gramps that still carves vert and does bigspins at my local joint. You're coping+bad at skateboarding, might as well quit now.
>>255422 i got a bunch of setups coming from multiple places, tgm gets here in 24 hours, skatewarehouse a week, tactics like two weeks, gives you something to look forward to
>>255651 >>255653 Who the fuck are you negative nancy crab in a bucker nigger faggots you certainly do need to take care of your body as you get older don't gaslight the youngins
Why is there a universal sizing standard for shoes if it doesn't matter at all? Even within the same brand, I can be one size in one style and a size and a half different in another style with no notice on either shoe that it runs big or small. It makes buying shoes online a complete pain in the ass and my alternative is driving 40 minutes one way to the nearest shop that might not even have anything that fits me at all.
>>255733 check for brands and guides look for cm or inches for their "universal" number also, I think shoe industry needs at least 2 sizes, long and wide, not only long.
>>255742 It doesn't help that most brands don't make wide shoes at all, let alone maintain two entire separate lines to account for width. >>255743 It's not a gender thing. Nike and Vans are the worst about it in my experience with size 11 being perfect for the slip on while the sk8-hi has nearly two inches between the end of my toes and the end of the shoe in the same size. Nike's just all over the place. I'm an 11 in the PS8, 11.5 in most of their other styles, a 12 in the P-Rod, and a 12.5 in the force 58. Interestingly, I'm a different size in all 3 heights of the dunk.
>>255779 I've been a hardcore glazer of enjoi ever since i saw mullen's thps3 video as a kid. Loved their designs in Skate 1-2-3 too, actually happy to see it come back home. That said i ain't buying a fucking panda, give me 8.5 Spectrum for like 70 buck and i might consider it.
>>255894 As much as I hate the guy, that level of desperation is concerning. He hasn't recovered yet no matter what he says, but he needs to keep himself relevant and competing to continue to fund and fuel his lifestyle.
>>255929 just watched because yourepost their phone convo was fun the rest I lost the thread and I couldn't care less still do not know tho that Brink guy is
