You have merge vertex by distance in blender to do it after the weld too.

Weld is a nonddestructive modifier. What you want is go into edit mode, select everything and merge by distance

retopology with le retopoflow (becomes 10 fps fest with 2 million meshes) got replaced by topogun. works on my machine butterly flawless with megameshes.
