there's a way to access the amount of nyanpasses, I forgot the command line input, but you can probably find it in the 25 days of autism threads, or just look up "nyanpass" in the archives and someone's probably written it there. You have to write it in your Command Line, and then it'll pop up with the number, but it won't play the sound, and you just have to spam the command over and over again to increase the number

It seems everything still works except for the homepage, maybe the website got hacked and the homepage was made to redirect to some scam website? Would be nice if there was a way to hack back in and restore it.
The count is currently at 25622216504.
Stole the command from the archive and modified it to play the sound (only works if you have curl and mpv, ytdl might be required as well)
curl --post301 --location -d " nyan=pass" https://nyanpass.com/add.php && mpv https://nyanpass.com/nyanpass

yeah, it's a 301 redirect, i remember looking into it and iirc it doesn't redirect if you curl it, which leads me to believe it's a js inject somewhere

Once you watch the show, she will live in your mind forever. Some of the other characters as well. One of the marks of a true masterpiece is characters that really stick with you like that, if you ask me. I know it's autistic, but sometimes I will use one of her catchphrases to react (in my thoughts, not out loud).

Episode 1:
Perfect opening sequence. The pace of the shots tells you exactly what you're going to get, while efficiently introducing the characters and setting in a show-don't-tell way. It's farms, mountains, not a lot of houses, and the houses are mostly traditional. Everything screams: lived in, rural setting. We see Renge with her school backpack, just as the music begins to start becoming more diegetic, but only the most eagle-eyed viewer would notice the instrument, until the next time we see her after additional establishing shots. Then we see one of those school route signs, just to make it absolutely clear this is a story about going to school. Next we're introduced to Komari waiting by the front door of her house. We sit in that moment for just a moment before Natsumi runs in the background, frantic. Komari doesn't wait any more, turns around and is walking to school by herself before Natsumi is seen again in her uniform, still frantic. More establishing shots, and then the mailbox with the tied up moving boxes. This is a more modern house. Hotaru exists confidently, a little smile on her face, but we don't yet see her eyes, almost as if to say we're looking through her eyes at the world she's just moved to, which each of the other shots. Her confidence and poise is contrasted almost right away with Natsumi running, clearly late. Finally, two minutes and 25 seconds in, Renge begins her narration, and she begins to outline the central conflict of the story.
Sometimes she wonders, is she... (we zoom in on a cow)... living in the country?

Hotaru's surprise at everything would seem to confirm Renge's fears, but Natsumi, the one Renge has interacted with the most so far, confidently reassures her that no, the things they have in their rural life does not mean they are living in the sticks, but rather the opposite. Hotaru is still too much of an outsider to interject, and so she remains largely an observer to this interaction, and so the tension of the central conflict remains. These scenes give us more of an understanding of the relationships. Hotaru is new here, and while she is confident in life generally, she is not confident with her new friends. The others have preexisting relationships that seem real, unique, and longstanding. The sisters have a particular dynamic. Natsumi's relationship with Renge is different from Komari's relationship with Renge. The contrast serves to better differentiate Hotaru as an outsider here, the observer. Renge seems like the protagonist, while Hotaru is the point-of-view.

At lunch, we again see Hotaru as the stand-in for the audience, experiencing this all for the first time, and with Renge as the primary driver of the story. One balances the other, as Renge is familiar with all of this, comfortably navigating this rural life, but is fearful and maybe even ashamed of it. While Hotaru is brand new to this, not as comfortable in her interactions, but every part of it fills her with wonder and joy. She loves the new food, it tastes like spring, the ingredients were all freshly gathered. Renge tells Hotaru to save her dessert. She knows what's up the hill and wants to share with her new friend. Even if Hotaru has some confusion and questions about where they're going and why, we are treated to her perspective, the soft, wondrous music, the beautiful shots of the forest path. Even as she trips on the uneven terrain, she can look up into the light and see her new friends waving to her and calling to her to join them. This isn't a scary moment, it's just all novel. There's no part of her that is hating her surroundings, or ashamed to be living here now. This a joyous moment. Up on the hill, the smile on Hotaru's face from the opening sequence becomes even bigger as Renge looks at her. Renge's conflict remains, but already we know the eventual resolution, Hotaru's acceptance of this place, as a transplanted outsider from Tokyo, will surely help Renge to accept her home as well. But that's not for today. A missed bus and Natsumi's frustration brings Renge's fear back to the forefront in the final scene. This is a conflict that will have to play out for the rest of the season, at its own, slow pace.

Episode 2:
We begin with narration from Hotaru. She's explaining the differences between her old life and her new life, but there's no hint of resentment or dislike in her voice. It's matter-of-fact, she's accepting of it all. Surprise is not fear or disgust. Hotaru is a happy girl, and seems to like everyone, but especially Koma-chan. Along the way we discover that Renge is certainly a smart and thoughtful person, and Natsumi is definitely not. But the central conflict between Renge and Hotaru's perspectives on the rural setting is put on the back-burner for some school prank shenanigans.

Komari discovers she has some candy in her bag, which sets off our episodic conflict. Who gets the candy? The adult woman who is keeping up on the latest trends? The little friend who doodled all over her forehead when she was asleep? The younger sister who let her have some of her pudding yesterday? Or the new student who wants to receive her very first gift from Koma-chan? The fifth-grader's tears win the day.

The episode mostly focuses on Hotaru and Komari. Hotaru is quite enamored with the adorable little Koma-chan, and Komari is desperate to be seen as a grown-up. When Komari is passing by Hotaru's place and invites her out for their first date, due to a mistaken identity Komari thinks Hotaru is a strange adult who is kidnapping her, luring her to the candy shop and buying her candy. Komari, in a classic groomed-kid scenario, goes along with it to try and seem more mature.
When they come to the tunnel, Komari is clearly scared, and yet Hotaru confidently enters it as soon as she finds out it's just a small one used by the locals. Hotaru may be younger, but she's more open to these new experiences and just happy to be with Komari and visit a candy shop for the first time. Likewise, Hotaru orders shaved ice flavored with bitter green tea and red beans, wanting to impress Komari, but enjoys the experience more than she normally would because she's with Komari. They end up picking flowers and then walking home. Hotaru expresses that she was nervous about leaving Tokyo, but now that she's here, she finds it nice and peaceful. Hotaru was able to open up to Komari, but the inevitable confrontation with Renge has yet to happen.

Episode 3:
We open with Komari and Natsumi making rice balls for the class field trip. Natsumi decides to put spicy mustard in one of them to be a surprise for somebody alter. The field trip is that they're going to plant rice at Renge's family farm, in order to learn the value of rice and have fun planting seeds. Renge seems unhappy with this at first, but then seems to get more into it, learning about her family's knowledge of such things. Komari and Natsumi get stuck in the mud. Hotaru is really excited about eating Komari's rice balls later, and works hard at the task of planing rice. Hard labor in the fields is no problem for this city girl. Ultimately Natsumi gets her own spicy mustard rice ball.

The rest of the episode focuses a lot on Komari and Natsumi. Komari ends up getting scared over some horror film and crawls into her imouto's bed for comfort. It isn't very comforting. When Natsumi does finally try to reassure Komari, after torturing her with additional scares, she ends up giving herself an existential dread, and worries about what will happen when they die.
We find out about their tendency to run away together when their mom is being mean (mostly to Natsumi, because Natsumi is always getting in trouble), and how the two sisters are close even if they tease each other. Their mom also does worry about them when they're gone, and sends their brother out to look for them. Ultimately Natsumi realizes with surprise that it's Komari who takes care of her. A cute scene of Natsumi crawling into her onee-chan's bed at the end to close things out.
Not really enough Renge or Hotaru this episode, but we were due for a story of just the two Koshigaya sisters and their family dynamic.

Episode 4:
Renge narrates the start of this episode as we see it is the last day of the first term, before summer break begins. The school kids keep watermelons during the spring term, as part of the closing ceremony they eat the watermelons. Renge, always knowledgeable about locally grown food, explains the value of putting salt on watermelon. She catches a crab in the stream and decides to name him Salt. Her and Natsumi were actually sent to get the watermelons they left cooling in the stream, making use of the water still cold from up in the mountains. They got a bit distracted with catching Salt.
Hotaru asks the teacher why it's a tradition to eat watermelon on the last day of the spring term. She's curious, that's all. She wants to fully understand her new life, and be let in on all the traditions here, accepting, open, not looking down on such things.

Report cards for the first term of the year are passed out, and we see that Renge is a very good student with perfect grades in every subject. Natsumi... not so much. Kazuho has salt for them to add to their watermelon if they want it. Natsumi tries it, apparently for the first time, and then says it's too much for her. Renge asks her: "Kind of like life?" That cuts deep, and Natsumi thinks about how much trouble she'll be in with her mom.
While pondering such an unpleasant confrontation, Renge's crab Salt is noticed by Kazuho and Renge is asked about it. Again showing quite a bit of maturity for her age, when told that crabs are hard to keep during the summer, because of the heat, she returns Salt to the stream and declares she will catch another one in fall when it will be healthier for the crab.
Upon leaving the school for the last time before summer break, Renge turns back to the schoolhouse and salutes it in appreciation. This last term has been a significant portion of her life so far, and her enthusiasm as a first grader has not been dampened by the experience.

The return of Hikage from her high school in Tokyo brings the central conflict back into the fore. Tokyo has tall buildings. Taller than out here in the sticks. Hikage also rode on one of those long things, a Shinkansen. At first Renge gets caught up in the thought of it and wants to play make-believe with the concept. Then upon the entrance of the other girls, it's revealed that Hotaru has flown on an airplane before. But given enough time, the contrast between what Renge has heard about from others who've been to the city and her own life experience will sink in.

Bored during summer break, Renge goes out to wander. We hear the music from the first sequence of the first episode again. No longer going to school with her backpack and playing an instrument, we get only a non-diegetic version. She follows a path, looking around without any particular purpose, then jumps down off a small hill and picks a berry to eat as she wanders by. She stops and picks up a foxtail from the side of the path and plays with it, singing a little song to herself alone. Then she sees another girl her size, standing on a bridge. She doesn't know who that is. Curious, but cautious, she gets closer, and stops nearby to look at her.

Honoka is friendly after all, a girl staying with her grandparents for the summer. Renge introduces herself and wants to show Honoka something. Like with Hotaru, it's Renge driving the story along, bringing the other girl to new experiences. Honoka is just a younger, smaller version of Hotaru really, but perhaps more nervous about going off with a stranger to a mystery location some unknown distance away through the rural landscape, with minimal explanation from Renge. This is Renge's home turf. She knows everything about everything around here, and doesn't see her home village as anything that might be confusing, strange, or scary to an outsider. But Honoka like Hotaru proves to be a good enough sport to follow along. Trusting Renge is worth it, and Honoka has a new experience. Renge experiences something new too.

Episode 5:
Another Hotaru narration as we see her own experience of this summer vacation. She's talking about the loud bugs and heat, but there's no sign of resentment in her voice. She even talks about not needing air conditioning because of the breeze. Hotaru isn't upset about any of this. They're doing radio exercises and Renge is doing her very own dance instead. The Koshigaya mom gives Renge credit on her points card anyway. Because Kazuho is still sleeping, Renge and Hotaru are invited over for breakfast in the Koshigaya home, Hotaru's first visit. And they're going to the beach later.
Before breakfast, they need to go shopping for ingredients. Hotaru doesn't mind going with her beloved Koma-chan, but she's unaware that there's honor system farm stands in the village, as her family normally does grocery shopping in the nearest city. They're basically just convenience stores, Komari says. They share the load of carrying some 100-yen bag of tomatoes and basically get to hold hands. Komari thinks it's weird but Hotaru loves every minute of it.

Renge gives Hotaru a lot of rice because of how big she is, wanting Hotaru to eat lots and grow bigger. Hotaru has never eaten breakfast at a friend's place before, so she seems unsure of what she should do as a guest, apologizing for not helping Koshigaya mom in the kitchen. Hotaru expresses a lot of happiness as she lists off the new experiences she's had today. Then she discovers that the tomatoes she helped buy were included in the miso. She's quite alarmed by this, and for once she doesn't like a new experience in this rural village. Too sour.

On the way back from the beach, they have to take a lot of transfers at rural train stations. At the last station before they get their train to go home, Hotaru notices there are oranges scattered around the tracks. There's an orange grove just beyond the fence. It's the first time Hotaru has seen an orange grove and she's quite amazed as usual by a new experience. For Renge this is ordinary, so she just gets hungry. They decide to visit a small restaurant on the station platform. It's Hotaru's first time eating in a restaurant like this, too. It's a standing restaurant but they offer seats for little children. Only Renge gets one and Natsumi picks her up to put her on it. There is the suggestion that Komari might need one too, and one was being offered to her, which naturally upsets Komari after her recent kidnapping experience.
While nobody else is looking, Natsumi accidentally pours way too much hot pepper in her soup. She hides it and switches out her bowl for Komari's. After Komari is destroyed by the pepper, Natsumi turns and sees Renge staring at her, which makes Natsumi think she was seen doing it, feels guilty, and thus offers to switch back. Renge continues to stare in her direction as Natsumi consumes the too-spicy soup.
But Renge was just looking at a fly buzzing around the ceiling light.

Episode 6:
We start with some family drama over Natsumi's poor grades at the Koshigaya house, and learn a bit more about how irresponsible Natsumi is. Komari tries to counsel her imouto to be better. As they're walking outside, they run into Renge, who wants to know where they're going to play today.
Meanwhile, Hotaru's obsession with Komari has metastasized in the form of dozens of Koma-plushies. She's worried about what the others will think if they see any of them. Predictably, the other three girls show up at just that very moment, and she freaks out and tries to hide them before they visit with her.

After they all make plushies, including one of Renge which is obviously the best one, they play house for a while. The girls leave and Hotaru sees them out. Renge spots a dragonfly. The summer break is nearly over so they need to finish up their last bit of summer homework. But before the summer ends, Natsumi wants to do a test of courage at the shrine at night. After a five-way game of rock-paper-scissors, in which there are four paper and one scissors, Komari gets to be the boogeyman. Natsumi prepared a sheet for the boogeyman to wear but instead of cutting holes for eyes she drew them on with a marker, so Komari can't see. While she's trying to figure out what to do, the other kids begin to come up to the shrine to leave a coin as proof of their courage in the test. Things get scary.

Episode 7:
The school begins a new term and Natsumi is late, but not as late as Kazuho. Why is Kazuho so sleepy all the time anyway? The OP starts and I'm so happy to hear it again as I start my second day of rewatching. Since their teacher is late, the students find things to do in the meantime. Hotaru starts playing cat's cradle. Hotaru makes a cat, her own original design with the yarn. Renge and Natsumi want to play too. Renge makes outer space. Her profound wisdom about the nature of the fabric of spacetime impresses Natsumi so much she decides to go read manga instead of playing cat's cradle.

The contrast is quite apparent between our main protagonist who drives the story forward, Renge, and our POV character, Hotaru. Renge is the grizzled veteran, she's seen it all before in this setting. She knows what to do. Hotaru is new to all this and while she's eager to learn and enjoy her new life, when things don't go well, she tends to have a strong negative reaction. We saw this with the tomato in her miso. Hotaru's mind goes back to the familiar, rejecting the present circumstance: she cries out for her mother's cooking.

Episode 8:
We open with autumn leaves. Autumn, a time when mature women take a deep breath and let sentimentality wash over them. Komari's thoughts are interrupted by noise behind her as the other students discuss the items of food they've gathered from the schoolhouse garden or fished from the nearby stream. Komari wants to impress the others with her mature womanly skills in the kitchen, although she seems to need quite a bit of help from Hotaru. It wasn't enough...
We meet Konomi, next door neighbor to the Kohigaya family, while Hotaru is hanging out with Komari in her room. Komari has recently bought a CD player, already out-of-date with the latest technology. Seems like that would make her seem more mature, actually. After all, Hotaru's dad listens to CDs, even vinyls. The three girls start talking about music, quickly leaving Komari feeling left out as the high schooler Konomi and city girl Hotaru are more familiar with western music and classical music. Komari changes the topic to fashion. That doesn't go well either. Nor does talk of love, but that at least puts Hotaru in an awkward position of not wanting to admit her feelings for Komari. Komari still throws a temper tantrum, calming down only when Hotaru is forced to say that she's not sure if she's actually in love with anyone.
Then it turns out Hotaru likes her coffee black, like herhair.

Thinking they're all sketching landscapes, Komari is surprised to discover that Renge is actually using her as a model. Renge insists that she strike up a cute pose, which Komari attempts, prompting Hotaru to want to draw Komari as well.
Renge seems to be doing some kind of abstract artwork of Komari, which we sadly don't get to see, as Komari asks Renge to draw her normally. And Renge is apparently a very talented artist. The others want her to enter her sketch into a contest, but talk of contests just makes Renge hungry. Since her house is nearby, Hotaru says she'll go make some sandwiches and bring them back. Rather than continuing to sketch, Renge pulls out some toy gliders to play with.
Hotaru returns later than expected, and finds the two other girls asleep against at tree. Rather than wake them, she decides to make a sketch of the two of them.
Back at the Koshigaya house, Komari and Natsumi are making dried persimmons, after their uncle sent them some fruit. As usual, Komari is the more responsible of the two, as Natsumi wants to goof off and not do the task given to them. Turns out their brother was helping too, but completed his share of the work and is now playing his electric guitar. Then Konomi arrives to hang out. Unfortunately for Komari, she enters just as Komari is starting to goof off, and gets teased for her immaturity.
After the work is done, Komari gets sentimental about autumn.

Renge calls her sister in Tokyo to invite her, and starts to get some stupid boring story about haircuts or something and Renge doesn't care and tells her to shut up and listen. Hikage at first refuses the invitation because it costs money to travel. Renge calls her stupid and a party-pooper. Konomi takes over the phone call and doesn't take no for an answer. I love how despite being the youngest and most immature character besides Renge, the most like an older sister for her. The way they share a brain cell is by far the cutest and most wholesome part of the story for me. Seeing her be so dedicated to always being Renge's playmate was absolutely sugar-inducing. It made feel a little taste of being an older sibling must be like. I wish I had a little sister. I'm the youngest with an older brother, but it would've been nice to be the big sibling.

Episode 10:
It's already the end of another term of the school year, and Renge is narrating about winter break beginning. We touch base with all of our characters. Renge and Kazuho take care of the bunnies. Hikage is home from her school and offering her sister some year-end soba, but they're both too sleepy to stay up and eat it. Somehow Renge ends up in her bed after she drifts off to sleep at the table.
It's 3:06 AM, and Renge wakes to the sound of voices talking about going to see the first sunrise of the new year. She wants to join them. Rather than going to either one of her older sisters, she goes to Dagashiya, the unrelated older girl she looks up to as a parent, and negotiates with her to let her come. Discussing the situation, Kazuho promptly takes one of the mattresses and falls asleep. Hotaru, sensing an opportunity, asks Komari to share a mattress with her. They soon decide that it's best for a small person to share a mattress with a big person. Renge will sleep with her big sister, and Komari will sleep with one of the other taller girls. This pits Natsumi and Hotaru against each other as neither wants the sleeping bag by themselves. As the older more assertive girl, Natsumi tries to rig the game they'll play to determine who gets to sleep with Komari in the second mattress, and Hotaru submissively goes along with it. Hotaru proves particularly strong and/or motivated however and quickly wins at arm wrestling. Then she foolishly lets her victory go to waste so as to be nice to the older girl. Things get a bit off track thanks to Natsumi, but Renge gets designated the assistant impersonation instructor, and impersonates a pyramid. Hotaru tries to impersonate Renge. Natsumi impersonates Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack Dawson. Things are awkward, and at a deadlock. They decide to stick Kazuho into the sleeping bag instead, the wrong way. Hotaru goes outside to discover the snow clouds have moved on and it's now a starry night. She runs out into the snow. She's especially happy because the rural sky at night is so much more beautiful than the light-polluted Tokyo. Natsumi suspects she is trying to signal to aliens, and scares Komari with the danger of aliens coming to mutilate them. When Hotaru runs back inside, Komari thinks she's being mind-controlled by the aliens.
Meanwhile Renge wakes up in her mattress alone, the other mattress also empty. She goes out into the hall to look for them, and seeing Hotaru running towards her she thinks it's a festival. Episode 12:
Hotaru narrates that it's been almost a year since she moved to the sticks. It's time for spring break now. The hole in the floor in the hallway has been somewhat repaired from the time when Suguru walked too close to the leak buckets. The year seems to have flown by. The turtles sunbathing at the pond remind me of K-On. Hotaru is watching the bunnies while waiting for Komari to meet her for their picnic date.
The cherry blossoms are just starting to bloom above the picnic, and we're reminded for the first episode's joyful climax. The two girls agreed to make bento for each other and then swap. Komari confesses that she messed up. Hotaru tells her it's alright, but Komari's bento is truly awful. Komari starts to cry but Hotaru tries to cheer her up and says she'll eat it anyway.
Somehow Hotaru survived.
Hotaru gets her final new experience of season 1, repairing the roads around the village after winter. There's no big department of public works to do that, the people here take care of it themselves. She goes out with her family to start, following them with a big smile on her face. We are treated to the beautiful greenery around her and soft music. This is her home now.
After a long sequence showing the village again, she meets up with Kazuho and is informed she can just go play with the other kids while the adults do the work. Like the first episode, Renge greets Hotaru with a nyanpasu. Instead of confusion, Hotaru now greets her back in the same way. She's not surprised to be already "Hotarun". She's just one of the gang. These are her friends.

They've decided to go pick edible plants. It's Hotaru's first time, and she doesn't know what plants are edible. They come across a sign indicating that it's private property and Hotaru is worried about trespassing, but she's told it's okay. This is Renge's family's mountain. Hotaru is surprised by this. Komari tells her that it's not unusual. Renge asks if Hotaru's family owned a mountain back in Tokyo.
And so we're back to the central conflict of the story. Renge realizes that where they live is actually very different from Tokyo. Hotaru doesn't have much chance to react before, like in episode 1, Natsumi interrupts.

I'm actually pretty new to Non Non Biyori. I think my first watch may be less than a year ago? Not sure exactly. It was on my watch list for much longer than that, but I finally got around to it because of a thread here featuring Renge as the first post. I don't remember if it was even a Non Non Biyori thread or just something more generalized. But people seemed to like her a lot and I remembered I wanted to watch this series, so I did. Quickly became one of my all-time favorite anime, and Renge is indeed a great character.
Rewatching it these past couple days, I've come to better appreciate her role in the story. She's not just some weird kid in the village, she's *the* driving force behind most of what happens in the first season. She draws Hotaru into the group, she's either instigating or facilitating most of the events of the story, and her intense connection to this village in particular and the activities within it are essential to bringing the audience into this particular rural setting. It's Renge really who makes it not be a more generic CGDCT school anime. The other characters could be dropped in almost anywhere else, but Renge is connected to this land. She's its representative. And like I've been noting, Renge's at the core of the season's conflict. It's her conflict, really. Hotaru just serves as her foil (as well as Komari's). And then it nicely comes together again in an iyashikei way when Hotaru accepts the village, and by extension Renge, in full. Well, except maybe those tomatoes in the miso.
Renge is definitely not a character I'll forget.

Yep its my personal favorite cute girls show and renge is the main reason for it. Its just a refreshing show because they're just being kids and having fun, real fun, not the fun most of the shows in genre have which is just girls exchanging pleasantries, yuri teasing, getting jealous of "friendships", mediocre humor(not bad just mediocre) and overall being boring but you put up with it because they're pretty.

Anons are saying Gochiusa, but it's sort of just a boring moeslop show, not for everyone. Colors is a fun little show if you like its silly sense of humor. Hidamari Sketch is great.
Here's my recs:
Azumanga (masterpiece)
Flying Witch (masterpiece)
Ichigo Mashimaro (lolicon masterpiece)
Mushishi (masterpiece; heavy drama elements on top of the iyashikei and SoL)
Usagi Drop (great show)
Working!! (great show, very entertaining)
Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san (lesser show but a delight; very sweet and fluffy)
Amaama to Inazuma (lesser show, kind of boring but still very nice)
>>
>>
>>285802953
Recs are frowned upon on /a/ (and I could've sworn they were against the rules) but while we're at it:
>iyashikei with a bit of comedy
Aria
Hibimeshi
Barakamon (has some seishun vibes)
K-On!! (S2)
>hobby SoL
Yuru Camp (can also count as iyashikei)
Houkago Teibou Nisshi
>comedy SoL (or moe SoL)
Yuru Yuri
K-On! (S1)
Minami-ke (the first season at least)
Tanaka-kun (same director and music composer as NNB, but has more focus on the boys)
>peak comedy
Hinamatsuri
>that weird mix between iyashikei, 4-koma comedy and fanservice
Gochiusa (early Gochiusa has this uncomfortable fanservice that you need to overcome in order to like the show; avoid the threads though if you want to stay sane)
>>
>>285802953
K-On is excellent. Music theme.
Mitsuboshi Colors for very realistic young kids just coming up with games like NNB.
Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu, middle school friendship.
Azumanga Daioh is another classic, high school life.
If you want cute activity-based stuff, not entirely slice-of-life, there's Yuru Camp which has similar iyashikei feels to NNB. Houkago Teibo Nisshi is also fun for fishing/cooking emphasis.
Not exclusively CGDCT, and leaning more into comedy, there's Nichijou and CITY THE ANIMATION, but does have cute girls and both are slices of somewhat exaggerated life.
For darker slice-of-life settings there's Girls' Last Tour and Gakkou Gurashi.
And more fantastical, there's Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid and Squid Girl.

Two recs by other anons I want to emphasize are Hibimeshi which had Atto working on it and Teibou which was also absolutely delightful. I personally liked the latter's unique flair of catch and cook being the CT of the CGDCT and the grils are of course quite loveable. There are other recs by anons that I've seen and are good but for now I wanted to bring focus to those two

She's just a smart kid. Maybe gifted. She's good at everything. She has to be for the story to include her. If she was just a regular 1st grader she'd be unable to contribute anything. But as a genius 1st grader she can represent the wisdom of the land, while still having the naivete of a little kid. She's the perfect representative of a positive portrayal of rural life.

Renchon is the spirit of the Inaka embodied. A little flower blooming in spring, the genius of the grassy fields. Natsumi is natsu, sunny summer, burnt reddish hair, playful in turmoil and filled with vital energy. Komari is elegant and mature (or seeks to be) like the somber days of autumn. I don’t have a good one for Hotaru, but winter is all that's left.

A couple that are less often mentioned but are great SoL are

Recs are not "frowned" upon
Recs are against the rules to specifically prevent newfaggots and tourists from constantly making rec threads and shitting up the catalog with their buffoonery asking the same fucking question every time
There is literally nothing wrong with being in an already established thread focused on a specific anime and asking for rec on similar things to it. That is just what normal discussion is. Virtually all of my backlog is comprised of anime I've been recommended by anons in threads like these

Winter is calm and softspoken. Hotarun's nature is much like mounds of freshly fallen snow on rugged hillside
This concept of the four main biyoris representing the four seasons is something I personally have thought myself after my first watch, but I was not able to put it in as eloquent words as you. In this collage I instinctively placed each of them as the representative of that season before even pondering this thought. It is innately understood. >>285767994
