That's my main point of frustration. Danmachi is one of those series that comes off as absurdly shallow harem slop in the first arc but as you get further in you realize the story structure and the depth of the world building.
The only big drawback is that it's deliberately written to have a clueless adventurer protag because that's the type of person he has to be for lore reasons. So it takes forever to give you exposition on what's going on with the deep lore and even then it's only the minimal amount because the protag has to be kept largely clueless. It creates this dynamic where our clueless adventurer is innocently able to end up in situations way out of his league and then persevere without seeming malicious or stupid or anything, so you get these big climactic scenes at the end of every arc.
Sword Oratoria (see pic) is much better at the lore exposition, imo. It runs parallel to Danmachi and dives right into the lore and world building. The vibes aren't as good here though largely because this is a highly prepared team who is actively investigating things and trying to figure out what's going on.
