I can't watch romance anime, they just make me feel so sad and drown me in indescribable emptiness because I never had that kind of love, and at 30, I'm not sure I ever will.
Do you feel the same?

I didn't like pure romance when I was 13, and I don't like it at 23. Anime needs some other bullshit in the middle to be watchable. Highschool romance in particular doesnt feel aimed at anything other than 13-15yos.

Most of the time they are just really boring
But once in a while there are some well-done fun shows with characters that I like

Yes, but then I watch them anyway just to feel anything.

romcoms are one of my favorite genres of anime. i like to live vicariously through the characters and i enjoy romance in general, i find it endearing and sometimes motivating. but i'm not a virgin and i've experienced romance. when i'm in a relationship i don't watch as much anime, when i'm single (now) i watch a lot more anime, to fill the void of being single. hopefully the next girl i meet will be into anime just as much as i am. then i can have the best of both.

I'm the same as you but I'm a huge sucker for romcoms or just romantic implications between characters in whatever genre. I feel that it doesn't really make me sad because I have no concept of what it's like. I can't even imagine it happening irl anymore, the idea feels like a different world to me.

I'm 110% heterosexual.

I had to get a background check recently and was delighted to see my whiteness reflected back with a rubber stamped NO RECORD on said form.

16-18yos don't exist or what?

some premises are just lame

They're actually dangerous for you, because they make you idealize women because they're usually written by men writing their ideal woman.
Women are awful human beings with a shitload of flaws, romcoms and pure romance tend to skip this because otherwise you wouldn't sell past the 10th chapter.

Is this made by a woman? It has to be. Too much projection of the perfect man from a sympathetic MC.

Are there any actually good romance anime/manga where they're adults with working libidos? I don't mean hentai but I'm so sick of "kyaaaa his hand is near mine"
Nagatoro was frustrating to read because the guy never took any opportunities
>>
>>285789836
yes it does. if girls dont like you they just dont talk to you at all. if they pay you as much attention as taiga did ryuji then you're already in. takagi was never even mean, it was pretty obvious that everything she was doing was flirtatious.

I think he's talking about teenage high school romance, which is a chimera for 60% of boys btw
Most girls lose their virginity at 14 while the boys at 18, and this being an average means it counts those coming from broken homes, ghettos and such where everyone is more promiscuous
A 1st year student is statistically unlikely to get sex in High School, ESPECIALLY with the cute popular girl who is already being fucked by a drug dealer or a sports guy from College
So yeah you can get some sloppy seconds in College and onwards, but the ideal romantic teenage love is reserved for a tiny minority.

School romance makes me wistful, not about my lost youth or lost loves, but about the characters talking to the people around them when they get bored instead of just scrolling social media.
Even recent series like Nagatoro and Kanokari are written by authors who went to high school 20+ years ago, in a world that doesn't exist anymore. Their art drawn from precious memories is all we have left of it.

I don't feel the same because I've experienced it a couple times, but I do wonder if I'd be better off being in your position sometimes.
Loving and losing is unironically permanently damaging to the mind and physically painful

>A 1st year student is statistically unlikely to get sex in High School
And in the far remote case this 1st year student really manages to get the miracle, his parents quickly will cockblock him impeding having alone private time with his girlfriend precisely because they doesn´t want being grandpas so early

Saenai Boku ga Kimi ga Heya, the series starts with precisely the MC and the FMC fucking. But yes, it´s always the FMC who takes the lead and starts the sex scenes

Toumei Otoko to Ningen Onna is literally airing this season. Some of you people don't even do the bare minimum of searching.

This is just how I feel about romance stories in general desu. Sometimes it can work if it’s a statement about romance in general and how retarded it can be (Romeo and Juliet) or theres an added layer to it (mind games in Kaguya) but other than that that it’s a boring as fuck motivation for any character to have without any additional context.

>Anime needs some other bullshit in the middle to be watchable
that's why fujos eventually devolved into just watching men rape each other. The vanilla romance got boring quick and they had to find ways to make it more interesting

Is this bait? All 3 of the anime in the OP were adaptations of works written by women

It's never too late. When I hit 30 and became a wizard I just stopped giving a fuck and began talking to girls, starting with my coworker. We became friends and with that confidence I went to a con and spoke with girls there. I became discord friends with a few of them and fast forward half a year and now I have lots of friends and one potential romantic interest that I play vidya daily with.

i'm not japanese and 3d women aren't anime girl so i don't feel sad or missing opportunities or anything like that, it's just pure fantasy world for me, but i like seeing lovey dovey couples in an old man pov (late 30 virgin btw, never interest irl romance or sex)
>>
>>285805211
I was gonna reply with
>discord friends
>potential romantic interest
(which I guess still I did), but then I reread that it's only been half a year. Good progress, and I genuinely hope it works out for you anon.
And even if it doesn't, keep at it and don't end up a jaded assholelike me, apparently. sorry.

I got my first gf at 30 because I wasted all the time prior developing better taste than anyone else on this website and met a japanese girl who was amazed at all the old mangaka I knew that no other westerners do (she grew up in the scene and had met some of them personally, so the amazement was mutual).

eh love isnt easy and its not always worth it. theres someone you have to consider at all times, theres someone who will eventually be in your space, they'll hurt you and you'll hurt them, bitterness and resentment might build up over certain things etc
