Happy to see a thread up as I finally got around to watching 傷物語 after reading the LN. After Bake I thought I had some form of expectation going into it but it still amazed me, with the same disappointments. Considering Kizu is a much more, for lack of a better word, streamlined movie, I was expecting less stuff to be cut than what was actually cut. As much as I wish every Hachikuji and Kanbaru line was present in Bake I can understand them being removed but a lot of stuff really hurt in Kizu. But beyond that it's like the dream adaptation in that it exists as it's own unique piece of art and I loved all 3 (really just 1) movies. The presentation and direction is to be expected from Shaft but it really just is some of the best in the industry, the visuals are just jawdropping. I did still prefer the book as it gives more time to the characters and I really love the story of Kizu, but I'm extremely happy with the movies.. Just like with Bake I'm ashamed it took me so long but I'm happy I got to read and watch it entirely in Nippongo. Thanks for reading my blog.

Kizumonogatari might just be the best of Japanese animation. With Monogatari in general, a lot can't compare with how consistently high quality, willing to do anything, and comfortable it is. With Kizu itself it even tells a story complete enough on its own that someone could just pick it up and feel satisfied without knowing the full intricacies of all the characters or what happens after. Monogatari is the result of a studio finding the story perfect for it.

I just finished rewatching Nise today and I really enjoyed it - about as much as any other season. I'm wondering why it never gets the same love the other seasons get? The only thing that males sense to me is the fact that not a lot actually happens, even by monogatari standards. Karen Bee mostly consists of Araragi catching up with every character, and Tsukihi Phoenix has very little to actually do with Tsukihi.

Nise establishes a lot and has a lot of recurrent themes. It is also a fun story where Araragi reconnects with his sisters and becomes comfortable being a vampire. Everything that happens to him afterwards is more or less bullshit that doesn't help him. Nise also has the glorious Shinobu naked episode. One so good SHAFT considers it one of her key moments and featured a lot of footage from it in a PV released alongside Off and Monster Season. A true marvel of animation and contender for best scene ever animated. Both intro songs are very good too. The outro is absolutely beautiful with the visuals and great musicwise (one of the best songs in the series). Kaiki is also a great character who has nice moments here. As is Yotsugi who acts absolutely spot on. The visual gags in it are very good, better than nearly everything up until more recently with Zoku and O&M where they are trying to return to form. The whole thing is instantly comfortable to watch even on your first view. You also feel very engaged and want to see what happens next more than ever. If I were to take a guess, the only reason this isn't cherished in every discussion both Monogatari and anime in general is because every discussion is dominated by tasteless retards. It is like they are allergic to anything good.

Nise is top tier as far as it being an enjoyable arc is concerned. I guess people don't pay much attention to it because it's a bit if a pivot for how the series and its themes will evolve from there onwards. It can feel pointless in some ways but to me that was the point. Still one of the prettiest most animated and lewdest part of the series, cool summer tomfoolery.

Each arc koyomi interacts with cute girls who want to fuck him and because hes in a monogamous relationship the story doesnt need to resolve some romance situation and it focuses on fun playing around instead.

They misinterpret it as redditors tend to. You have to understand, for these people to watch something like this all the "icky" moments have to be recontextualized as mockery. The studio filled with lolicons and other perverts have to be adapting something mocking them and the creator must be okay with them focusing on the sexy stuff (okay enough to deliberately write nude scenes just for adaptation). The truth is that there isn't anything post modernist about Monogatari, that is a midwit interpretation. It is modernist, a celebration of modern day and uses ancient myths to explore this from a unique angle. The series mocks parody and post modernism many times, as does it other mental diseases that try to latch on to modern day. The fanservice is the main thrust of the whole thing, just pure fun to spite "le serious" types. It also helps propel the plot and explain many things because another recurring thing Monogatari does is use romance and sex to explore relationships. Many of the relationships are turned into something at least borderline sexual which works well with Araragi being a pervert. Through this though, you still have sweet relationship developments and he still remains faithful to two women. An example being how he finally reconnects with his sister through an incestuous game. Monogatari shows how the idea that fanservice is counter to plot or just an additive, filter, whatever is nonsense. It drives midwits insane because of this.

80 to 90% of monogatari is dialogue sometimes so fucking intricate barely anyone who hasnt read half of Nisio's catalogue alongside having litterature student japanese knowledge can parse what the fuck does it even mean actually.
Hana is especially guilty on this, there is a 30 minutes interrupted monologue in the span of 2 episodes.
People here will just post the girls and shitpost because its the easiest part to enjoy and talk about.
