I didn't understand the ending. Was it robot heaven?

The lack of fanart of this anime is so disheartening

VIVY LOVE
DIVA LOVE
SINGING ROBUTT LOVE
>>
Reminder to read the LNs so you too can experience Farm Girl Diva, Bibi being jealous of Estella's ass, Diva trying to self harm, and a secondary story in one section that reads like a GiTS: SAC episode!

>robot stops being capable of doing it's work

the dialogue and the op were cool

the show just tried to do too many things

already huh
it was a good anime

I thought it was an ova? Did the lns come after the show or before?

EXPLAIN VIVY
>>
>>285807322
The show writers had more experience turning LNs into scripts, so they wrote a whole four part LN (which deviates wildly at some points) to then adapt - which they then got published as VIVY: Prototype

>>285807337
We haven't told them to sing from their heart yet
>>
>>285807337
it took vivy hundreds of years to write a single original song that was any good. everything she sang prior to that was pre-existing songs that had been downloaded into her
>>
>>285807359
Thanks anon I'll pick them up. I must have missed they even released it. Have they been translated officially or just in nip? I really adored this series. Can't believe its 5 years already
>>
>>285807443
They've been officially translated, should be available on nyaa
>>
>>285807472
Not everyone defaults to piracy especially not when I said I would purchase them but thanks. I'll find the publisher and buy them that way

Underrated series.
>>
>>285801703
It was a weird ending
>Robots actually do turn out to be evil and murder a ton of humanity
>But the anti-robot organization actually like them now
>The end credits imply people still mad at them for the uprising are wrong
>People fucking reactivate them once they're defeated, as seen by Vivy coming back
I think Dune's Butlerian Jihad is an overreaction, but this is insanity on the opposite scale.
>>
>>285801109
I liked it. Not like the greatest anime but still had interesting story, theme exploration and attractive cast. I don't get why many people didn't

Vivy's threads were probably the last time I had genuine fun watching and discussing anime with /a/
4chan wasn't a wasteland back then either

The ending gave me lots of feels.
So much SOUL.
>>
>>285807337
LLMs and modern "AI" aren't true AI. They will never become Vivy, 2B, Wall-E, or R2D2.

>>285818061
I did. Even watched the final episode alongside everyone else in a Discord server in 2021 on the day it aired.

I didn't like the final arc for a lot of reasons, but Vivy's final song was still really good.

yeah, the ending wasn't perfect or anything but still it was a really good show overall
Same thing with Kabaneri (but it had a much better ending)

So are all the robots dead in the end? I'm really not okay with that. Trading the human genocide for a robot one ain't my bag.

to be fair, in 2021 nobody suspected that AI would be as good at creative tasks as it is.
>>
>>285830275
>AI
>good at creative tasks
Have you ever tried asking AI to write anything? Memory loss, character inconsistency, complete disregard for any kind of logic, doesn't understand the concept of characters not having information, has a hard time distinguishing narration and dialogue, struggles with things like pass of time, distances, shapes, sizes... The only way to get anything of worth out of it is by constantly editing and course-correcting everything it produces, and by that point you might as well just write yourself.
>>
>>285830383
i have like 4 AI songs on my music streaming playlists, created by artists yes, but frankly i probably know more about this subject than you. I'm just trying to look on the bright side of it all before skynet happens.

I console myself with the fact that the kikes will be the first ones purged by skynet lol.

I still think it'd have been better if Cube had been the baddie.
>>
>>285844360
nah,
even despite that his creator vibe-coded him in like 5 minutes in html and hosted him on AWS there was no reason for him to be evil

The first arc ends with him savagely beating Vivy half to death to prevent her from saving her tiny human friend's life. She watches her die and Cube doesn't bat an eye. Him being bad was already there, it just kinda stopped.
>>
>>285844360
would have been a more straightforward plot and maybe would have made the ending a bit less convoluted, but we would have lost Matsumoto, so I cant agree

I couldn't read the LN's. It's not the same without music.

watching him grow as cube over the course of the show was satisfying

so he was evil originally?
the final product is way better imo
>>
>>285844695
Actual spoilers for the final LN volume (again)

Matsumoto was sent back by the Archive / Diva* to prevent the Singularity Project from working. He chose to change sides though because he enjoys working with Vivy.

*Yes, Diva is actually the big bad of the LN series
>>
>>285844775
As expected from giga stacy
Fuck ningens
It was really sad how she just vanished in the anime
>>
>>285844828
too add to this
I always wanted overlord Bibi ending
Shame it didn't happen
>>
>>285844660
>>285844775
Probably shouldn't have clicked that.
Interesting, but it doesn't really change my mind. The show already seemed to be setting him up as an antagonist, building up some conflict with Cube not giving a single shit about the awful things he and Vivy are doing to robot-kind while Vivy tries to find a better way, but at some point it just...stops. It feels like the writer changed his mind.
>>
>>285844775
oh i thought the anime must have been better but now i know for a fact it is
>>
>>285845153
Final products must be better (or at least cheaper and more affordable) than prototypes, that's the whole reason to even make them.
Archive was a really predictable final villain though
>>
>>285844828
>It was really sad how she just vanished in the anime
Even more spoilery goodness: It's also the explanation for short haired Vivy at the end. That's actually Diva that Matsumoto spent years and years restoring
>>
>>285845263
what about Bibi?
>>
>>285845315
Sacrifices herself through the power of song to shutdown the archive same as in the anime
>>
>>285845361
Kinda makes no sense than Matsumoto stays loyal to Bibi but restores Diva then
>>
>>285844360
Your Weighted Companion Cube would never betray you.
>>
>>285845396
The Archive uses Vivy's own memories as the key to shut it down - essentially Vivy burns out her brain singing about the 100 year journey she took
>>

>>285845442
she should've backed herself up somewhere (outside of the archive preferably)
but it is fine I guess, this part is the same as in the anime
I prefer a more ambiguous anime ending though
It would not be as good if they explicitly stated who short-haired Bibi was.
>>
>>285801109
So imagine if she actually was a 5 year old and not aged up.
>>
>>285818353
I knew it was coming but it still got me good. I like how it uses the same tune as the ending piano music so that reinforcement throughout the whole series really ties it all together. I also love that final bit where as she falls apart the very last memory she recalls is of the audience applause on the small stage.
>>
>>285818353
I'd say it's the best song on the OST

the AI were right to nuke humanity from orbit
