The views are not irrelevant, they are obviously a factor in which series get axed and it's important for the web-only series (obviously). Volume sales are the most important but if Shueisha thinks series with big views but mediocre (not bad) sales drive people to their website it makes them more likely to read other series.
It doesn't seem like any of the new batch are actually flopping right now so it's too early to tell, it's not like Gonron where by chapter 3 you could smell the axe coming.
