The problem is tiktok dancing not dancing

If the difference was real you'd have an actual description of it rather than just blaming a random unconnected website.

here, I'll explain for OP since he assumes every middle aged anon here knows what a tiktok is. Anime has of course had dances for decades, that's not the problem. But recently there's been a trend of very bouncy dances that predominantly involve only the upper body (face and hands for the most part) in order to make it eye-catching but also very simple for an influencer to do easily in a costume and show off to their fans on tiktok using their smartphone on a desk. It has led to uninspired and kitsch imitations of dancing that take no real effort so that everyone can share them easily over social media, rather than something interesting and energetic like the Hare Hare Yukai which requires the full body and actual practice and skill to accomplish.
Here's just an example of a dance requiring a bare modicum of effort, as opposed to OP's proclaimed "tiktok dances" where you just flap your hands and make funny shapes with your mouth.

You'd probably have an aneurysm if your knowledge of anime from 25 years ago extended beyond "Naruto".

Haha yeah since when did anime have dances. It's not like they've existed in this form at least as long as idols have.

contrarian unc refuse to acknowledge unique characteristics of tiktok dance
>minimal lower body movement (so you can stay in the center of the frame on a vertical cell phone camera when doing it)
>upper body movement is limited to several exaggerated gestures that are easy to imitate without much practice, even if you have limited/no dancing skill
>dance itself is very short, measured in seconds instead of minutes
It's actually not hard to identify a dance specifically designed for people to imitate on tiktok, as opposed to a dance to show off how good the animators are at choreography because fluid dance animation's extremely hard.

tiktok is just a bunch of exagerated hand and face gestures

Yeah is pretty easy, if you dance on place or with a minor change of position and form that's a tiktok dance.
>b-but look at this little segment from 100 years ago
Yes that counts, is not really a good point, you could easily grab it and make it popular as a tiktok, happens all the time.

Dance OPs/EDs weren't much of a thing in the 90s and 2000s. I do believe tiktok is influencing producers into pushing these cringe dances and force them to go 'viral', but somehow none of these have captured the same cultural impact Haruhi's ending had back in 2006
>>
>>287440884
Brother, the leg movement in Hare Hare Yukai is intentionally ultra-simplistic, to the point it could be danced by middle aged women during menopause.
Literally just speed it up by 2x and you get your so-called average "TIktok dance".
The only thing that changed from back then is that the average anime viewer has ADHD now.

If you hate "Tiktok" dances in anime, you either
1) use Tiktok, which means you don't belong here.
or
2) are getting angry over something that should not have an effect on you, since you don't use Tiktok, so you should grow up mentally.

That's literally a fact, zoom. Before youtube anime dances didn't really go viral on the Internet and Lucky Star was the first viral anime dance on youtube
>inb4 b-b-but someone danced at some con somewhere
And yet dance choreography in anime wasn't made for viral videos because those dances weren't in viral videos, that's the key difference, dumbass
>>
>>287453659

It was made for otakus but non-otakus clogged in and the ED dance was the seal of the deal.
>>
>>287455803
Haruhi dance is not a tiktok dance. Tiktok dances have very kpop style choreographies, there's even one airing right now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwPrtCPwF-w
It even uses a Kpop group, and last season we had
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ava4r8ciLp8
Another kpop style dance with a kpop group singing the theme
Anime producers have been pushing shit like this for a few years now, they're forcing dances to make them go viral. Characters dancing in OPs and EDs wasn't nearly as common in the 2000s

On one hand, tiktok dances are annoying.
On the other, millions of young girls are being exposed to the embers of otaku culture, cosplaying, idolizing anime girls, imitating their mannerisms, and copying their fashion in their every day clothes.

It does effect me because people in other public spaces (like 4chan) talk about it. You have to live in a log cabin with no internet like Uncle Ted K to not see/hear people talking about it. And it being popular in real life bleeds into it being popular in anime.

The main difference is not the dance or footwork but the background.
Old anime dance have normal, non-flashy background.
Nowadays dance the background is seizure inducing like k-pop videos. It as if tries to brainwash you "viral this dance" "meme this dance".

what i meant by seasonals is watching only currently airing shows. most of you zoomers/gen alpha dont watch the classics so you would have no idea what we are talking about here
i always preferred using the full normalfaggot when emphasizing, has more of a punch you know? i use normie too i dont care
>>287461079
how do you not see that this is an actual idol dance that takes months of practice and endurance to accomplish?
you can almost make out the "portrait mode" the tiktok dances in modern anime if you squint, that is the problem + how little effort they require so even fat tiktok influencers can do it with little practice and endurance
please try watching more (old) anime

And their dance steps were more playful than sharp.
The reason tiktok dances exist is because tiktok exist and when a lot of anime shows from different genres throw dance routines out of nowhere on the OP or ED then we know is because they want them to be popular on tiktok.

I think the major weird part is that it's being thrown into basically everything regardless of genre or if it fits the tone or style of the series or if it feels like something the characters would do and oftentimes the animators neglect maintaining character acting during the dance animation. So they stand out as "we put this in to try and go viral."
It wasn't dancing but for instance the Fate Strange Fake ending animation being full of "vague happy celebratory shit" was really stupid when that has basically nothing to do with the actual content of the show.
