Wan 2.2 img2vid, using the 'SmoothMix' checkpoint available on civitai (version 1 of it, there's a version 2 which does have some improvements, but version 2 also seems to be more aggressive about changing the initial appearance of characters to an unacceptable degree).

4070...yeah, it would probably work, might be slower, looks like that has 12GB of ram, and VRAM tends to be the big big item for ai generation. But it can also work with regular ram if you've got a good amount of that, if you have 64+ GB I think you'd be able to make it work.

With the image generation, I've found the 4x upscalers as part of the workflow a lot of times are getting cleaner gens from the start with only an extra couple seconds. Then, it just makes sense to make them big and then resize them down. Less effort that way.

Hm, I basically never run at cfg > 1, it massively slows the process down and honestly barely seems to make a perceptible difference at all to prompt adherence. Mostly seems to come down to checkpoint, steps, and model shift. And appropriate choice of lora, of course, in getting what you want, even the merged checkpoints do not have good general-purpose knowledge of intimate subjects.
