I have next to no art background, but I have spent the last 4 hours trying to draw a scene that came to me in a dream before I forget it . After 4 hours, it's a smattering of doodles that look like they were drawn by a child or mental deficient, with a bunch of notes in the margins. Art is a lot harder than I gave it credit for, especially when you're stuck using KB&M and .paint.

I think I'm better off using it as a reference image if a drawfren ever feels like taking requests than trying to finish it myself, because it's very clear to me that I have no innate talent, and I think it might be a waste of time trying to learn how to draw with M&KB.

Was excited to read more Howlers, left off at chapter 33 last time I checked in.

Nithry digging more into the whole "oops I apparently live in a planet wide apartheid state" is good. Going through the logic in chapt 33 of justifying basically "unpersoning' people who don't follow social norms is good, feeds into that theme with the other Fyrix's stories, makes all the different parts of the story feel unified. Even Nithry being a a pompous paranoid ass is a product of the system it was brought up in.

Dark's species being some kind of cloned skinwalker collective is a very fun twist

This might be nitpicky BUT feels a bit too 'goofy sci fi serial' of an explanation than fits the tone of the rest of the story. I think you'd need to give a somewhat better explanation other than"radiation gave special powers" A good place to start justifying that could be a sensible evolutionary route/mechanism?

High radiation environment -> extensive DNA damage - > organisms would have to evolve efficient (and possibly less stringent?) DNA repair mechanisms-> very good at integrating foreign DNA without rejection->can be spliced together and modified easily. As with lots of traits evolution comes up with could just be a coincidental side effect of selective pressure for something else. Just an idea.

In chapt 35 the confused fyrix trying to do their social norms with our big humie is a good bit. He gonna get himself a pack for all that viraas?

As for Dark's species, I never actually considered the trope of radioactive mutation, it was simply that if you have a weak atmosphere and you're constantly being bombarded by radiation, your cells are probably going to be really good at replicating to compensate, and so if you're really good at repairing your DNA you probably won't age, and encountering "Weird DNA" wouldn't be that unusual to the point that their cells can recode them. I had essentially the same thought process as you, so I suppose I can add that to my list of things to clarify once I do my final pass.

I actually had an idea about a gang of humans meeting up with a gang of aliens that need to speak using translator devices with speakers.
