I think it only happens like 4 times, two during the Halloween sex scene, then when you're dancing (also Halloween), and I think in the library one time? There's also a main menu pic in the S03 version of the game that's her jumping on a bed when she's younger, and we still haven't seen the relevant scene yet, so it's probably something that'll keep happening in the next episodes.

But even so, the biggest problem with making a WEG is the time it takes to add content. Traditional WEGs that use a render for each scene, like comic book panels, will require about 5 or 6 hours of work for 5–10 minutes of "gameplay", and because progress is so slow, it's easy to see why finding motivation can sometimes be difficult.
However, it's possible to optimize these things. Take Treasure of Nadia, for example. In it, conversations are shown using generic portraits, and the developer only uses animations and renders at appropriate moments. Notice how that game had very quick updates compared to others.

I think that in 3D games, using portraits doesn't usually look good unless a lot of work goes into creating a unique style for the game. A 3D-rendered character depends on the environment in which it was rendered, because all the lighting is calculated realistically. A naked woman looks different on the beach or in the bathroom, during the day or at night, and so on. In 2D, these things are easier to handle. In 3D, it's also feasible, but it requires more planning and a special stylization for your game. It's not enough to just "paste" rendered character sprites in front of a background because the characters will look out of place, kind of like in special effects from very old movies. In Treasure of Nadia, things sort of work because the game itself is played from a top-down view, and the characters that appear are just UI elements.

Same problem if you're a DIK on Bella's route, but in the opposite direction. So yeah, if I had to pick one that feels the most canon, I'd say it's Jill, as a CHICK the entire time, it just works. Sage route also flows pretty well, if you act like a DIK all the time S01/S02, but make CHICK major choices 90% of the time so that you slowly become less of DIK over time, ending up with CHICK alignment (w/ Neutral status) in ep8. Quinn massive DIK route also flows quite well once you get past episode 4 and all the initial Josy/Maya drama is over. Those would be my top 3 guesses for canon route though, in that order.
