I want to be a filmmaker but I have no connections, no friends, and this dream of mine seems hopeless. I would be a pornstar instead but my dick isn't 12 feet long. I want to compromise and make blender porn instead and make scratch. I feel like it would be easier to do that and gain respect from other animators and network (make friends) that way. After making a name for myself, I can pivot into a more serious career and make some more money. Tell me /adv/ is this all far fetched?

it just so happens i am also trying to make a name for myself in the adult entertainment space
it has never been more saturated because there are a lot of people clawing for internet money right now, especially people trained in computer skills because a lot of them are getting laid off
after observing and operating in the current landscape of the indie porn creation industry for the last 6 months i would say it seems you have to make something exceptional OR be prepared to splash a lot of money before you try to get a team together

>success
Success is a moving goalpost, but that's another conversation.

I don't think anyone except exceptionally talented or lucky people, or nepo babies, starts off as a filmmaker.
I can think of a dozen jobs in the pipeline to filmmaker that would be in high demand though. Work those while doing your filmmaking on the side.
