My grandfather owned a large ranch in Mexico. When he left, he left me and my dad as the only two beneficiaries. Later on, after my baby brother was born, my dad set up a trust fund for each of us. Financially, I'm set for life as long as I make wise investments and don't spend recklessly. Im not rich but i will never have to work.

My girlfriend doesn't know any of this. We live together, and I maintain a modest lifestyle, just like my family does. I haven't told her about the money because I think she would try to spend it carelessly. So.

I tell her I have a job as a blue collar worker, because that's what I told her I did when we met. Im mean I wasn't going to tell her that I was unemployed. That's embarrassing.

In reality, I rent an apartment and when I tell her that I "go to work" i actually spending the day playing CK2 and Mount & Blade Warband while she's at work.

Thing is that we are getting serious and I don't know how to continue from now on. I can't keep lying to her forever. This is my first serious relationship and I think we are going to marry at some point.

All depends anon. Why not actually pick up a trade. Go to trade school. Could help expand your ancestral wealth.
You must know how many anons wish they were in your position. Guard and true your wealth
>>
Whatever you do dont tell her before the marriage, and make her sign a prenuptial before that.
>>
>>34438630
>I'm lying to my girlfriend because I don't trust her. We're going to get married!
You're an idiot, OP.
>>
I think it's smart to lie until you've known each other for like 20 years at which point it's pretty safe to say she's not in it for the money. Otherwise what's the point? You will never know if she's just farming you if she knows about it. You might end up being a lifelong cuck because she is patient and playing the long game. I think a lot of anons here are naive and never had an experience with big sums of money and don't know how much it changes people when they have it or know about it.
>>
Why do you pay rent for a second apartment?
>>
>>34438715
That's actually a great idea
>>34438716
I talked about this with a close friend, I won't her her

I actually own the house we live in, but she pays me 'half the rent' because I told her the lease is in my name before she moved in. I use that money to cover the rent on a cheaper apartment that I use as a "workspace"

Based

Tell her you are a writer. Then you can go hang out and it all kind of makes sense to her
>>
>>34438895
She'll ask to read it, moron.
OP don't tell her shit, ever. Women become sharks when they sniff out money.

Bro why are you still playing warband and not bannerlord. How haven't you started playing dota 2 and day z at your work apartment as well?
>>
>>34438972
You're just jealous you don't have a bangslave
>>
>>34438976
the thought of doing that to someone I loved in the past (currently single) makes me feel horrible guilt and shame
>>
>>34438630
it's not that uncommon anon
I mean you're not rich so you probably don't know but I am also upper middle class with a large passive income and I've went to an expensive university so I have friends who have ridiculous amounts of money
and they don't tell that to people they've just met for many reasons. To keep a normal life in front of middle class people, to get rid of potential fake friends, and to prune gold diggers from the dating pool.
Anyways, eventually if you see she loves you really you tell her the truth, specially if things go serious
but even if they don't, you still tell her the truth if you wanna have something a bit more serious, you usually don't keep lies to each other, trust is a pillar of a healthy relationship
of course you have to know her character by that time, you're not going forward with the relationship for no reason. You explain it to her why you did what you did, most people understand, and the ones that don't, they just will never understand anyways, so you're better off without them.
Some poor people do resent you having the luck of having generational wealth and that resentment starts to show also.
A lot of people commenting right now are kinda like that, they're jealous and expressing that jealousy through anger, name calling, insulting each other and you.
You didn't choose to be born there, it wasn't a prize because you were a better person or a punishment on them to be from a poor family, it was just random chance and they have to learn to live with it.

>>34438630
fucking retarded idea
the relationship won't end well, she'll find out in months, or years if you're very lucky
>>
You're going to have problems if she's still working but unaware of your actual job or income.
I'm with someone in your situation but he's been transparent from the beginning.

>>34438716
If you're honest she wouldn't be there for money. Because:
>i actually spending the day playing CK2 and Mount & Blade Warband
A guy who's unemployed acts like an unemployed guy. There’s no money to spend when he literally can't earn more. All he has is a nicer house to be unemployed in.
>>
>>34439044
>noooo I want more more more or I get the ick
holes are replaceable, generational wealth isn't
>>
>>34438905
Women are too nosey for this shit to work anyways. Unless she's a complete imbecile she's going to figure out that the stories aren't adding up. I give it 3 months tops before she suspects an affair. Shes gunna ask mundane questions about OP's day and OP will ineitably start getting names and locations mixed up. Eventually she will snoop around. Why wouldnt you just tell her that you are wealthy but explain that you prefer a modest lifestyle? If she gets upset then she can fuck off.
>>
>>34438973
I play bannerlord too but I'm a man of habits and I grew up playing Warband, I don't particularly like change
>>34439017
your words are well appreciated, thank you very much.
>>34439038
Maybe, but she won't leave me even if she finds out, that's why I'm dating her. She loves me.
>>34439044
>There’s no money to spend when he literally can't earn more. All he has is a nicer house to be unemployed in.

I have passive income through investments, that cannot be categorized as working but it's not like my assets are stagnated.
>>
>>34439140
>it's not like my assets are stagnated.
That's not the point. Your lifestyle is stagnant. If you tell her that's how it is, there's nothing more to expect from you.

>>34439117
Why are you so retarded?
>>
>>34438630
>My girlfriend doesn't know any of this
If by any means you marry, please, please, get a agreement to protect your money. Money can really change people.
>>
>>34438819
>she pays me 'half the rent'
>I use that money to cover the rent on a cheaper apartment
Just buy another apartment and pay it, at least the money won't go to waste dude.

>Tell her you are a writer.
You're a complete moron, but it's not your fault, lmao
>>
>>34438630
considering how important money is these days, *especially* for people in relationships, you're fucked as far as your relationship goes. you've never had to worry about money so you can't understand *at all* what that kind of revelation would mean to like 90% of the people in the United States, if not more. that's completely ignoring how easy it is for you to casually lie to someone you're in a "relationship" with.

your literal best bet regarding that poor girl you say you're with is to just never tell her. live your lie or end your relationship by revealing how fucked up you are.
