How much of social deception is too much? I know everyone does it from time to time, pretending to be someone you're not, or lying to keep peace. I think everyone changes their manners and speech depending on the people they're with, but how much is too much? I'm saying if one minute you can speak like you're in the hoods, the other you can pretend you're a Facebook user (I'm saying you can speak like white parents in their 50s), the other you're conversing with kids, or talking to people from a niche subculture. Would it be too much pretending to say you can blend in with all of those? That too, in a way, no one from either of those groups could spot you in some other group and be able to say that's 'you'? (I'm not sure, would they be able to?) Of course there's a shit ton of lying involved to convince people that you do truly belong
No one actually knows even basic things about me, and if they do, then it's not the full picture, at all. I can come out as gay to one group and lesbian to other (and NEITHER know if I'm trans or not) and both groups would believe me. That's how little they know about me.
People have consistently described me with wildly opposite adjectives, like sweet, and a narcissist, misogynistic, and liberal, ambitious, and laid-back/lazy, psychopathic, and empathic, etc
How the FUCK is this even possible?
Do people actually don't care about knowing someone as a person that they are not at all interested in this shit at all, or are they just easy to sell narratives to?
I've lost count of how many times I've lied out of habit. I remember recently I said I got the highest grade in my class, to my entire damn class, when I barely passed. Was a ceratainly sight.
Not that I lie "to have fun", I rarely actually enjoy doing so, it's more for vague things like "saving face" or "appearing likable". I don't actually like people. I just like performing. Actual connection to normal people is something out of my reach. Would this be smth "sociopathic"?
