I do like seeing the evidence of Hunter S's "High water mark" in the US. They were still doing some godawful shit, but there was a point in time about 75 years ago where there was genuine optimism - a strong enough belief in a glorious future that they tried to reflect as much of it as they could in the present in every possible facet of life.

I've done all these and more. In the late 90s I experienced a world few will where me and a bunch of kids spent weeks digging out a bike park in the desert. We moved tons of dirt to make a really cool track. It would be there for decades too. I went back in highschool and sure enough people were still using it. I used to go out there to underage drink, chat up girls from other schools and generally act like hooligans in the desert at night with bonfires and shit.
You should come to Vegas it's really fun. America isn't as bad as people say especially in the media. Real stay in your lane type shit. At least out here people don't really care about each other which is really liberating. Everyone is in their own world so you're the last thing on their mind. If you're socially awkward Vegas is a great place. Sure there's people everywhere but they might as well be NPC's since you could be getting your shit rocked and they'll just walk around you.
