what happens to the silver contract once it is used to dump silver prices. I am trying to understand the fundamentals. Silver contracts have absorbed a lot of inflation, so if they dump contracts and they just convert back to dollars wouldn't this increase inflation drastically

Well, back to the green at least. Could have done without the blatant COMEX paper-derivative kikery though, I don't need a reminder that we live in a blatantly corrupt (((western))) system where the "regulators" take part in the rigging. Wait til 2AM kikery or the 8AM CRIMEX slam. Meanwhile Shanghai is probably still above 100. The chinks really need to take the reigns, so long as they aren't as heeb'd as the west is, good enough. True price discovery must prevail.

Depends on two factors which will flow into the spread and your bottom line:
- Premium on gold and silver: You lose some when selling, and you need to pay up when buying
- Tax, depends on differential or VAT
According to my spreadsheet, if I were to swap 1oz gold for silver at my dealer,
with differential tax and 100€/20€ premiums,
I'd get 37oz which makes the loss on spread 38%.
Sounds like a shit trade currently.
You're betting that the GSR will return to 1:37 or lower in that case to break even.

Let me ask everyone this, lets just say silver hits $780 an ounce. Ridiculous number, but goneith it. Hypothetically say, ok, out of my 1725 oz, im selling off 125 with this high.
You try to ship this to JM Bulion or APMEX, or SD Bullion, or whoever online.
You go to their sell page.
How are you going to ensure they pay you below that premium with the market fluctuating this badly?
Can we even trust these dealers?

I'd be very nervous sending nearly $100,000 in the mail. I'm not selling any silver unless I'm swapping it for Gold, and that will only occur in person(for me at least).
I think there will be massive shift in how Gold and Silver are bought and sold at a retail level once prices really start to swell. Eventually you'll likely be able to swap them for new currencies, so I don't plan on trading in much of my silver or gold until then.

>>61778139
Good question. At some point it tops out. Not USPS, that's for sure. I think you'd have to actually go through armored vehicle companies. A huge portion of BRINKS and other's transportation clients is transporting large amounts of precious metals.
>>61778148
>I'd be very nervous sending nearly $100,000 in the mail
Agreed. As mentioned, probably would need to be a pick up by a company.
>Eventually you'll likely be able to swap them for new currencies, so I don't plan on trading in much of my silver or gold until then.
Like at a bank? I mean, its dont think its crazy for banks to start a buy in program if we get to these kinds of prices.

hopefully it'll go sub 50 with hard tamping, and stick around for a few weeks while the chinese try to fix it.

If the Chinese government bans forigen imports of gold and silver to anything outside of the government banking industry or the Chinese governemt, then we will see a significant drop.
I dont think we've taken that into account too much.
Another anon last night was saying thwt Chinese people dont have a lot of ability diversify their ascets to protect against government seizure. I brought this up when another anon said he wanted to invest in a chinese ETF.
China from the government, their war industrial needs, energy technology needs, and the people themselves buying precious metals, we are definitely seeing a shift upward in the market price. BUT once they pull back and say the commoners may no longer purchase, this will also see another dip in the market. Simultaneously, the chinese government will most likely juat keep buying PMs at a regular pace.

I'd honestly go with anyone but USPS.
FedEx of UPS from my experience as a seller and buyer is safer even with those damn high prices. USPS has lost mail packages, let items sit in their back room by mistake for 3 weeks, and damaged things to hell. Selling even $30K worth of silver is too risky for my taste with USPS.

I have no intention of selling my metal for fiat. I might trade some silver for gold and/or land but I view silver as savings, and I don't want any savings in fiat.
At some point I may believe that silver reached a near peak relative to gold or land and that's when I'll make my move.

The drain on the COMEX/LBMA is faster than metal can be replaced. When it hits zero, what happens to the price? They CANNOT increase silver mine production substantially. They can liquidate the ETFs maybe, for the right price. What will that price be? I know many stackers here aren't interested in selling for fiat. What would I do with a million dollars in fiat in a recession, while the markets are crashing, property values are crashing and the dollar is crashing?

We've hit the bottom after clearing out all the lettuce hands. The only people buying are mostly holding out for delivery. Silver is STILL close to $30 bucks more in China than in the west and it costs only $2.00/oz to airfreight silver to China.
There are also reports that the USA is trying to cut off China's silver refinery access to south American silver mine output.
The Chinese people are eagerly slurping any silver they can get. It's so easy for us to get psyoped by the ficticious paper price, forgetting that these jews fractional reserved silver and will default when they get pressed to redeem.
The jews worst nightmare, a bank run on something they cannot print. It's annuda shoaha!
The fundamentals have never been better, and I'm grateful to that the fomo crying at buying the peak is dying down.
Silver will go well past $120/oz in time. Michael Oliver suggest $300-$500, and that's just for THIS year.
I'm thinking $1000+ silver and $20,000+ gold aren't unreasonable targets for the next couple of years.

It's very likely that even if the paper price went down to $70, you won't be able to get any real silver at that price.
Kudos to the silverchads who backed up the truck on 90% while it was below $80. You were the real winners in this COMEX margin call slamdown.

Estimates vary because the bullion banks can create infinite naked paper shorts. We know for certain the ratio is greater than 100:1, but it varies so we don't know if it's 250:1, or 300:1 or greater.
THE EVEN FUCKING ADMITTED IT WHEN THEY CREATED THE FUTURES MARKETS. By definition, a forward contract is for something that doesn't exist yet.
Take your fud and flush it down your toilet.... oh, right, you don't have one.

For my next search, it will be what percentage of indians have their own flush toilet in their home.
In my house, every person has their own personal toilet. Even the cat. We are toilet rich, but there are no jeets allowed.

One hell of a bounce after that drop! Let's hope it's not a dead cat, but I think the drop was mainly because of monthly close and shorts. That's why I bought on Saturday.

There are a couple of legitimate reasons for selling future delivery contracts for silver or other commodities.
1. Miners will often sell future production to raise capital for operating expenses. Farmers and ranchers will also do exactly the same thing. It gives them guaranteed price today regardless of market conditions at the time of sale.
2. Manufacturers and dealers who deal in large quantities of silver inventory. Say a mint buys a million ounces of silver (1000 comex bars) in order to make retail product. If the price of silver drops by two dollars per ounce in between the time he pays for the bars and the time he sells the retail product, he's lost two million dollars. The way around this is to LEASE the silver, or alternately HEDGE by selling 200 contracts on the futures market, (200 contracts @ 5000/oz) so that if the price goes down two bucks, he loses on retail, but makes it back on his futures price, and if silver goes up $2, he loses it on his futures price, but makes it up on the retail end, so his net profit is just his premium/mark up, and he is protected from silver price volatility.
A speculator who wishes to short silver must borrow existing silver from someone who already has it at the COMEX.
Bullion banks are allowed to short unlimited amounts of silver that does NOT exist, as they are principles who own and control the COMEX itself.
They can sometimes figleaf their naked shorts by rehypothecating (reselling) the same silver bars multiple times, but this is still naked shorting because there is only one bar that has been sold multiple times to different buyers.
If you or I did something like this we would be in Federal prision and wouldn't get a pardon from Trump because we don't wear small hats.
Naked short selling is one of the key tools of silver price manipulation, along with spoofing and margin rule changes.

Platinum used to be valued above and beyond gold for its appearance, durability, and rarity. Look at pieces of Platinum jewelry from the Victorian to Art Deco eras and compare the types of stones used in gold jewelry from the same time and even workmanship to Platinum jewelry. Now examine the valuation of the metal in that time period to more modern times, and you'll notice the price was always greater till industrial demand increased greatly and comex futures were created for Platinum, average ratio of 1 oz Platinum to 2 oz gold now at around 2 oz Platinum to 1 oz gold. Currently technological advances are requiring even more Platinum than ever before, logically the ratio should swing back to the other direction, resulting in better returns on capital or swapping ratios.

I never went to a coin merchant in my life but bought silver and gold and rarely sold any because I understood it's underpriced and a safety net if I needed something like a house fire occurred, I could get the molten lump and still get currency to cover needs. Dislike the coin merchants, but do understand they pay bills and rent, just don't go near them as screw premiums.

Gold is primarily a monetary metal. Silver is monetary and industrial. Platinum is primarily industrial. So each has somewhat different prospects. Platinum has unique properties as a catalyst. Because hydrogen production and use in fuel cells requires platinum, if hydrogen gains widespread use, platinum will soar. But that depends on continued economic growth. A world-wide depression will put that growth ten years out.

>Silver is Justice Edition
Wisdom is moar valuable than silver though, so doing justice, judgment, and equity appears to be better.
Knowing the words of the Lord are like silver, and what convicts moar than God's words?
Imagine believing that equity can be attained without accountability or conviction on a personal level if you can. Justice is the revelation of fallible and incomplete knowledge of which we all suffer from. Justice is fair and right, but the comparisons of fallible against fallible is fallacy in and of itself. So much like comparisons of silver against currency refutes and shatters all claims of value of satisfaction to "do" anything of value for people in a realistic way, so to whenever we try to compare ourselves to Christ we must recognize if authentic and honest with ourselves that we are not capable in and of ourselves even colectivized to create anything without his provision.
So yeah, silver is justice as it is blindly and indiscriminately divides false perceptions of our opinions just as the words of Jesus do still to this day.
Remember this: liars have a place reserved for them in the lake of fire, and that's equity.
