No e2ee encryption by default. If both parties turn it on, only personal chats get encrypted, groups remain unencrypted. Worse encryption scheme than the standard in bigger messengers. Not anonymous. Insecure. Durov cooperates with the police.

A lot of the Telegram criticism is based on stereotypes or limited use. It’s not privacy-maximal by design, but for large groups, channels, and distribution, the infrastructure is hard to beat.
