I know a few blacks that do get good wigs and it worked. Probably one of the best examples of a good black cosplay. Over 100K followers. Just don't be an insufferable race warrior, and no one will hate you. That's the problem.

Went to Kumoricon last year and had to deal with way to many groups and people winning contest for their cosplay, even when it made no sense. Like Leon from RE:4, but he had dreads...another was Saber from Fate/Stay, but the she (man identifying as a woman) had cut their hair too look like Gwen from Spiderman.
