So Comikt is less than 6 days from now and still no thread about it on either /a/ or /cgl/. 4chan is truly dying & ober!
Obviously all the early entry tickets are sold out but you can still buy them online or from in person stores like Mellon books or Animate.
https://www.comiket.co.jp/info-a/TAFO/C107TAFO/

For the gulls that have made it the promised land or just here in Japan on vacation. Who's going and what are you cosplaying as?
I know traditionally anons met up outside at the "Red Saw" in Big Site.
There are other events going on and around Ueno & and Akiharaba aswel.
Expect crowds, lots of crowds...

There aren't any threads because everyone knows you don't go to comiket for any cosplay unless you are a professional. At that point you wouldn't waste time like a place here, maybe CC or something higher caliber but certainly not here.

>I know traditionally anons met up outside at the "Red Saw" in Big Site.
I can only imagine the smell and utter cringe this would be.

Please don't embarrass us that actually do respect cosplaying you so obvious board tourist.

>everyone knows you don't go to comiket for any cosplay unless you are a professional.
Sounds like a skill issue to me. I'm going as RE4 Leon and my two lady Jap friends as Ashley and the other as Vanilla from game Nekopara. Spent easily over 3 grand to get the jacket, outfits, makup and accessories between the three of us. Not to mention actually working out.
Gonna be driving there since taking the train with bags is PITA since you have to change at the con. If you have a rent/car its actually not too bad to park there but you still have to walk to the gates.

>I can only imagine the smell and utter cringe this would be.
Generally speaking anon westerners in Japan just by the fact of having their shit together to even live in Japan are pretty well adjusted for the most part.
Also I do stress that Anime came before cosplay, even if comikt is 1/2 porn it still nice to see what's new or even just mingle with the artists. Yes it's true its not a cosplay focused con and that's okay. If that bothers you that anime fans go to an anime con then I say deal with it and respect the space that YOU are guest in. Otherwise chillout and enjoy the con and cosplayers.

It's another chud larping in Japan as a 'real japanese' thread. No one actually drives in Japan who has a brain. Yeah sure troll, people will pay attention to you because you're white and stuff, sure.

>Generally speaking anon westerners in Japan just by the fact of having their shit together to even live in Japan are pretty well adjusted for the most part
Ah yes fat smelly weebs who get told they are special. Yes anon you are special...

I intentionally drive everywhere in Japan because I am not poor and I have no need to cuck out to the train humiliation rituals nor be bound by the last train timetables if I'm out with friends/girlfriends late at night.
You'll understand when you get a relationship or have family dependents/needs.
>>
>>10966031
No you don't and if you do people cringe around you. I stopped caring about your opinion after you dropped the J slur.

Anyways, good troll thread hope you are just like Jake Paul

I love how /cgl/ immediately gets melty over actual cosplay topics. I don't know if its trolls or actual bitter foids that cannot be happy no matter what. No wonder this place is dying.
>>10966028
Comkit isn't all porn but there's a lot. There's also a lot of general hobby circles that do necessarily have to do with manga/anime directly. This was a LONG time ago but I saw scuba diving/underwater photo booth that sold custom housings for cameras. It was around the time Grand Blue was out and the owner had a connection to the original artist.
>>
>>10966033
I'll put it simple so you troglodyte can understand it.

Comiket is a professional cosplay scene
It is a market that sells doujinshi not a festival like in the USA
People don't like it when you do bad cosplay that insults the character
You aren't Japanese, don't try to wear the skin of one, it's like the modern day blackface
No you don't live in Japan even if you want to larp as one because you took out a klarna loan to get there
People who take pictures with you are doing it out of pitty
People smile and laugh AT you not with you

I actually am half Japanese so it's not an issue but you are probably one of those fat americans who walks around trying to cosplay a character they aren't.

This is pointless. Stop.
>>
>>10966036

Kek unbelievable happa seethe.
I own my home(s) here and work with the US and JSDF.

If I didn't know any better I think I know you're that touhou cosplayer who moved to Japan and thinks he is big money. I sure feels like that vibe of thinking you are above us because you have money adn live in Japan. Let me know when that runs out, I have friends.

Funny enough I know him and hes comming to Comiket too. But he doesnt live in Japan. He's actually kinda famous in the Touhou circles.
Also m8 I litterally started a thread about Comiket and cosplaying. Not to dickwave about status Jesu.
If you are a hapa cosplayer why don't you show off your cosplays or better since you claim to be Hapa maybe some tips or ideas/charater that go well with western cosplayers at an Japanese convention? I assume you would know better right?

Wow that's so cool I bet you are the coolest person ever wow so cool wow. Amazing you win the most awesome cgl person ever!

Please never cosplay in Japan from the respectable cosplay community
>>
>>10966048
Modesty I suppose but they look like sport underwear. Considering the walking your do at a con a smart choice.
>>10966069
I am indeed cool thank you very but I am not that person in the photo.
>>
>>10966070
This is my last (You) I have better things to do tonight.
You aren't Japanese
You will never be Japanese
You don't live in Japan if what you say is true not being the person in the photo(not that I believe you)
Your shitty cosplay is not funny or cute or anything people laugh AT you not with you
You are some shitty person who does not realize Japan is for a serious level of cosplay talen and figure. Not a fat white guy.
Stop destroying beloved characters in 'le epic hekkin tiktok brained' cross play in what is shitty at best
Stop being a fucking idiot no one wants to be lifted like in that picture, poor girl is probably scared for her life.

I feel I speak for most all of cgl and CC when I say we don't want the determent you bring to people who try to cosplay as a whole. GOOD. BYE.

“I am not the person in the photo”

Yeah ok bud, because if you were that would be pretty sad. Why would you WANT to be Japanese. Like especially given the dude in the photo is a tall white guy why would you want to be some buck toothed 5’4 Jap whose testosterone is so low he can’t grow a full beard and lives in an overcrowded country with sexual assault, no guns whatsoever and still denies war crimes like Unit 731. Couldn’t be me.

are there cosplay rules there like you cant be in cosplay outside certain areas?
>>
>>10966354
The big rule is you aren't supposed to go in cosplay on the trains. You change in changing rooms at the con. Now rule of thumb is the if character wears normal everyday clothes then that's okay. But if you have props etc well that's a no and they will deny you entry (its not consistent). Either way the cosplay rules are actually kinda lax aside from that. You can have airsoft guns for example because its not like American where shootings are all the rage.

That being said it is kinda stupid and part of the whole Japanese culture of "not being a nuance" with lewd or un-conservative clothes. But in "spaces" or neighborhoods it's completely okay to be half naked so long as you cover your genitals (boobs okay) which obviously is a loophole.

I don't get either because cosplay (while it was "founded at Comiket eons past) was always a sideshow for the main event which is a comic market. When you think about it all cosplayers at comiket are interlopers.

>>
>>10966406
I suppose it makes sense given how "obnoxious" some cosplays can be when people just want to get to work/home from work
plus bulky props and the cosplay may demand more space due to parts sticking out or otherwise being not-so-designed for brushed against or bumped into in crowded places
and a blanket rule is probably the easiest solution

>>10966409
it's because to many it's the 'mecca' of cosplay and validation that you made it. There are so many people I met at cons and cgl meetups who are going to Japan soon(tm) just one more year and we got it, just one a few more klarna payments for my flight to AX!

Comiket and Japan in general here is a sore reminder that people here are stuck at home or stuck in debt so of course you'll get the worst of cgl since you're poking the bear.

>>10966241
Also most people like in this photo could not understand the basic sign in the picture, get lost, and confused, and then realize that line con in the USA is potato chips to what comiket has.

I forgot /cgl/ is a slow board. I guess I'll post the rest of my photos. Most were shit a combination of me being a bad photographer, wrong format and lighting/ISO and using a completely inappropriate lens (85mm 1.5) for such a crowded venue. Lesson learned.
I will say this the few cosplayers I did photograph were SUPER engaging and friendly. They all willing to pose and for a long time too. Most were surprised almost offended when I took just 6 shots were like, "nani? That is it?" "Daijobu It's ookayy". I don't know if its a Japanese cultural thing of providing service or just part of the whole passion of cosplay but either way /cgl/ is right they do take it way more seriously (like any hobby in Japan).
