buenos aires anon, generally tried to attend the Yukai Fest, Jigoku, and stayed out of big conventions (Ani-con, argentina comic-con)

>best
Teyvat Market (Genshin impact themed con)
>worst
Retro Market in december
there was practically fucking nothing to compensate for the heat, but I bet Emilio and the other gaming chucklefucks that were invited were not just there for the hot dogs and soda. I dunno, I just feel like the priority went to making "famous" online personalities happy instead of actually having something outside of just a bunch of retro junk being sold in stands.

regarding the OP image, oddly enough, I feel like I hardly saw any Marin cosplays this year. Lots of Genshin Impact cosplays, though. Winter continues to be iffy.
Oh, and a bunch of people got shitcanned (actual pedos being outed) during february, that was fun. You'd hardly notice it if you stayed out of instagram and just kept going.

>local anime con in France twice (it was a waste of time because it almost only attracts normies)
>local retro game event that was pretty nice but my friend didn't want to stay for very long and was doing retarded shit that could have gotten us in trouble with organizers like changing the settings of the old TV sets and making them unusable
>yaoi and yuri con twice, once in my city and the other time in Paris which was good overall
>doujinshi event in Tokyo in June or July which was really good.
I think the yaoi and yuri con would have been better if you removed the yuri part because after the events, yurifags who started to watch anime during the 2020 lockdown and who think the green yuri manga and Arcane are masterpices were trying to start shit with organizers online for some made up reasons and they admitted that they're jealous that the yaoi part of the con attracted way more people as usual.

Now I'm not sure what to do in 2026. I'm mostly interested in artist alleys, so I thought I should maybe take a break and save money, and to just stick to what artists post online. And on top of that I keep hearing about how Dokomi is better than Japan Expo these days when it comes to their respective artist alleys but I don't think the timing is right for me to go anywhere in June. On the other hand I'm seriously considering quitting my job after a specific date and traveling to several Asian countries until I get sick of it so maybe I could try to go to more Comic City events in Japan later this year. I heard Korean cons tend to focus more on merchs than doujinshi/fanzines, it shouldn't be a big issue if I don't understand Korean in that case. I also need to check cons in Australia, I plan to visit someone in Sidney in a few months.

bs as here too

started cosplaying this year despite being old as fuck
I have never gone to either comic con or anicon, is there any reason you staying out of them?
I have been going mostly to fuwa fuwa con, but its too full of people (more like the venue is too small) and the cosplay contest fills up super fast
yukai fest is held in the same venue but with far less people, for some reason (theyre both organized by the same people)

I have gone to a few other small events, but decided Im no longer going to non-vocaloid/pjsk centric events anymore, because I mostly cosplay a pjsk character and it kinda sucks when people dont know who it is

as for the cosplaying itself, I bought a bunch costumes, made some pieces, and learned a bit about makeup and mostly about wig styling, my wigs sure look a lot better now
I have also won some places in contests (only 3rd and 2nd so far) I doubt I'll ever make it to first place unless I use a mask, but I dont want to be a mask cuck. I dont actually care, this all started because I started learning vocaloid choreos to do cardio and then thought I could try dancing in the contests for shit and giggles. the prizes are shit anyway, even when its actual cash, its very little, and most times its cringe merch

now I have to convince my bf to cosplay with me

>I have never gone to either comic con or anicon, is there any reason you staying out of them?
Yeah, it's personal reasons (locations, college stuff, etc). I went to one anicon when it was still called animecon, it was ok. Funny thing is that I got the ticket at the door and there was no line. Satuday iirc. Hopefully it's still like that but I doubt it.

>comic con
Not into comics and I hear that the variety of cosplays is lower there.
>anicon
might go in april 2026, the location is more convenient than other times.

If I can recall correctly off the top of my head:

>Savannah Animazing
Freezing cold while test running a new cosplay
>St. Pete con
Doubled with spring training so I made a weekend out of it, the coliseum is neat
>Wreck Con
Kind of forgettable but it's done by college kids so it can be forgiven
>Momocon
Actually scored a host hotel room but the rest of the center was a pain to navigate, broken elevators, no anons wanted to hang, 2024 was better
>Metrotham Con
Supposed to be in chattanooga but ended up in the mountains of Dalton GA, barely anyone around, highlight was getting drunk in my hotel watching Jaws 50th anniversary
>Thundercon
Done out of a farmer college, surprisingly good cosplay taste from country folk
>Wasabicon
Hanging with Hazbin fans while dressed as Joshua Graham, chill panels and fans
>Waifucon
Went for the novelty of a hentai con in Alabama, was drunk for most of it, got to touch fat black asses
>Cub Con
First attempt at a contest, mogged by actual craftsmen

Okay year I guess but I need to diversify my wardrobe
>>

>waifucon
i was also there, they did pretty good for a first year tinycon even though programming outside of the main events was a shitshow
seconding the fat black asses, that was nice

Were you cosplaying or just plainclothes?

Man, I've tried writing out a year in review like 3 times now but always stop myself short cuz of how lowkey and uneventful it was. Nothing terribly wrong or terribly right. Of course I've said this more than once before and then reassessed, with a better opinion

...Actually what am I saying? 2025 was the first year I pulled off four in a row AND my first international one. That counts for a lot even if they weren't the most exciting
