So I want to make normal Carolina rice in the microwave. I have a pressure cooker but I hate having to clean it out and the pot is too big to eat out of. I would get a smaller rice cooker with a removable bowl that I could just eat out of but I live with my parents and they are hoarders so basically there is no counter space for it. So I would like to find a way to cook rice in the glass bowl I'm going to eat it out of. Anyone done this? I can put a plate over it to cover it of course, I do that for vermicelli rice noodles a lot, but I'd like to start doing it for rice too. Just to minimize dishes as much as possible. I could make it on the stove in a small pot and just eat out of that but I would like to avoid it. Anyone done it in a microwave or with a hot plate and letting it soak? I'd like to be able to leave it cooking while I shower before work.

if you aren't broke as fuck, it's work experimenting. You said you're gonna use glass, so I think that would work. Hot water + rice is what a rice cooker does. The texture might be a bit different, but you gotta survive lil bro

do you have a small non stick pan? i got one for eggs from ALDI for 5€. it's only 20cm and i didn't want to get a rice cooker either but at some point i realized that the small non stick pan is no different than a cheap rice cooker. you don't even need a lid. aluminum foil or a plate works too. just wash and cook the rice for a few minutes and then you let it steam

you'll have to get a wooden or a plastic spoon if you really don't want to use plates but who eats rice without anything? you'll need a plate for the meat anyway. it's just one plate. it's not that much work

I was figuring I could steam it with a small amount of water, like with vermicelli rice noodles it takes 4 or 5 minutes tops.

A rice cooker doesn't need counterspace. You can put it anywhere so long as you have a hot pad that you can use to take the bowl out of it.
Just measure the rice into it, use a bathroom sink to add the water. Use the included paddle to mix/drain/rinse to your preference in a bathroom sink. Then take it to whatever room you want to and plug it in.
I tend to plug mine into an outlet in the dining room because I don't want to steam the underside of my wall cabinets, and it's going to be moved to the table when it's time to eat anyway.
I got a tiny $17 one that maxes out at 4 servings.

Idk what carolina rice tastes like but you can definitely cook rice in the microwave. Just cook it like they do in like south asia where they cook it like pasta. Use an excess amount of water, microwave for ??? (do the testing yourself buddy), and when it's perfect texture and softness, take it out and drain the water or reuse it. Easy peasy

Yes, I was doing it and it's easy as fucking. You put water and rice in a pot, set a timer, and you may eat your rice whenever you fancy afterwards. Water I was eyeballing with the finger method. Time _will vary_ depending on the actual power output (and settings) of your microwave so I won't even bother telling you about my settings. You must try them out.

cont btw. on a stove you put 100 grams of rice in a 200 grams of water (keep 1:2 proportions, and they happen to be the same with volume), bring it to boil on high heat, cover the pan with the lid, reduce heat to minimum and set the alarm on your phone for 15 minutes to go back and turn it off. The difference with the microwave method is like 1 minute spend bringing water to the boil - and, possibly - one additional trip to the kitchen to turn it off.
I think that people are really getting lazy recently. Maybe hire yourself a cook or something.

As far as the specifics go - 1:2 proportions and 15 minutes time - it will also vary depending on the specific kind of rice and the heat output of your "minimum" settings. There's no way around trying it out on your particular stove if you want perfect results but you should land in the ballpark with typical settings.
