Why are alternative diets so goddamn weird about spices?

Doesn't matter if it's high carb, low carb, vegan, vegetarian, base diet or carnist, the moment they do something away from the norm they look at you like you proppsed to eat babies if you add a dash of cumin or pepper or dare to salt it adequately.

As someone who follows a HCLF WFPB diet I can assure you I salt my food and don't shy away from spices. I may side eye you if you add fat to the pan though.

So you've cut something like 10,000 calories per week and you're gaining? Holy fuck lad, put the cakes down

OP, I've never seen this even once. Sounds like you're easily trolled and riled up, so people around you do that for entertainment. Grow a backbone and it'll stop. This has nothing to do with diet and everything to do with interpersonal dynamics.
tl;dr: you're autistic

I've seen it but only with carnivore dieters. They'll often have disagreements over whether spices are okay or not and it becomes a kind of purity test for them.

Other than that, it's just the people who want to go on about spices covering up rotten meat and whatever nonsense to try and explain why spices bad.

Spices have calories and some are more dense than others. Cumin, nutmeg, turmeric, and ground cayenne are some of the most caloric for example.

Yeah but you don't really use enough to add any meaningful amount of calories. If you're worrying about calories in spices you probably have an eating disorder.

It is literally impossible for your rate of weight gain to have increased after cutting that many calories unless you've made other changes to offset that
