Don't they eat some kind of chowders early in the book? Maybe you could make that?

Anything mariner related. There's marinara sauce and freselle (Neapolitan/southern Italian hard tack). There's caponata Napoletana and there are Genoese versions cappon magro etc. Those are classics but you can go look for actual mariners recipes wherever you live and give them an update. Chances are a good restaurant near you already did that.
You can dig through history and make an original ceviche (llibre de Sent Sovi, 1300s Spain). There's all sorts of stuff you can do with a bisque (for the drinking part). Or you can do something with spirulina, which is basically just plankton, stuff whales eat. It's healthy and veggie, the whales in your book club will love it.

tht sounds wonderful anon, what a brilliant idea - what the whales eat - never crossed my mind but it's so obvious... I was also thinking ceviche as a starter. might go for some rum cocktails for drinks

Whale shaped cake, maybe you can add to it by making “harpoons” out of string and toothpicks. Could try pairing with a fruit “boat” using half a watermelon shell filled with fruit and with a sail made with a wood chopstick and some paper

I liked Moby Dick.
It’s free of symbolism, just a simple story of a man’s hatred towards an animal.

Are these discontinued or what? Every time I go to Dollar General there's just an empty slot on the shelf where the whales should be. Been that way for months in every town I go to.

Alpha males can snuggle in bed without feeling awkward or gay. It's gay if their dicks get hard.
