It's the thighs. Just look at Lloyd from Dainanaoji. The hips have to compensate for the thighs so the body can walk, jump, squat and so on - so it gives an "illusion" of large glutes, but that's not usually common. Most boys will just be top-heavy, but there are exceptions with weight going down to the thighs/hips. Point is, all boys are beautiful no matter size or shape.

Not positive, but I think it's referenced in the original Japanese release of the game too. That version was called NieR: Replicant.
After the original Japanese version, there was a USA/EU release that changed the story from a brother trying to save his sister to a dad and his daughter. That got renamed NieR: Gestalt.
The remaster from a few years ago is based on the Japanese version, and it's called NieR: Replicant (version number)
Both versions of Replicant also have dialogue from Emil where he admits being attracted to brother Nier.
