I vaguely remember reading it but it was back in the days where I only casually lurked on /hhg/. Charlastor would get more hits, I'm biased though because I wouldn't read it if it was Charlastor. (another consideration, but if there's any objectionable content then you're more likely to get called out on tumblr or whatever again. Camp Fawn is shota, right, or am I thinking of something else?) Going on his past relationship with Mimzy (assuming it's still canon), I can see him preferring chubbier girls. Beauty standards were different in the early 20th century, and we hadn't quite reached the societal consensus that the 'heroin chic' look was preferable. That said, I don't know if I'd consider it him having a fetish or anything, just a preference, or at the least being indifferent to a woman's body if she makes him happy/keeps him entertained...which checks out for an asexual who's basing relationships on emotional/mental attraction and not sexual desire.

I don't think you like it, it involves Al being raped by Vox and Val after season 1. It's kind of a mess, I just sort of wrote without planning anything. I want to rewrite it with season 2 in mind, and tidy it up so I can actually finish it. The next chapter I wrote but never posted involves a lot of Rosie and it would work so much better with her owning his soul. I feel bad for kind of abandoning it, more than anything.

Unfortunately, yeah. I placed a bet that /hhg/ would descend into shit by March without new content, but I think it'll probably be much sooner sadly. At a point it'll become too tiresome and I'll post less, which I have to do anyway for a move. It's very difficult to be a deer lover in the thread right now. The arguments over his race are tiresome since it comes from the perspective that deerposters have certain fetishes or political ideologies. We don't. On the other hand there are ship wars over the fact that he's a 'top' or 'bottom' when both sides of the argument are woefully OOC, so people should just enjoy what they enjoy and not be weird about it instead of arguing who's *more* OOC.

It's tiresome.

It really isn't. I can definitely imagine being upset about the show proper if it goes in an unsavory direction, but arguing over fanon is just not where it's at. It's all OOC, RA, RS...all OOC. I can't enjoy most Hazbin fanworks because of that fact (Al should be a manipulative serial killer, after all), but if other people do enjoy it they should, and not get so hung up over whose interpretation is closer to canon. It's petty nonsense.

On the race topic, ah, yeah, people need to stop taking the bait. A lot of it is just trying to troll WH into arguing so they can have an excuse to shit up the thread. I don't think anyone in these arguments are actually deerposters, ironically. So whenever we DO post Al's new design we're met with all of these outlandish accusations and people spamming SAAR nonsense. Most of us still love and post old design Alastor, so it's a weird thing to rag us over. We can't change what's been canonized. A lot of people didn't like the design, and she conceded on the mustache, but he was never going back to being white. Alastor fans have the choice to either accept the new design or to stick to fanon. I pass no judgement on people who do either, I'd like to think most deer fans would be the same.

That's the thing, I enjoy most deer ships despite them being ooc. Fanon is a great space to explore what-ifs and AUs. Modern fandoms suck so much, there's far too much shitting on other fans for really stupid reasons. Viv doesn't really help with this either. It's not hard to hide and avoid what you don't want to see.

I really try to be generous towards people who don't enjoy what I enjoy, since one of the main points of fandom is being able to explore different scenarios without the constraints of canon. Unfortunately drama often finds me over expressing the most basic opinions, which is sad. It's not really worth discussing things with the majority of the fandom at this point. I'm just thankful that most of our posters here are sensible and we can enjoy different things without sperging at each other about it lol. Unified in deer love, as it should be.

I was invested in white Al for years. Most of my merch is white Al, my favorite daki is white Al. But I've kind of moved on and accepted mixed Al to the point where I slightly prefer it, even if white Al holds a special place in my heart. My acceptance of him being mixed holds no deeper meaning. I'm not a secret race fetishist, not a crypto far leftist, I don't even agree with Viv's retcon, I just accept that the show evolved and the characters evolved along with it. I don't necessarily agree with it, but Viv would have never listened to the people who preferred his old design over her Bluesky echo chamber. It's not being defeatist to say that. At the end of the day Hazbin will always be a show made by leftists to appeal to leftists. People who are centrists like myself, or right leaning will always be a minority. And yeah, we worked through these race issues over a year ago at this point, most of us have either moved on or focused solely on fanon. We shouldn't have to be apprehensive of posting fanart for fear he's too dark and thus triggering a thread meltdown because a few people think we're being fetishistic or pushing an agenda. At that point it's exactly the same as woke people attacking artists who draw him white, I'm scared to post my drawings of him being brown in /hhg/ for fear of backlash.

I'm lucky in that I enjoy most deer content. Fujo stuff, straight stuff, yume stuff... it's all good. But I try to be realistic about the ships I like too. It's self-indulgent, and I'm the last person who will freak out if any ships do become canon. (though I firmly believe they shouldn't, for Alastor anyway) It's nice here, we're respectful of each other. I doubt I'll post my RA fic here though because I I think I'm the only one who likes it. It's where I have an advantage, only getting into Hazbin after season 1. I wasn't attached to his original human form, I still prefer demon Al anyway. I think artist making him darker skinned is fine, as long as they keep his features as they are. When they do a full racist caricature redesign, it's just gross. My philosophy remains the same, enjoy what you like, don't shit on others unless they're legitimately being problematic. Drawing human Al a few shades darker than in the show isn't going to start a white genocide ffs. We still appreciate your art here, even if /hhg/ is full of baitfags.

You know, I don't remember there being that much pushback against RA until relatively recently. When I first cane here almost two years ago it was a pretty basic ship. Maybe it's due to its popularity, or the rivalry between RS and RA posters, I'm not sure.

Yes, the facial features are the most important part, I don't care for artists who draw him with different features because then it stops being him. But as far as Viv goes, just because she politicizes her character doesn't mean that I have to as well. And thanks, I'm focusing more on writing these days, so it's a good break for me if anything.

I don't think the schizo helped either, having someone constantly pushing for it to be canon is annoying. I really doubt that it will be canon in the way everyone wants. It's not going to be some sweet romantic love story because it doesn't suit either character, or where it seems Viv is going with the story in general. All we know is Alastor and Lucifer will have some kind of relationship, that could mean anything, even if Viv likes every piece of RA art on bluesky. At least that means Al is unlikely to be killed off randomly half way through the story. There are a lot of weird RA shippers, and some of the art is pure garbage, while RS is generally more consistently good quality. I just don't care anymore, I like what I like, I'm never going to spam /deer/ with RA, but I wouldn't with any other ship either. (technically I'm more into Appleradio anyway)

Viv is her own worst enemy. I mean, they're her characters, she can do what she likes with them. The pushing of pride merch always rubs me the wrong way though for example, like she wanted to make sure there was loads of representation without caring whether it fit the characters or not. I don't usually spend loads of time describing how characters look in fics, we all know what Alastor looks like. I try to steer clear of fanfiction cliches like referring to people as 'the blonde' or whatever as well.

Well, RA has been dealt a bad hand on /hhg/. The schizo basically guaranteed that it would be universally hated, and the one poster who was absolutely adamant that they were going to spam it in /deer/ after we said we didn't want the thread focusing on ships didn't help the situation. It made it easier for certain people to use it to bait the threads. That's not even touching on it being (unfairly maligned) RA anon's favorite ship, which made people target it even further. It's unfortunate. I don't enjoy the ship, but I also don't think any ship should be banned from /hhg/ or targeted. Charlastor also gets an unusual amount of hate that it never had before.

It ironically makes her media look worse. Like, why are all the characters in Hell LGBT+ minorities? What are you trying to say Viv? There are infinite ways to describe a character's sexuality without them waving a flag. It all comes across as very try hard and pathetic.

This. Even aside from his improved human design, he looks better and more cohesive with his slightly darker skin tone in sinner form. It gels well with all the red. I look at season 1 Alastor and it actually hurts my eyes with how stark he looks. He especially looks aesthetically pleasing in dark lighting where his red turns more pink.

Can't say this on /hhg/ though or you'll gey dogpiled. What gets me is he's only slightly darker, it's such a minor change, yet these fuckers make it sound like he's as black as Mr. Popo from DBZ and you love BBC if you think this. And you can tell it's not even solely baiting, some of them really are mindbroken over this. Nobody is more obsessed with black cock than racists, I swear to god.

I want to say the new Charlastor hate is scatspammer's doing, but I'm only speculating. Though they're still trying to target RS, they can't really profit from it anymore since it is canon onesided now and everyone is wise to their shtick at this point. The last time I interacted with any fandom it was the early to mid 2010s, and there was *some* controversy over lolisho and incest, but a lot of people just rolled their eyes at the people who waffled on about how terrible it was. Reality and fiction had a much stronger dividing line. During those times I don't remember fujos being as aggressive either, that was a possessive yume trait if anything. Granted I never got into BL outside of one ship, so I was mostly looking at yuri or straight ships.
