Seems that wanted to speed too much info and characters but in the end didn't show much.
Tony characters feel a little arrogant but is better than the garbage sad man.
Williamson is known to use the Rogue gallery (hell, he and Simone are the only one that wrote a decent Livewire) I hope his pacing isn't fucked just to show too many like It happened in Green Arrow

I don't know why to bring Jessica Jones in, but the writer seems leaning toward heavy MCU characterisation, so that's probably the reason.

People are like that. A lot of my family say they support the mentally ill, but really hate my Dad because his Bipolar makes him act crazy and get into episodes. If Marvel want to dog on somebody with Bipolar they should do it to Norman, he really is a bad person at his core. Pym is a great guy, he's just fucked in the head.

Exactly, Norman might have mental issues but he’s obviously rotten to the core while Hank wants to be a hero in spite of his issues, which is why Ultron exists. Instead of the Ultron-Pym shit and the MCU synergy(the MCU should have used Hank anyway but that’s a completely different discussion), maybe they could have had a storyline where he actually pushes through his issues and makes amends, moving back to being a hero, whether that’s Ant-Man or another mantle. They gave him a kid with Tigra a decade ago, have that be part of his motive to improve and move forward rather than moping around like he has since the MCU synergy.

It doesn’t help that Marvel itself has fed into it between the Ultimate comics and characters calling him a wife beater in 616. They’re afraid of actually tackling him as a character which is why the most relevance he’s had is in the Ultimate universe reboot where he’s brain damaged enough to be entirely passive.

The idea I went with is this.
>Tony in the OG comics was always teetering on the edge of death due to his heart damage
>THAT could get fixed though because it was an injury.
>What if I made him younger, like 16, yet frail and sickly as a part of an inborn genetic condition that couldn't be fixed? He's like 5 feet and 90 lbs.
>The reason I made him so young is because it means he's not only inexperienced and easier to feel bad for, but has no control over company resources
I basically stripped him of the "Celebrity superhero" status and focused on his nature as a tinkerer.

I’m surprised they didn’t take that angle in the MCU as it feels like an obvious change considering the links between Tony and Spider-Man, having him be introduced as a rival to Tony before becoming a full villain would have been interesting even if I’m not a fan of Spider-Man being Tony’s sidekick.

As I said he’s my favourite character and it’s sad he’s effectively exiled to being a side character because most writers don’t want to touch him and the MCU moped out rather than having the balls to adapt him and give Hank a chance at being a good character again.
I could come up with a million things that I’d do if I was given the job of writing a new Hank Pym story, but the MCU has sealed his fate to be permanently irrelevant so anything new that isn’t alternate universe stuff is ridiculously unlikely.

Man I already have so many ideas for what I'd do in a Hank Pym run either storyline wise, what villains would work well for a Rogues gallery transplant, what heroes I would have him interact/team up with and I've gone over them a few times in the past. Like it's mental how much people are against Hank Pym, his own YMMV page on TV tropes is just relentless shit flung his way that I was getting actively angry reading it and it feels like only Christos Gage, Al Ewing and Mackay have his back since we all know especially the shit treatment Hank got after Busiek's Avengers and West Cost Avengers ended from Bendis or Austen those hacks. Sometime I'll have to do a Pym reading binge if you've got any recommendations since admittedly I got into his character through EMH and reading some of his classic issues at libraries.

Seeing Norman vs Tony could be fun, but at this point it's like the heroes are personally helping Norman set up Dark Reign 2.
All it takes is Mephisto flipping the reverse switch on Sin Easter's magic, and Norman Stormin Osborn is back on top holding the keys to the Illuminati and ready to toss some blonds.

A part of it I imagine is that the whole Kindred/Sin-Eater storyline turned into such a mess, no one wants to untangle it to figure out how Norman goes back. I don't think anyone knows what "having his sins removed" even means.
Another part of me figures they're building Norman's reputation back in-universe so they can eventually go back to a classic dynamic of Norman being Peter's powerful, rich villain with good publicity and a secondary identity. They haven't actually had that status quo since Luke Cage and Urich outed him in the Pulse back in 2004.

It's kinda funny that even as someone that overall likes Spencer's run despite its flaws, the stuff they kept was the more contentious stuff but they will eventually make Norman a villain again since they did the same with Otto after his redemption, did the same with Sandman despite the fact him becoming an Avenger was genuinely a good direction for him and the only time it seems to have stuck is with Venom who's pretty much splintered off as his own part of Marvel now.

Sinless Norman seems to have been well received, but it all stems from Norman selling Harry to hell and later getting brainwashed into being good. At some point it has to come back to bite them.
The problem of the office is that it's rooted in Mephisto. They like to tease OMD, but it looks like they spooked last time and have avoided mentioning the circumstances which Our Friend Norman came out of.

No man, that's not it. We've had multiple stories where that was almost undone only. Goblin Queen and Spider Goblin both could have easily ended with a reset Norman but Marvel chose not to.
>they're building Norman's reputation back in-universe so they can eventually go back to a classic dynamic
Yet again, a hard disagree. Maybe if it was just one or two writers, but I think we are on writer 4 or 5 of redeemed Norman without any one person overseeing long term plans. Hell, the short lived Gold Goblin phase is proof of a lack of long term planning here. Good Norman is just going to to be a thing till we get a writer who wants to undo it.

I can’t get into specifics at the minute but my main suggestion is his stories from the 1970/80s. You get him becoming Yellowjacket, his mental decline and him losing everything but managing to find some redemption with the West Coast Avengers and (even if he got back with Janet, which I’m not a fan of, they should have stayed platonic) It’s the period of time in the comics which made him my favourite character as they had the balls to commit to him declining mentally and losing everything, considering ending it all, but managing to find some purpose again.

Yeah I understand the 'solved' one. It's just the common look, Mk 3, Mk 4 and such looks so basic. Again, primarily spoiled due to MCU where armors looks different. So here in comics, they gotta keep armor simple to draw but they don't really feel oomph.
Also I take that back, the last armor I find appealing, was the Krakoa era armor where it's just Mk 85 synergy.

The down side is that this is the only way we see most of Iron Man's classic villains anymore; as easily defeated jobbers seen at the opening of an issue before we move on to the real story.
The second Blizzard always was a jobber villain who usually worked as part of a team, so it's not as bad as if it was a different villain, but it's not a great sign that Iron Man runs are still opening like this.

It really feels like after that second Dark Avengers team in 2012, the Spider-Man office grabbed Norman back and wouldn't let anyone else play with him until now, and did it right after years of elevating him to being more than just Spider-Man's archenemy. We do know he was originally going to be in Axis but the Spidey books blocked it and let them use Hobgoblin instead, and it happened so late in the day one of the Axis covers has Green Goblin's face drawn but recolored as Hobgoblin.
>Still, I am a fan or redeemed Norman, and hope that it lasts a few more years.
Same. No matter how stupid the stories that got us here were, somehow we've gotten some really good Norman material out of it. It's just such a shame they took all his kids away before we got here, things could've been even more interesting.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring the Ultimate version of Harry Osborn to 616 like Miles, he’s effectively the main character of USM at this point. From there they’d probably just use 6160 Harry as if he’s the original.

Various writers have tried to redeem him, but you've seen how well it sticks. Without an editorial mandate to the contrary, some writer or another will always jump at the chance to do him dirty.
Well, I guess they could always make a story to metatextually recontextualize all future regressions. That might be nice.

That wasn't how Dark Reign ended, that was how Norman first went to prison about 6 or 7 years earlier. Dark Reign ends with Tony disabling Norman's Iron Patriot armor and Norman then getting taken down by Captain America.

>Wasn't it that in the Pulse Jessica and Luke are the ones that exposed him and that's what led to his eventual fall?
The Pulse ended years before Dark Reign. The story you're talking about was a lead-in to the opening of Millar's Spider-Man run, which begins with Norman having broken out of prison and getting defeated by Peter and sent back to jail.
That Pulse arc was published after Millar's early issues and was supposedly a sort of continuity patch to deal with Millar not really knowing what the status quo with Norman was.
This was all back around 2004 or 2005, years before Dark Reign.

>Yeah the Pulse is where Osborn got revealed to be the Green Goblin for the first time.
Since then Norman's publicly confessed to having been a Green Goblin but not THE Green Goblin, sticking to his earlier story about the real Green Goblin having a vendetta against the Osborn family, and having somehow brainwashed both Norman and Harry into having worn the costume. The only Green Goblin moment in that Pulse arc that was undeniably proven to be Norman was the moment where he gets caught by Cage.

Nefaria's power levels fluctuate so much that he's basically as powerful as the current story needs him to be. Sometimes he's completely depowered and just a normal guy, sometimes he's Superman-tier, sometimes he's somewhere in between.

That post earlier about writer's tendency to write supervillains as allies seemed funny if you have Count Nefaria doing it. Like not remotely reformed, throwing buildings on people, saying things like "when in America, do as the Americans do" after insulting the food, referring to Whitney as a unruly daughter and showing no regret with how she turned out, and generally considering himself above the rabble.

Norman was so wildly out‑of‑character in that story. If the plot survives only by subtracting IQ points from the villain (or anyone else unlucky enough to be in the cast), then the writer should probably sit in the corner and think about what they've done before submitting their work.

Count Nefaria is honestly super underrated as Marvel villains go. I love that he's essentially the perfect venn diagram of being a gangster and also a supervillain, both in visuals and execution. I also like the bit where he fights Superior Octopus and just laughs at him since he knows he'll eventually slide back into the supervillain role. I'll have to pickup his Marvel Legends figure eventually alongside a few others.

She's one of those villains who bounce around between different criminal enterprises because no two writers can agree one how to use her. So sometimes she's a mob boss in downtown Manhattan, sometimes she's a magical arms dealer, sometimes she's an enforcer for a villainous trade union, sometimes she's CEO of AIM, sometimes she's just a lone wolf madwoman trying to kill Tony Stark by snu-snu, and so on and so forth.

Honestly he's the only villain Armoured Adventures didn't do a great job on since they just have him as a stock Maggia boss instead of ever having him get his ionic super powers or form Lethal Legion. Honestly Count Nefaria would've been perfect for an arc of EMH now that I'm thinking about it in my head.

I also really like the idea they have of Crimson Dynamo as a vengeful cosmonaut and having his armour be essentially a space suit with its arsenal, durability and larger frame being cause it was made for that environment.
