That makes me think about the tipping point when the comic started leaning more into the bitterness. While it was always part of the comic from the start I think it's the mandom story and the end of the zombie walk when things start falling apart in a bad way. Earlier stories like the trivia off had more humor to soften the harshness and you could still imagine the boys being horrible in a low stakes goofy fun way. There's also the implied family trouble behind the scenes which suggests Bill turned harder to fandom shit over time to cope with his parents divorcing.

Bill finally reached his Xenith going mask off with his speeches and dog whistles. All of them were complaining about women and race already, they were already saying all remakes are shit, there's nothing new Dorkin could say about nerd culture. I'm sorry you won't get your issue of Bill showing up to give a speech at a Unite the Right rally and accidentally killing 13 neo Nazis because he slipped into a pile of kerosene for lighting tiki torches, or Pete becoming ripped and getting iPad, or Josh getting kidnapped by the cartel on a sex tourist trip to Tijuana and using his knowledge of Dragon Ball to get himself out of it but I for one am actively glad that it ended where it did, there's nothing more to say.
If you did not enjoy Boondocks Season 4, you would not have enjoyed an Eltingville full revival for the same reason, and I don't want anyone else to tell me otherwise.

Oh and Dorkin would have made the revival woke, but unironically. The final issue was already only tolerable because I agreed with what they were saying but it's clear Dorkin wrote it to make them seem like pieces of shit except Jerry.
