That's the root gripe I have with the series. All of my other complaints are direct consequences of it.

My biggest issue is the dialogue, or the lack of it. All of it that isn't a joke is purely utilitarian and in service of advancing the plot. Characters never get a chance to just talk with each other and moments never get time to breathe. One of the worst examples in my opinion was the basement reveal in Episode 5. What they're seeing is a major revelation that should should have a massive impact on the characters, but they don't take even a moment to explain what they're seeing or process how it's affecting them. They basically say "Well that just happened" and instantly move on, never discussing it again. That caused most people to not even understand what was happening in what should have been one of the show's hardest hitting moments.

I think it would benefit from a slower pacing than it has right now, like you said so it can have time to breath. I don't think it's as fast as GD for example it's not that extreme but I believe it wouldn't hurt to take the speed down some notches.

The show has a very punishing pace that doesn't really let you play around much for fan works. I suppose this ties back to the stuff about the dialogue being very utilitarian and the characters feeling like they have no room to breathe.
If you wanted to write a MD fic and have it still fit into canon, you pretty much have yo set it either after episode 3 or before episode 5. Episodes 1-3 all happening quickly succession and episodes 5-8 are also in quick succession, so that's literally the only free time to play with. Otherwise, you have to set things pre-series or start doing canon divergences and shit which is a lot more work.

So basically, despite rambling about fan works, what I'm saying is that the show needed a filler episode or two. That one intermission animatic on YouTube where V and N teach Uzi to fly is a good style

Murder Drone was a first in many ways.
First, it was the first Glitch Production made without government assistance. Both Meta Runner and Sunset Paradise had government funding since the Australian government subsidizes the arts.
Both MR and SP had 10 episodes a season (except MR's last one) and they have their own issues, but pacing wasn't one of them. Both had time for more character development and introspective moments.

Second, it was the first show made with an outside show runner and not written and directed by the old SMG4 team. I think they underestimated how much Liam was going to pack into this show.

Third, Liam is not a director or a writer by profession or training. He's said it himself on his channel, he's a storyboard artist. This is the first time he's been responsible for such a large project. I think he did well with the constraints he was working under.

Murder Drone was a departure from anything Glitch had ever attempted before and for all its flaws, I absolutely loved it!
