The one on the right is the cool punk one, the one on the left is the stereotypical nerd you wanted to punch in the face.

new mr. Stikk Comic. it's called Mr Stikk - throws a pie in his own face. I got the idea of Mr. Stikk throwing a pie in his own face. and I thought. wow , what a great idea for a comic.

It what does throwing the pie in his own face MEAN? And why invoke to racial socioeconomic dynamism of huckleberry then juxtapose that with pie, and we all know what pie means, without bothering to expound upon Mr. Stikk’s own ethnic identity?

Maybe try to think of it more like this, this is what I do:
You don't have to be wholly original, you just have to try to be interesting. Every new idea that you could think of is built off previous ones, like an ever continuing chain of events that create one another. Maybe take a cliche and turn it on it's head, or create something with juxtaposition, two seemingly disparate ideas that pair together and create something novel without just being gimmicky. It's a very complex thing to come up with something new and fresh that doesn't share any similarities with anything else, and I think the more you worry about being original, the more you stifle yourself making anything at all. Just don't go out of your way to plagiarize and if you're doing it your own way, it will at least in some sense be original, because you made it only the way that you would have. Hope this helps.
TLDR just do it.

Only in the mornings.
>>152369004
Do you really have to? My point is, you're never going to make anything original if you don't make something first. Even then original doesn't necessarily mean good, something can be original and still be shit. Maybe you just need to re-examine your thought process on how you try to come up with things, what are you doing right now trying to get ideas, anything?
>>
>>
>>152369480
Have you been studying fight choreography? You might not be able to come up with it because you likely don't understand how it works. If your knowledge of how fight scenes and action function as entertainment is so limited you can't think of anything at all, you need to get a more complex understanding of it to work from. If for comics, look at comics, and then look at what those comics looked at, and then if films, look at what those films looked at.
>>
>>152369582
My only thorough reference for choreography is martial arts.
Like, actual martial arts and exchanges like that. But that’s the problem. The only fight scenes I can do with any competence are very grounded ones with little flair.
But I don’t want to do that at times
>>
>>152369679
Well there it is then, yes martial arts are very structured and disciplined, you want fights that feel more real. A lot of martial arts aren't exceptionally useful in actual fights. Look into ones that militaries use, those are the ones that are actually worth a damn, and even then non-trained average joes like you or I wouldn't use those either.
Don't know how deep you're willing to go, but you might look at footage of real life fights (preferably ones without actual bloodshed) to see how a more typical fight might go. You need to see more kinds of fights and how the "camera angle" of a frame might emphasize the moments building up to an impact, the impact itself, and whatever reaction comes next, maybe in a chain until the action's done.
>>
>>152369724
Pacing too, pacing is also very important to action, it doesn't have to just be punch after punch after kick, fights in comics have all sorts of things happening that make it more complex than just doing basic unarmed attacks.
>>
>>
>>152369781
There is limited stuff that is used but most of the focus in training is on firearms, yes. It isn't nonexistent across the world, therefore it is not a myth.
Even if it was, the average person can believe it for fighters who are supposed to have training, doesn't stop human characters without powers from using them in comics and looking cool. But shit like karate chops is kind of stupid unless you can give it some kind of actual use that a karate chop wouldn't really do in most contexts.
>>
>>
>>152370186
Well yeah all weaponless attacks are mostly worthless against weapons, but if you're going to research martial arts and use those for fight scenes you should at least look into the ones that aren't *as* useless. You got anything you would recommend instead?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>152370838
It's not taught for pragmatic reasons. It's meant to make the IDF seem stronger.
"We have this super killer martial art!"
"Just don't actually use it"
Your average Magaster would get folded in 5 seconds by anyone who's studied any remotely usable style
>>
>>152370955
That sounds like a complete waste of time and a bunch of stupid asstwat, why not just teach them something useful so they can do that AND be tough? I feel like this was sourced from another board on this site and not any actual real life context. I still have yet to hear another, better martial arts or fighting style to use as reference in making action scenes in comics, of which I'm sure there are plenty of suitable candidates.
