Imagine Benson twerking while Mordecai and Rigby talk about how bad Capitalism is.

>I don't think it's a revival like Gumball
It is and it isn't. It's called "Regular Show: Lost Tapes", which seems to imply it's an episodic series set in the early seasons of the show basically just showing more adventures of Mordecai and Rigby. They are doing the same with AT with "Adventure Time: Side Quests".
Cartoon Network seems to regret letting AT and RS become non-episodic shows. I'm pretty sure that if not for that these would have been outright revivals like the Gumball one.

>ANOTHER fucking revival
Surely I can't be the only Millennial sick of this by now? I grew up with these shows but I don't want them to come back, especially because without fail when they come back they suck. I'd rather get something new, instead.

>We just have to accept the fact that Cartoon Network has to make room for great shows like Apple & Onion, Unikitty, OK K.O. Let's be Heroes, Summer Camp Island, Victor and Valentino, Craig of the Creek, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, My Knight and Me, Mao Mao Heroes of a Pure Heart, Infinity Train, Total Dramarama, DC Superhero Girls, Power Players, Steven Universe Future, Care Bears: Unlock the Magic, Thundercats Roar, Tig n' Seek, The Fungies, Bakugan: Battle Planet, Elliott from Earth, Bugs Bunny Builders, Batwheels, Lucas the Spider, Cocomelon, Love Monster, Lamput, Aquaman King of Atlantis, Jessica's Little Big World, Total Drama Island (2023), Beast Boy: Lone Wolf, Looney Tunes Cartoons (HBO), Tom and Jerry Tales, and Jellystone
>Is there no hope?
>Well I suppose if all those shows go down the tubes we might have a shot.

They probably have data that shows Regular Show and Adventure Time were much more popular in their early seasons. And I don't mean just premiere ratings (which could be excusable due to the decline of cable) but stuff like reruns, streaming viewership, YouTube views, performance on international channels, etc.
You can kinda tell by how quickly those two shows went from being the face of 2010s CN to being ditched in favour of Teen Titans Go! and Gumball (and to a lesser extent Steven Universe).

If it has the same writers as close enough then it's going to suck. If it has the same writers as the original there's a chance it'll be good, but they were already running out of ideas towards the end of the show so it's unlikely.

Literally the only thing we've heard is that they were writing an Eileen episode the writer thought was his favorite. I already do not care. My fear was already "RS but rectifying that it focused on a male cast by elevating the shitty female ones like all modern revivals/reboots do" and that one piece of information really didn't help.
I'd actually have been interested in a couple more episodes exploring Margaret's job as a news reporter in such a wacky town and how that could've overlapped with shit Mordecai and Rigby get into (the only episode they made for her had them uninvolved and just watching the incident on TV) but nothing else. No bullshit CJ episodes where she vents and complains and no mary sue Eileen stories. Especially since it's reportedly airing on Adult Swim in canada which sounds like they did a Fionna and Cake and bumped up the age rating, doing that on top of focusing more on the female cast is a recipe for crap, it just means more of this generational focusing on women problems and making them crasser.

They aired My Adventures With Superman on Adult Swim and that's a kids show.
Anyway, I suspect it's going to air on Hulu like Gumball. The show is only available there.

The fact it's a "midquel" should be the surest sign that Regular Show has LITERALLY no reason to be returning. I hate that JG was forced into doing this, and so soon after his new series was killed in the streaming wars...

No? That's just a name man, and didn't they already say that that wasn't what the show was about, some characters from the original show would show up, but it's not just gonna be Regular Show again.

They said it would be something "entirely new, though it will feature some characters from the original series".

It's "set in the regular show world with some returning characters". i wouldn't be surprised if it's a spinoff that explores the underutilized lives of the female cast and the others show up by proxy. i do think lost tapes might imply taking place pre-finale, with pops in heaven finding some "secret" stories, but that could also be him finding tapes of content set during the montage period. the only real thing we have to go off of is the synopsis implying focus has changed in the main cast, and assuming it'll be like everything else now where they're afraid of not having women in the main cast so it'll probably focus on them, and we know eileen is returning from a writer interview.

That's how I feel. CE was disappointing as an RS fan. It felt less like it had that good RS blood in it and more like your typical modern show. But I also can't expect much if it somehow tried to recapture the original RS series by its team because they weren't doing the best at that before it ended either. Season 8's premise aside the writing felt off in a weird way sometimes. Like why was 8 seasons in when you do a "nobody believes the protags the new guys are evil" story, wtf.
Sadly Quintel will not put his foot down for this either. You could see it with CE that he's sort of acclimated to the whims of the modern industry. The days of him telling a female boarder not to draw Mordecai doing a feminine pose are dead. Especially since she apparently felt bad enough about it to put something in Infinity Train and call him out as "getting back at him" that way. I have no possible hopes for this, I just hope it doesn't completely ruin any chance to talk about liking the original.

FnC season 1 was good, we just need something around that quality or better and it will be a good watch (at least one original show character is in the plot throughout the season). Though the posts in this thread make it seem the RS revival will be worse.

I haven't heard the commentary, but when trying to find the source I found tv tropes cites and describes the interaction as them eventually joking with a brief excerpt of afterwards
>On the DVD Commentary for "The Lucky Cat Car", Madeline Queripel admits that her having MT rub her arm in embarrassment is revenge towards Regular Show creator J.G. Quintel, who criticized her drawing Mordecai in a similar pose years prior. Everyone spends the next minute joking about this long held grudge.
>Owen: "There's a phrase I've heard before: 'Every TV show that's made is a reaction to the last TV show the people who worked on it made, where they weren't able to do certain things.' And so for Maddie, that meant... putting a hand on your arm."
>Maddie: (laughs) "Yeah! It's a huge chip on my shoulder! Er— to be clear, no ill will harbored."
It sounds like they acknowledge it's silly and she tries to play it off, while still admitting that for some reason this stuck with her negatively for multiple years to the point she did it way later on a different series because she wasn't allowed to with Mordecai.
It's the only time I've ever heard JG had told someone not to do something like that. I feel like Mordecai rubbing his arm is a pose they eventually used but I dont remember if he blushed doing it, that's the feminine part.
Maybe someone who gives more of a shit about Infinity Train than I do could post the actual audio.
