It's one of those kinds of games where you are required to have certain characters to do mission objectives. Then you need to have them at a certain level. At over 100 characters, and needing different kinds of currency in order to level them up (level up currency and character token currency), the game turns into a grindfest in order to keep up.

I have unlocked about 106 out of the 113 characters available, and all free to play too, I will say it is possible to play the game that way. You don't have to do everything, but the games does instill this sense of fomo if you couldn't complete that objective to obtain the rewards because you didn't have that character, or your character wasn't high level enough. You don't have to go all out and just play to get the minimum amount of objectives and be none the wiser.

Underneath, there is a really fun kart racer, but it is marred by the numerous micro-transactions that makes the game a chore.
