They did it better than they did with Beware the Batman (because Beware the Batman fucking sucks). I get it. The Batman didn't want to go with Robin for some reason at least Batgirl played with the idea that she wasn't officially part of the team yet.

Making Katana the chatty sidekick doesn't work and making her have to morally prove herself to Batman doesn't work either since she is already a better person than Batman. Making Barbra into an exposition dump in BtB is shit.

The Batman couldn't use Robin first due to TT still running. Murakami had a feeling the axe was going to fall on TT once he got word that TB would be using Robin.

Beware the Batman really seemed to want Katana to be Dick's replacement, going by how they wanted her to be Nightwing in season 2 while Babs would be a Carrie Kelly- esque Robin.

I thought it was interesting to introduce her well before Robin came into the picture. Apparently this was because Robin's character was tied up with Teen Titans and it took them a couple of years to sort that out because Warner execs are retarded and think people would be confused if there were two different Robins airing at once.

I am in the minority, and no one will care but back then I shipped Batgirl and Robin. I still do. If Aang and Katara could get together I don't see why these two can't.

I do kind of like that the show emphasized that she was such a good gymnast she was participating in Olympic trials. It at least laid the groundwork for the idea that she could keep up with Bruce on the rooftops. The DCAU, for all its strengths, doesn't do that, it just sort of implies that once Babs was formally in the Bat Family Bruce whipped her into shape.
