Read the first 5 issues of Absolute Wonder Woman and I'm a dumbass because I don't understand how her lasso works? Circe talks about it transforming people ok, but I did not understand the subtext of what it did to the harpy in the flashback, I also have no idea why it turned Diana into a giant Medusa? Can someone help me.
It's a good book otherwise

Whatever the lasso holds, she can transform. If she holds it, she can transform herself. She didn't kill the harpy, it transformed into something else. Something so bad that it horrified her. It's a cruel weapon if used on something else with that kind of intent but it needed to be in order to protect her. Wonder Woman doesn't like to be cruel but she doesn't want to dishonor her mother's sacrifice (like the name of the lasso) since it obviously would help her in the future. She gets scolded for it by Hecate, even.

I get it magically transforms things. My confusion is Circe saying something about “what [the lasso] holds controls the shape of the transformation” and how that relates to Wonder Woman becoming Medusa and to a lesser extent the harpy getting fucked
