Jimmy and Amanda have repeatedly pitched new Power Girl series over the years that would have picked up where their run left off, but DC passed on every one. It wasn't just them either; Christopher Priests' pitch for a Power Girls book (featuring Karen and Tanya) was rejected as well. Then when they finally decide to bring her back, they...get someone with no knowledge or understanding of the character. Jimmy and Amanda's ideas for PG weren't in line with what DC wanted out of her at this time, which was basically nothing more than filling in for Supergirl until they can tie in to her DCU appearances. I think after their failed attempts to fix her in the New 52, they just gave up on her entirely.

As for what it'll take to get a new Power Girl run...I don't know. You can either thank or blame editorial for Omen. I've seen a few complaints she was also OoC in this run, but I'm not familiar with her, so I can't speak on that. What I can say is that I found her annoying in this run. Leah made her overly 'quirky' and perfect while reducing Power Girl to a 'girlfailure'. It's obvious she was far more interested in writing Lilith (and every other character) than she was in writing the title character.
