I want to use stable diffusion locally to make images like I do with NovelAI, but NAI's style recognition and character recognition are really good. Is it possible to replicate style and or character recognition on a locally run stable diffusion? Like for example if I type the character Revy (Black Lagoon), NAI perfectly understands how that character looks and if I choose the style Karbo, it also copies it well and can combine it with other styles. I mainly want SD local for automation without generation limits and more customizability.

Cant get a straight answer using my own research and AI ironically. The answer I get is a vague "yes, sort of" basically.

Not being able to prompt a character just by using their name is a big deal to me, same with styles.

Yes. The popular models for SD include mostly everything from the boorus, so if your character or artist style is on there (and has a decent amount of tags) the model should be able to understand what you're asking for. If it's not, you might be able to download a lora for them on civit.

The reason is because the plethora of stable diffusion XL models available and how they're all slightly different, that and any shortcomings you have can be alleviated with LORAs

Now I don't know NAI, but if how they train differently identifies characters and styles it may be better at those than SD. Where they are all just tags, and anyone with blue hair and twintails may have a infinitesimally small bit of Hatsune Miku in them.

I use the mask mode for my internal shots, in the old picrel it's just a a corner.

it's not just a character; you're describing what you want in that region. I will weight the Model put what you describe where you want it. Like a minigirl in a stomach, with support from LORAs.
in my set up,last updated a year ago, it does tend to struggle if I go over just a few regions. so it's usually whole image + 1 specific region.

Yeah, I used WAN 2.2. It can give some decent results if you make use of inpainting and endpoints. For that video, I genned the image, then inpainted both a brap and destruction variant. I then put the original image into WAN and used the brap inpaint as the endpoint for the first 5 second vid, then continued the vid, and used the destruction inpaint as the endpoint for the next 5 seconds.

I'm the anon that trained the pony Ochiko lora. I trained this lora for noob vpred about a year ago, but the style didn't come through well. I used the same dataset to train it, and used some recommended training settings for vpred that I saw online. Tried a few times, and then gave up. It just gives a generic AI style that looks nothing like Ochiko's artstyle unless you bump up the lora strength to 1.5 or more, which makes the gen quality suffer. Noob already knows Ochiko's style pretty well without needing a lora, so I didn't feel the need to share this failed lora. I just felt like genning some size stuff again, and decided to give this lora a real try with it to see what it could do, and it doesn't seem to really add anything since noob can already gen some size stuff without needing a lora.

This is NovelAI & its just luck from styles / vibes. I usually take those generations as my base then throw them into image2image. From there, its usually a lot of in-paint fixes. I use photopea to make manual placements if the generations aren't giving me the right staging or camera angle.

I used this image as my vibe transfer which seems to help a lot.
Reference Strength: 0.6
Information Extracted: 0.6

I'll start from this vibe which naturally gives me these extreme close ups and then throw them into img2img with the vibe gone.
I've also noticed some tags or statements where I directly reference whats going on in the scene, that normally don't respond at all for complete "prompt only" images actually do influence generations. With the right style/vibe, it seems it can draw from that data set.

Camera tags like:
- worm's-eye view
- extreme low angle
- foreshortening
- depth of field
- blurry background
- blurry foreground
- Everything but the face is out-of-focus

Plus I use the character prompt feature not just for characters but also subject focus / depth position for like a body part or an object. I'll usually have like 4 characters prompts and I'll add like
"1::foreground::", "blurry", "male"
"1::middle ground::", "in focus", "female"
"1::background::", "out of focus", "lube bottle", "table"

Another method I'll do is shifting the edges and pulling back. This method though isn't good if your starting image already has a fisheye lens effect.

From there, I fill in the outside of the image and then let NAI do the rest. After that, I play around with subject matter. For example (which I forgot to screenshot the process), I saw an opportunity to communicate the small size of Bakugo by adding Midoriya's foot next to the lube bottles that novelai generated.

As for the characters / MHA characters. In my eyes at the very least, I think they're great models / placeholders. Don't need to go implying lore or personality within the image as much. They also feel the most responsive / flexible in NAI generations but that's just me.

I'm also a sucker for character personalities like Midoriya, making them into giants swaps / contrasts their establish social / psychological power dynamic. Plus I think It's kinda funny.

So this is a visualization of the step by step, back and forth, workflow I do with NovelAI and Photopea (Online free photoshop). I'll make a dedicated generation for the additional subject/object or whatever I want to add and I'll cut it out within photopea. From there, I'll do some tinkering like brightness and contrast adjustment or even blur to give more depth. Then I import it back into NovelAI though img2img to then get it visually aligned with the image / style. I'll start with the edges around the inserted object and generation by generation work my way in, target different details. At this point, I usually will wipe the entire master prompt and insert tags of what I want changed to force NAI within that region, eventually reverting back to the original master prompt to finalize or if it goes a stray.

As a "pièce de résistance", a demonstration of these methods in action, I give you this!

I started with the plane window shot with giant Midoriya and Bakguo (super easy, got image on first try). I then shifted the image out to do Uraraka, then again for the background of Mineta. I added the shotgun, Mineta arm reaching for the grip & the seat dividers through photopea, taking textures from the image and stitching them in the direction I wanted NIA inpainting to impose onto. The shotgun was literally a Remington pulled from google and slowly morphed into the "raps (yohomeboyraps)" style by breaking it into small parts to not overwhelm NIA. I would modify the prompt to focus on what part of the shotgun the inpaint mask was on.

Last step, I cut out the window and imposed the original Midoriya and Bakugo image to restore the details that got lost in all the upscaling and img2img swapping. I inpainted around the window to fill in the gaps and textures, then added a speech bubble (NAI), layers of depth (photopea) and voila.

All and all, This took around 132 generations, an hour of time and swapping between NovelAI & photopea on a $50 2017 HP desktop running linux mint. Hope these workflows & steps help you guys.

The visuals actually, in the bottom panels the giantess actually looks massive. It's just not a gigantic woman but the whole perception is warped, it feels more like looking at a distant mointain range. Part of the reason why i actually disliked photorealistic collages and stuck to drawn stuff, because they looked like what they were. Normal sized women cropped into a cityscape

I do like the degree of details though. It's hard to capture the things like the crumbs or the larger specs of dust floating around. There's a weight and unintentional power to the clutter for the tiny that a normal sized person just wouldn't even notice

I use Panchovix /stable-diffusion-webui-reForge, I don't think it's actively maintained anymore.
it's part of a chain of forks based on the stable diffusion Webui made in gardio, maybe a new SD Webui fork exists that equally focuses on optimization and other desirable things; other threads might know more.
it isn't build for the kind of automation flows you supposedly can do in comfyUI, but it works for me.

I tried to remake my workflow in comfy about a year ago too but couldn't get the hang of after detailers, regional prompting or multidifusion upscaling in it.

my order events is: prompt, with regional prompter if relevant, let afterdetailer fix faces or other things, done in small batch counts.
then if anything is good enough,I use tiled multidifusion to upscale it.
I don't mind the manual part of initiating the upscale, generally anything not upscaled isn't saved long term. helps limit the explosion of images.

Admittedly, I use a furry base model despite not gening furry, it just happened to not have to strong of a built-in style and fair understanding of the topics I prompt for most, back when I tried a few out,
it's Artofura V2 from civit.

the only other models I still have quick access to are the super bare Illustrious 0.1 for the few times I train a lora myself. And WAINSFW version11, it's the one i used most before my current. newer WAI version have to much of a built-in style.

anything else, especially styles, come from LORAs
since these styles are based on existing artists it feels improper to share my creations anywhere long lasting.

anon, if you like the model's style there's no shame in that, but it has a very obvious aesthetic bias that may or may not be caused by the furry training + overtraining (see unnatural amount of symmetry in poses). admittedly the colors and contrast still look good, as do the socks.

yeah, WAI is the most slopped of the illustrious/noob models, but even the earlier models were never that great in my testing. if you want to try real style freedom i'd say the best sdxl tune is naiXLVpred102d_custom (1) which is only on hf afaik
for slightly more coherent options, hasaku and miruku are decent too. also rouwei but that one is harder to wrangle. in my experience noob is better than illustrious for most things and the base is also more usable than base illu
all of which is of course just my opinion
