They can spend a few hours every day chained together for their daily chores. Maybe a few inches of chain maximum between their collars, its best to be cruel to them.

They can spend the rest of the time "boxed up". That is to say, punishment cages that take the form of a very claustrophobic hard plastic box, barely able to fit a petite slave to begin with. Only one side is made out of a clear plastic, the one they'd be facing, so you can put the two boxes directly next to each other. They'd only be able to see each other squirming and freaking out, Master wouldn't even be able to see them, it's only them and a protective layer of hard plastic stopping them from hurting each other again. Perhaps then they'd learn.

Even if they get released after a week of this punishment for good behaviour they still need to put on a show of kissing and making up constantly. Hold hands with your slave sister and kiss her right on the mouth, before turning to your Master to pledge that loyalty to Him overrules any of your pitiful problems with other slaves. Before and after any beating either of them receives, at a bare minimum.

I do body inspections on mine every day, even if it's mostly a formality. Hard for her to fail them when every second of her day is under my complete control, she doesn't have a choice in her diet and exercise. Still fun though.

I feel like the only way you can end up as a slave should be during the gameplay. Maybe if you get defeated by another player or npc, and the equip a slave's collar on you. Or maybe there are rare special traps in dungeons that teleport you to a slaver's camp where all the slaver npcs are lvl 90+, so it's basically impossible to escape unless you're a veteran player.
And of course if the player happens to be a sub and wants to play as a slave, then nothing's stopping them from going to such a camp by themselves and get caught.

Also as far as MMO slave mechanics go I think the best fit would be a slave character class you can choose at chargen, alongside MMO design that heavily relies on the sandbox design with a player driven economy.

The slave class gathers crafting mats and does at best very basic refining and crafting. Can maybe give morale buffs to combat classes through "service" and "entertainment", but slaves aren't worth very much. They're more like a playable accessory, being able to accompany their Master in the virtual world same as they do in the real one.

Reminds me of the elven slaves in Overlord.

They really didn't do much. They just refused to heal or buff him once he was helpless (he gets his hands cut off), and he gets quickly offed afterwards.
He could've easily earned their loyalty probably by simply being nice to them, but some people are terrible at proper disciplining their slaves without using overwhelming fear. Once that fear was gone, they felt comfortable enough kicking the corpse of their ex-master to get back at him.

slaves are a lot like dogs, they are quite attuned to the emotions of humans, on top of getting extremely attached to them. So when they get really upset that Master is paying attention to property that isn't her...

I do like weird and neurotic slaves like that, but trying to hurt other slaves is a serious offence, one that being sentenced to living hell down there is more than enough punishment for. I didn't tell her how long she'd be down there, which really helped with her being truly thankful that her prayers to Master were answered when I came back after a month, but yeah, plenty of girls like her don't get second chances.

...Or a third chance. she thought she could get away with it if she tried to be secretive. I made sure the overseers went especially hard on her, and she survived, somehow. I'll probably just leave her there if she tries again.

A heavy metal collar with accompanying wrist and ankle cuffs and as little clothing as she can get away with has been my standard for a long time. Stuff like piercings and tattoos should reinforce her status as a lowly slave, piercings that are at best just bare metal driven into her and not even fake gold that a harem girl would get, tattoos that are impossible to mistake for anything other than a slave brand, not decorative in any way, any chains attached to her are heavy and hard to break. Reinforce that while sexual pleasure is one of her primary duties, she is equal parts tool and toy. Those things she sees that are being worked to death and are only useful as tools can be her if she feels like she deserves to be more of a toy.

It should be obvious looking at such a thing that while she is a personal slave, she is still a piece of dirt, and should be treated accordingly.

That's impossible to answer generally. I like all of those, but what gets used depends on the slave, setting, and scenario.
For now I'll say that I like bells. On her nipples, on her clit, on her collar, in her hair, in her skimpy slave clothes. Pretty little things, soft, feminine tinkles whenever she moves. It makes her prettier, but also means it's impossible for her to move around without being heard, an added layer of security and restraint. Plus, since these bells are part of her slavery setup, it means every time she moves she's audibly reminded of her status. It's drive her mad.
This is especially good on dexterous, agile slaves. Elves, swordswomen, thieves, Lyn, etc. Sabotage their speed.
