100% agreed. I guess the only saving grace is that CL won't outright disappear since it appears to be a nonprofit so as far as I can tell less traffic makes it easier to maintain. Maybe in a few years people will get sick of zero-effort screencap-of-a-screencap-of-a-screencap-of-a-text-of-a-picture posts with no/wrong information and will start using CL again. One can dream.

I see some useable parts but dunno if it would make a decent compressor or not. If it is really free even if you ended up salvaging some components and scrapping the rest you should be able to come out ahead.
That being said I don't know if I would go out of my way to get it or anything...

Curbside find
Got it home plugged it up flipped the switch and the chuck makes like two rotations then stops and if you leave it on it starts humming louder and louder. Is this fixable?
I was just gonna spray it down with oil and see if it unseizes but I didn't know if it would cause some kind of slippage somewhere or something

The welding rod ovens are a rip off. I soaked both 6010s and 7018s in a bottle of water over a weekend. Welded fine. Ground open welds and not a hint of porosity. I was in welding school at the time and I showed my instructor. His response was “I have no explanation for that”.
I think it’s a wives tale that the people who make the rod ovens are too happy to continue.

Yeah I put it up in the last one too. Apparently that guy keeps his "heavy equipment" up on Craigslist constantly. Kek!
Heavy equipment, tools, auto parts, etc are some of my most frequently browsed sections of Craigslist.

i remember when they first added this section circa 2014ish. i scored so many killer deals and free shit from suburbanite ladies cleanout the garage. best was a brand new 13hp honda commercial pressure washer for free from a lady in a ritzy mcmansion
biz/comm seems to be the only remaining category that yields the occasional gem these days and it takes wading through a lot of shit

I like in a city of about 120k people. CL and Facebook are quiet. Not dead, but not doing well. Nothing moves and people list shit thinking they are selling on eBay. More then once I have seen a listing, waited a few days, given them a lowball offer, and then have them come back after a few weeks and see if I am still interested or just have it perpetually listed for months. Did everyone more to a different site or is the economy for used goods just over with?

I've noticed there isn't as much stuff for sale right now too. Or if it is for sale it's either completely clapped out or listed at an exorbitant price. I think a lot of people are holding onto what they have because the economy is so volatile right now. A lot of "extra" stuff has probably already been unloaded due to craigslist and facespace marketplace being a thing for so long now. The people that wanted it gone have sold and the people that want it have it now, and aren't planning on letting it go. I've noticed yard sales are not as common anymore, and a lot of consignment auctions get mainly junk brought to them compared to years past. Estate sales, and estate auctions can still be good though.

I still haven't gotten them, but I do know he still has them. I drove by and saw them sitting there on Wednesday. I happened to be right there getting some cattle lick tubs and salt blocks with the dump trailer on after hauling a couple tons of scrap steel to the scrapyard. Checked a different listing of his on facespace and it says he is only there Friday-Monday. So maybe I'll see if I can snag them this weekend...

Went and picked them up this evening. Already got them stripped down. 18 cast feet, 9 T-bars (like half an I-beam) forgot to measure how long. A gallon coffee can about 3/4 full of nuts and bolts, bunch of plastic chairs for the burn barrels, and metal seat frames that I'm unsure if I can cut and salvage anything from, or just scrap out. Took maybe 30-45 minutes to process them all. Not bad for free.

fill dirt is a peculiar element
the volume is irrelevant to the situation. it could be 1 shovelfull or 100k yds
if youre doing a job and you have any to get rid of inevitably youll have to pay a premium to make it go away
then the next job where you need fill therell be none to be had and youll have to pay like its gold again

Well, I got a response on this ad, and I drove out there. It turns out some discord nigger trannies are fucking with some special needs guy, and I totally fell for it like an idiot. I showed up, and the person said to bang on the door to get their husband to answer. There was no scrap or husband, and I was banging on the door like a psycho. At the end, I could hear rustling inside behind the security scree, and the door behind the security screen was open the whole time. I think someone was watching me. I fucked off out of there and talked to a neighbor who said a bunch of people had come by. I should have known, but I was blinded by the scrap.

Free rubble (local pickup).
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>2971363
Riprap is a layer of large, loose stones (or sometimes concrete chunks) placed on slopes, riverbanks, or shorelines to protect the soil from erosion caused by water, waves, or ice, acting as a flexible armor to absorb and disperse water energy. This durable material stabilizes areas with high water flow, such as streambeds, culvert outlets, and bridge abutments, where vegetation struggles to grow, preventing scouring and land loss.
Copied straight from Google for (you)
>>
>>2971364
Ok, fine, but what about it? You can't just go dump nor grab stuff wherever legally (which is why they're offering it), and construction sites do use rubble as filler, also some ads say it's "clean" (guess meaning just masonry, not other shit), so that's probably that.

>>2971385
One of the thrift stores I go to gets so many donations that they're really picky about what they bother trying to sell. Everything else either ends up in the dumpster or in a pile out back for people to pick through and then eventually get hauled off. If any donated clothes or shoes get rained out, they automatically go in the free pile. I found a brand freaking new pair of Georgia lace-ups in my size a few months ago. It's nothing to find an entire set of old rusty dumbbells or olympic plates just laying around waiting for someone to scrap/resell them.
I regularly snag old end tables or dining tables to refinish and resell on FB
>>
>>2971369
Wat?
People that own property along rivers, streams and canals can use concrete rubble as riprap on their property to help prevent erosion. If a person needs it, then they can and will try to find it for free, and oftentimes there are other people willing to give it away for free to be rid of it.
What exactly aren't you understanding?
>>
>>2971459

River banks here (any bank/shore at all, actually) are public dominion since the 70s; you can't build/own/etc. there at all, unless licensed, (so no private beaches/etc. either). And too many niggers scting niggerly for me to cry about it (famous examples who got btfo: son of frenchman Jacques Cousteau's seaside villa; Cristiano Ronaldo's riverside villa's pier/whv).

Yes some rivers and streams do have a ton of trash floating in them. Luckily I am far away from most large population centers so a lot of that gets filtered out before it gets here. Sometimes when we have the river in flood stages you'll see trash swirling around in the river, but other than that it's decently clean.
One town up the river a ways had a town dump next to the river from around the 30-s to the 50's I'd guess. We had a huge flood when I was a kid that washed a bunch of neat old timey bottles downstream and deposited them in different sand bars. Brown Purex and Clorox bottles, and similar old fashioned face cream and medicine bottles...

>Everyone kept telling me to look there for a beater car. Unless I’m blind you can’t even filter for basic shit like mileage.
Facebook's search sucks major balls. But you can go into marketplace, go under the vehicles tab, and then search by make and model and mileage if you want to. Now if the person actually filled in those properly is a whole nother problem.
I usually filter by make "ford" and then go to the transmission option and select "manual" and that shows me anything I'd even be remotely interested in buying...

>>

Facebook marketplace search is absolute trash. It literally just fills the results with similar items to boost the number of results. It ignores filters too. Only want stuff within 100 miles? Fuck you, here's some shit from two states over. Only posted in the last 24 hours? You must be dumb, here's shit from several months ago. Searched for a single word and no filters? Suck a dick, 'Results from outside your search' is all you get.
>>2971698
To use your Ford example, yeah, that works because there are going to be a ton of results for Ford. Search for a lesser known car brand, like DeSoto, and you get dogshit. In my area I get a full page of results, only about a third of which are actually DeSoto related. The rest are just antique cars from whatever manufacturer. Search for Nintendo 64? Tons of results. Search for Atari Jaguar? A few Atari hits, many not Jaguars, and then a bunch of random video game stuff. Bravia? Tons of results. Trinitron? A few hits and then a bunch of random tube televisions most of which aren't even made by Sony.
CL is much better, but FBM has pull away so many of the normies that there's not much on there anymore. Pisses me the fuck off when something so inferior 'wins' simply because some enshittification pioneer put their weight behind it.
