This little Klein pouch goes with me whenever I run up a ladder or upstairs to look at something. It’s been working out well.

When I worked factory maintenance, most issues could be fixed with an insulated flathead screwdriver, a meter, 6” knipex pliers, tape, zipties, and a leatherman rebar without having to go back to the shop and get my roll around box.

I think this is a case where a pic is worth a thousand words, no point typing it all out. Mostly had it set up for the multi-year process of cleaning out and fixing up my old house and then getting the new one set up, now that I'm settled in the same tools are all in my box in the garage but I can throw the kit back together in a few minutes when something needs attention.

the collection in the door panel of my pickup is what has distilled down to the most handy for my purposes. the little 6 mexican micrometer is probably the most used

my problem solving kit is a rolling tool bag that lives in the trunk of my car. I evaluate what I need and fetch it, if it's going to be an involved task I either pull the bag out and roll it up to where I'm working, or if it's an outdoors situation, I just back the car up as close as possible and work out of the trunk

usually on my own time i'm working on off road vehicles, generators
>usually carrying a multi tool already
>2x channel locks, big and small
>bailing wire
>flathead screwdriver
>2x fusee
>small jump pack
anything else and i'm gonna grab the tools i need from my place/vehicle.
as a trainman and engineer in remote areas where i am hoping to fix the equipment myself
>multitool
>channel locks
>bailing wire
>fusees
>gaskets
>large cotter pin
>small cotter pins
>bad order tags
>sledgehammer or pick from motor

it's a railroad flare that is supposed to burn for exactly 10 min. smaller than road flares and they often have nails on the bottom so you could throw them into into ties from the caboose or rear like a throwing knife in ye olden days. we mostly use them for crossings and emergencies now since signalling has improved.

I'm the second one, it's just a general /diy/ around the house kit and not a work bag. I'm an ex-mechanic going back to school for machining with the aim of doing machine installs and service but my tools for that are completely separate.
Also worth mentioning that the tools in my pic all look brand new because they basically were at the time, I got sick of "borrowing" tools from my main box in the garage and then forgetting to put them back so I bought a whole new set of stuff just for home work. (Plus a lot of them were upgrades from shitty old clapped out stuff I had.)

I love me my new Mon-Fri 7:00am-3:30pm tradie job. Just got done with a 4-day weekend. Just remember boys, we can fill that gearbox oil tomorrow as long as nothing critical is going down. Gotta be home for dinner!
>tfw today I graduated to the boss allowing me to have a meter in my tool box full time and enough trust to stick some probes in 480V panels unsupervised
Wew lads, Bepis is growing up!

Trust me, don’t work horrible schedules for a couple bucks more. It’s soul crushing but you don’t realize how bad it is until you start living like a normal human bean.
>>
>>2961638
A high paying but retardedly fucked up work schedule cost me my best years and I didn't realize it until I was a mid 30s land & homeowner with no debt, but also no family to share it with. ,and all the women at my age already come with a herd of bastards or are deranged batshit crazy whores and there's a reason they're 30 and still single. If I could do it over again I would've taken mediocrity and a chance of living a normal life over this tbqhwyf. If I haven't turned shit around by 45 I'm liquidating everything and becoming an expat to some asian shithole with nice beaches and partying til I run out of money then I'll eat a bullet and call it a day.

One more thing I learned as of recent, if you can find a workplace where other people are down for the cause and work hard, which is a rarity, and you enjoy working with those people most days, hang onto it. I felt hella blessed leaving work last week Weds afternoon. We had a great potluck lunch where 90% of people put real effort into their stuff, guys showed up on their days off to hang out, and I had a 4 day weekend with Thurs and Friday paid off. I made another dollar or two an hour at the last job and got more OT, but I’m not an ID# to these people and don’t have corporate hacks coming down with new stupid processes every 3 months.
>tfw 157A @ 480V 3-phase and it’s not even at 60Hz
I’m learning so much at this place that I’ll just get down on more side jobs on weekends if I start hurting from the missing OT money.

Keep up with it. 3-4 months and your brain will start going back to normal and not crave whatever you were on so much. Then you can start living life like a normal human bean but with an appreciation for the little things.

i just occasionally "forget" to take them out of my bag/pockets when i need more. big perk for sure.
>>2961417
it's pretty unique. you get used to the hours and conditions yourself but it makes it very difficult to have any sort of relationship. also literally no one will understand your cool work stories except other railroaders so you end up spending a lot of time with them.

I can't find anything saying he's Jewish, and the origins of the name are inconclusive. (It's an Anglo name but some Jews adopted it when they moved to the US.) I found an article from a Jewish publication about the brand's popularity in Israel but it said nothing about Tim being a Jew, and you'd think it would have if he were one.
Spyderco is Jewish though, or at least founded by a guy of Jewish origin.

the edamamebois that carry this shit always whip it out of their $200 rei zipoffs that have never been dirty and then try to flex about their $300 hiking boots that they worry about stepping in a mudpuddle with. then they struggle and fail to use it to get a pop top can of smoked oysters open
meanwhile jimbob takes out his stub of a case folder thats been sharpened down to a nub on the bench grinder and cuts a piece of chaw before using it to perfectly set the mixture on his 090 stihl

Did you know they didn't even give us the vaccine they tested? They were supposed to be giving us filtered mrna, instead they included all the protoplasm and cell membranes of the bacteria they used to replicate it because that's a lot cheaper.

we only have problem havers here
not much solving actually goes on

>What's in your go-to problem solving kit and how's it set up?
Measuring tape, pen, paper, circle template, knife, multi-tool.
I draw up plans, present the solution, they approve it, and hire someone else to do the work. When they don't hire someone, the knife and multi-tool fixes the problem.

funny thing about Hi-Points..
As clunky and ugly as they are, if you were to simply polish the feed ramp with some 400 grit and then lube it with some remoil, as well as keeping it clean, they are both reliable AND accurate.
Niggers can't into basic maintenance alhoweverbietthough..
Anyway.
A good sidearm with a locking holster is a very important tool in some areas.
Sure, better to never have to be in those areas, but real life sometimes says otherwise.
